How I Made A Yarn Bowl With Polymer Clay

Okay, lets Get Started.
So I had a bunch of left over Polymer clay
and wanted to make something fun out of it.
I have made a bunch of buttons,  beads and key chains.
I searched on Pinterest for a blog that
had  made a  Polymer Clay Yarn Bowl.

I found one at
Her yarn bowl is beautiful.

Looked easy, right?
I preheated the over to 225.
And Began to roll out the canes.

Put out a large piece of parchment paper,
and began to form the canes in a fun circle shape.

I then began to roll out the canes until they were pretty flat.
I used the dog bone cookie cutter to form
the shape for the yarn to go through.

I shaped the circle around a oven safe bow,
cut our the shape for the yarn to come thorough.
I am thinking this is pretty fun, pretty easy
and I am loving the funky design.

I put the bowl on a cookie sheet,
and baked the bowl for 30 minutes.
When the timer went off I was so excited......

Well, my excitement stopped when after cooling the bowl,
 for about 30 minutes,
It broke into many colorful pieces.

I was very disappointed,
but determined to try again.

So I did.
I didn't have as pretty a mix of colors,
But I do like how the colors look.
I did everything exactly as I did on the first bowl.

A good tip - Spray the glass bowl with cooking oil.

So here is the yarn bowl.
It is cute, but very fragile and not really usable.
It is a pretty prop.

It was fun to play with the clay, though.
If you try this, let me know your results.
I would love to see your yarn bowls.

Small Dog Shrug Crochet Pattern

I have had quite a few people
 asking me to design a
Small Dog Shrug.

I had it finished, and set it aside.
 I actually forgot about it.

I was going through one of my
 pattern notebooks and found it!

Dog Shrug Crochet Pattern By Sara Sach
Please, Add this Crochet Pattern to Your Ravelry Favorites
So here it us:
Skill : Easy

Hook - J
Yarn - Any Worsted Weight yarn - I used Red heart Super saver - Baby pink
Tape Measure

Chain  (ch)
Slip Stitch  (sl st)
Single Crochet ( sc)

Gauge: 3 chs = 1 inch

The First thing you need to do is measure your dog
from elbow to elbow,  around the back.
Measure loosely for a comfy fit.

R : 1  - Ch 51, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, and in each ch across. ( 50 sc)

This pattern is based on Rosie's measurement of  18 inches.
If your dog's measurement is larger or smaller then Rosie's,
you will need to add or subtract chs for your dog's measurement.

R : 2  - Ch 1 , does not count as a st, working in the back loops,
1 sc in the next 6 sc, *ch3, skip the next st,
sl st in next st, * repeat across row till only 6 sc are left un-worked,
working in the back loops, 1 sc each of the last 6 sc, ch 1 turn.
 ( 12 sc, 22 ch3 loops)

R : 3-16  - Repeat R : 2 ( 12 sc, 22 ch 3 loops)

R : 17  - ch1, 6 sc, *2 sc in each ch3 loop space, Repeat across,
1 sc in each of the last 6 sc, tie off, weave in your end.

If you are making this for a larger dog,
you may want to add more rows to make it longer.

Finishing -
Fold the Shrug in half, Right side out. Lining up the both ends,
and slip st them closed, to form the sleeves.

I Like to use the beginning ch edge as the back, but its up to you which side if the back.

This is perfect little shrug to add to a
party dress, pageant dress or just for fun!
Rosie loves her little shrug
and I hope you do too.

Happy Birthday to my Momma

Today is April 27th
It is my Mom's Birthday
Lisa- my sister,                Ann-Mom,                   Sara-Me
This picture was taken
the day before she started Chemo.

She is celebrating in heaven
 this year.

Here is a short video
my husband put together,
for her funeral.

She loved to laugh and have fun.

I will never forget the day, I came to pick her up
 for her last Chemo treatment.
Mom had lost all her hair.
And had several nice wigs,
but I didn't expect to see her in this hot pink wig.

It was awesome.

When she went to Chemo,  it would take all day.
So we would take candy and treats for whomever
else would be there.
Peppermints were always good for settling the tummies.

And we would bring games like Uno and skipbo,
and try to include as many, who could play.
There would be many people alone, in the Chemo area.
And she would chat, tell silly jokes
and try to cheer everyone up.
That is just the way she was.

I would feel bad because of what
she was going through,
and try to cheer her up
and she would cheer me up!!!

Momma's hair was dark like mine,
But she secretly wanted to be a blond.
So she got a blond wig.

She loved people.
And she Loved The Lord.
She was Amazing!

Happy Birthday,
I Love you!

Featured Designer - Elk Studio's Southern Comfort Hat

I Loved making this crochet hat pattern
and loved the cross over stitch.
I had never done that stitch before
and it really gives it a cool look.

The Pattern is designed By
Kathy Lashley of
ELK Studio
Handcrafted Crochet Designs

Here is her Blog:
The pattern is well written
and easy to follow.
I Love the Red and Beige Hat
 featured on her blog.

I used Vanna's Choice yarn.
Its soft and light.

I was going for a beachy look.
I think I nailed it!
I Love it!

The hat is a perfect fit and
 I already love wearing it.

This hat is designed for Chemo patients.
This cause is dear to my heart
as my mom passed away from Breast Cancer
last July. She went through Chemo,
and lost all her hair.

Sun hats are very important for
Chemo patients
as they are not used to the sun
on their bald heads, and burn easily.

But also, All it takes is a breeze
to blow in and their head gets cold.

My mom would get cold sitting
in an air conditioned
room in the summer.

To find out more about
Just click the link.

They have many crochet hats to make,
as well as videos of hats to make.
I made many of these for my mom.
