Live With Sara - "How To Print A Pattern From MY Blog" \ Posh Pooch Designs

Live Video Chat With Sara of
Today's Topic:
How To Print A Pattern From My Blog.

I get this question a lot, and it really surprises me.
Learning to "copy, paste and print" is one of the first things
I learned when leaning about computers.

See The Video only Youtube Channel
 at this LINK

When you reach my blog ,
and find a crochet or knitting pattern
 you would like to print,
Scroll down to the portion that is the actual pattern.
If there is an add covering part of the pattern,
just click the X, usually in one
of the corners, to remove it.
Highlight and Copy the pattern portion,
by rolling your mouse over it.
Paste it to a document, and print it.

If you are wanting to save the Pattern, And print it later,
Then Ravelry is the way to go. I save all my patterns on Raverly.
I actually hardly ever print a pattern. I just use my ipad or phone.
You will find all my Crochet and knitting patterns
 listed on Ravelry.

Live With Sara - "Tips on Sizing Crochet Patterns" | Posh Pooch Designs

Live  Video Chat With Sara Sach of
To Day we are discussing the Question
"How do I make a Crochet Pattern Smaller or Larger?

See The Video on my Youtube Channel
 at This LINK

Here are a Few Tips To Accomplish This:

1. Change Your Crochet Size. If the pattern calls for an
H hook, and it is measuring too big or too small,
change your hook size.I tend to crochet loose,
so I usually go down a hook size.

2.  Change Your Yarn Weight - If the pattern is turning out
to small, or you just want it to be bigger, use a thicker yarn.
And if you want it smaller, switch to a smaller weight yarn.

3.Change Your Number of Beginning Chains - If the item is working to small, you can add more chains,
and if it is too large, add less. Some patterns are worked in multiples. And Some are by measurements.
For instance "3 chains = 1 inch". Then you know to
make sure you measure correctly and the item will be the size you want.

And How many rows you stitch.

4. Change The Amount Of Rounds - When working in Rounds,
it may come out to long or too short. and you may
want to add less rounds, or more rounds.

5. Measure as you Go! Measure everything!
Length, Width, Up, Down and Around!

Live Video Chat with Sara - What Yarn Fiber is Best? | Posh Pooch Designs

"Live With Sara"
Tuesdays at 9:30 AM MST
over on the facebook page at
 Posh Pooch Designs

Today's Topic - Yarn Fiber"

Yarn is made of many different fibers
and blends of those fibers.
But any fiber that can be spun or cut into long strips
 can be crocheted or knitted.
And therefore, Classified as "yarn".

Yarn Makers and distributors
always put on the label what the yarn

is made out of. And be sure to always read the label,
as some yarns are combinations of other fibers.

See The Video on my Youtube Channel at This LINK

1. Acrylic Yarn - The most popular yarn fiber is Acrylic, or Synthetic. It is inexpensive to make and inexpensive to purchase. And has really changed in the last few years. It is softer and smoother. It has a lot of bright colors and
can be used for just about any project.
Acrylic is safe to Machine wash and dry, and holds up well.

2. Wool Yarn - is an interesting medium as it can be soft or scratchy, thick or thin, depending on how it is spun. Of course it is made from the wool of sheep. It must be washed very carefully. If you machine wash and dry it-- it will felt or shrink. Which is great if you did it on purpose. It must be washed by hand, gently rubbing the dirty area,
 and laid out to dry.

3. Alpaca Yarn - This yarn is a great yarn to use
if you are allergic to wool, as it is hypo allergenic.
It is also warmer them wool.
It can be mixed with other fibers, like acrylic to make a softer or for a warmer project. This yarn can be a little more expensive then wool or Acrylic, as it is harder to get.

5. Cotton Yarn - This is yarn made of 100% Cotton.

It is a great yarn for washcloths and towels, and for lots of other projects as well. This yarn can be stiff when worked up, but there are a few styles that are softer. Usually the colors are dyed, so be sure to wash in cold water.
6.  Other Yarns - There are many other yarn fibers and yarn blends such as cashmere, ox, silk and other animal fibers. Sometimes these are blended with Acrylic or wool.
Again, read the yarn label. The yarn label will also give you instructions on how to wash the yarn.
7. Tarn - T- Shirt Yarn - This is yarn made  of T Shirts that have been cut into strips. They can be cotton or poly blend, both work great. It's a great way to recycle old T Shirts in to something useful. I have made bags, rugs and baskets with this Yarn.
8. Plarn - Plastic Yarn - This is yarn made from plastic bags. This is a little time consuming but a great fun to do.
You can make shopping bags, baskets, place mats or rugs with this yarn.

The Bottom line is anything that can be cut or torn into long strips can be crocheted or knitted, and can be called Yarn.
Like table clothes, sheets, or jeans.

And you can crochet or knit with anything that is already in stings like rope, ribbon, thread, leather or cord.

I actually love to find odd and different types
of "Yarn" to Crochet With and see what fun
 things I can make!
