Skill : Super Duper Easy

Materials -

Crochet Hook - G

1 stitch marker to mark rounds ( is use a piece of different color of yarn.

Yarn - Worsted Weight (4) 1 oz each of 4 colors of choice,

                                             1 oz of white, small amount of brown.

I used Red Heart Super Saver - C1 - Spring Green

                                                   C2 - Lavender

                                                   C3 - Medium Pink

                                                   C4 - Auqua

Fiber Fill Stuffing - 4 oz.

Yarn needle

Stitches -

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Single crochet decrease ( sc dec)

Double Crochet ( dc)

Size - approximately 12 inches around

Gauge - 4 sc = 1 inch

We will be stitching in the round, so no joins at ends of rounds.

Step 1 -

R : 1 With C1, ch5, make a loop, 8 sc in the loop ( 8sc)

Mark this st, with your st marker and move up each round.

R : 2 - 2 sc in each sc (16sc)

R : 3 - 1 sc in each sc ( 16sc)

R : 4 - *1 sc in the 1st st, 2 sc in the next st* Repeat From * to * around

(24 sc)

R : 5 - *1 sc in the 1st 2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc* Repeat From * to * around

(32 sc)

R : 6 - *1 sc in the next 3 sc, 2 sc in the next sc * Repeat From * to * around

(40 sc)

R : 7 - 1 sc in each sc (40sc)

 R : 8 -  *1sc in the next 4 sc, , 2 sc in the next sc * Repeat From * to * around

(48 sc)

R : 9 - *1sc in the next 5 sc, , 2 sc in the next sc * Repeat From * to * around

(56 sc)

R : 10 : 1 sc in each sc (56sc)

R : 11  - *1sc in the next 6 sc, , 2 sc in the next sc * Repeat From * to * around

(64 sc)

R : 12 -  *1sc in the next 7 sc, , 2 sc in the next sc * Repeat From * to * around

(72 sc)

Should measure about 6 1/2 inches

The Heimlich Maneuver And My Husband Saved My Life | Posh Pooch Designs

Today's post has nothing to do with

 Yarn, Crochet, Knitting, Patterns  or Dogs.

It is about something that happened to me.

James 4: 14
"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. 
For what is your life? It is even a vapour,
 that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away."

Last night our 2 year old Grand daughter

 spent the night for the very first time.

It was her first sleep over and she did great.

We played games, read books, watched cartoons, 

worked puzzles and she rode her 

scooter around the house.

Then for breakfast she helped me 

make "green flower pancakes".

She was sitting up on the bar in the

 kitchen chatting and singing.

Fun times!

Then I turned,
put my vitamin in my mouth, 

reached to grab my carrot juice, 

and the pill slid down

and lodged in my throat...... 

I was choking!

I could not breath! 

I was trying to let my husband know,
without scaring my grand daughter.

He was over on the couch waiting 

for me to bring him some pancakes.

After gasping for my breath,
For what seemed like hours,

 before he turned and looked at me.

I was in a panic!

I was not afraid of dying,
I was afraid of dying
in front of my grand daughter.

Every muscle in my body had tightened,
 my chest  was throbbing, and
felt like it was tightening,
 I was sure I was seeing stars.

My husband came into the kitchen.
He was so calm.
He gently placed his arms around me,
and squeezed me.
Then he tightened his grip,
and squeezed me harder.
It worked and the vitamin
 popped into the sink.

He calmly performed the
Heimlich Maneuver

Every Muscle in my body aches,
But I am alive.
And I am thankful for my husband
who calmly rescued me.
I Love My Hubby!

My grand daughter never even noticed,
She was eating her pancake and
singing 'Strawberry Shortcake"

Are you a Kentucky Derby Fan?

Do You wear the Big Hats?

I have never been to the Kentucky Derby,

 But think it would be a lot of fun!

Those big wonderful hats the ladies wear

 to the Kentucky Derby, 

inspired me to design this hat.

 It is a great Summer hat.

And Can be made with a 

Stiff brim or floppy brim.

Add all The flowers, bows, 

butterflies and 

embellishments that you want.

Wouldn't It be fun to have a 

Kentucky Derby party?

Floppy Brim.

Stiff Brim.

Kentucky Lady Hat Crochet pattern

Skill: Easy

Materials -

Crochet Hook -H

Yarn - Worsted Weight (4)4 oz of each color

     Black - C1, White - C2, Red C3

      I use Red heart Super Saver

Boning - 2 yards, To stiffen the hat brim

Yarn Needle

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Half Double Crochet (hdc)

Slip Stitch ( sl st)

Skip (sk)

Size - Youth to Adult -18-10 inch head

Pattern -

Note: Ch 2 counts as the 1st stitch of the next round.

With C1, Ch 5, join in a circle

R : 1 - Ch 2, counts as 1st dc, 9 hdc in the circle, join, to ch3 with a sl st,

(10 hdc)

R : 2 - Change to C2, leaving C1 attached, Ch3, 2 hdc in each hdc around, join, ( 20 hdc)

R : 3 - Ch2, 1 hdc in the same st, *1 hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st*,

Repeat from * to * around, join, (30hdc)

R : 4 - Change to C1, leaving C2 still attached, Ch3, 1 hdc in the same st, *1 hdc in the next 2 st, 2 hdc in the next st*,

Repeat from * to * around, join, (40hdc)

R : 5 - Ch2, 1 hdc in the same st, *1 hdc in the next 3 st, 2 hdc in the next st*,

Repeat from * to * around, join, (50hdc)

R : 6 - Change to C2, 1 hdc in each hdc around, join, ( 50 hdc)

R : 7 - Ch 3, sk the next hdc, *hdc in the next st, ch 1, skip the next st*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ( 50sts)

R : 8 - Change to C1, Ch 2, 1 hdc in the 1st st, *1 hdc in the ch 1 space,

1 hdc in the next hdc*, Repeat From * to * around, join,

R : 9-16 - Repeat R : 7 and 8, alternating rows, and yarns every 2 rows

R : 17 - 1 hdc in each hdc, join, (50hdc)

R : 18 - Change to C3,1 sc in each st, join,ch1 (50sc)

R : 18-21 - 1 sc in each sc, join, ch1 ( 50 sc)

                   tie off after R : 22

R : 22 - Starting the Brim - Change to C1, 2 hdc in each sc, join, ch2

             (100 hdc)

R : 23 - 1 hdc in each hdc, join, (100hdc)

R : 24 - Change to C2, ch 2, *2 hdc in the next st, 1 hdc in the next st*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ch 2 ( 150hdc)

R : 25 - Ch 3, sk the next hdc, *hdc in the next st, ch 1, skip the next st*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ( 150sts)

R : 26 - Change to C1, Ch 2, 1 hdc in the 1st st, *1 hdc in the ch 1 space,

 1 hdc in the next hdc*, Repeat From * to * around, join,

R : 27 - Repeat R : 25

R : 28 - Change to C2, Repeat R : 26

R : 29 - Repeat R : 25

R : 30 - Change to C1, Repeat R : 26

R : 31 - Repeat R : 25

R : 32 - Change to C2, 1 sc in each st, join, ch 1 (150sc)

Stop here for a floppy brim.

R : 33 - For a Stiff Brim, 1 sc in each sc, stitching over the boning, join, ( 150sc)

Blocking the Hat Brim -

Lay the hat brim out flat and spray with water.Dampen, But do not soak.

 Pin to a blocking board and let dry.

This will take out any ripples or bumps.

Stiffening the Hat Brim_

 This is the boning, I purchased at Hobby Lobby. 

it comes in a 2 yard package.

 Take the fabric cover off.

First - sc around the boning, all around the hat brim.

When you come to the end, tuck the ends together and sc.

join and securely sew closed.  

I did find that the ends do not want to stay together. 

So I used some clear packing tape, and taped the ends together, 

over lapping about 2 inches.

And this worked great.

attached to the side of the hat.

This hat is so pretty and fun to make.

I think it would look awesome in

 bright yellow and black.

This yarn is the perfect yarn for a 

Summer shawl.

Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable - Tidal check out all the colors!

It is a Wonderful yarn to work with and the light weight

 but luscious yarn is a great weight for summer items.

But This Yarn has now been discontinued.

We decided to retest and update this Crochet Pattern.

We used Mandala Ombre in the the colorway of Pure for 

The New Video And Demo Photos.

It is also a Med (4) yarn and works up beautifully for this Shawl.

This Shawl is also perfect for swim suit wrap 

at the beach or pool. or throw it over your shoulders 

on a cool morning or evening. 

This shawl  measures 

60 inches wide from the points, and 40 inches long.

and it is super easy to make even bigger.
