Skill: Easy

Materials:
Hook- H/ 5.00 MM
Yarn - Worsted Weight (4) or Cotton yarn - I used Peaches and Cream Cotton yarn
Small amount of fiber fill - about a handful
Yarn Needle
2 straight pins
Decorative Buttons

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Back Loop Only (blo)

Size: 2 inches tall, 6 inches around

Notes:
Ch 3 Counts as dc
Ch1 Does not Count as a sc
Rounds are joined with a slst


The Pattern : Starting with the bottom of the cup:

R: 1 - Ch 4, (ch3 counts as dc) 9 dc in the 2nd ch from the hook,
join with a sl st to form a circle, ch 3 (10dc)

R: 2 - 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, 2 dc in each dc, around join, ch1 (20dc)

R: 3 -BLO this row only)
           1 sc in each dc around join, ch 1(20sc)

R: 4 - 1 sc in each sc around, join, ch 1 (20sc)

R: 5 - R: 7 - Repeat R: 4

R : 8 - Repeat R: 4, Forming the cup handle, then ch 7, join ch to the loop that lines up even on R : 3, sc back up the around the ch, and join to the top, tie off.

Coffee/ Top of Cup

The Coffee:
Repeat R: 1 and R: 2 From the Coffee Cup.
Tie off weave in the ends.

Stuff the Coffee cup, Place the Coffee on top.
Join the yarn to the sc above the handle, sc around the top of the cup, sewing the coffee and cup together. tie off and weave in the ends.

Add a Decorative button or applique.

Washcloth with a Pocket Crochet Pattern By Sara Sach

Skill: Easy

Materials:
Crochet Hook - H / 5.00 MM
Cotton Yarn - 2-3 oz depending on size -
                       I used I love This Cotton by Hobby Lobby

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)

Size: 6, 9, 12 inch wash cloths
 Pattern is written  6 inch (9 and 12 inch in parenthesis)

Ch1 at the end of each row, is a turning ch, and does not count as a st.

Square Cloth:
R: 1 - Ch 18(28, 38), 1 dc in the 2nd ch from the hook, * 1 sc in the next ch, 1 dc in the next ch, repeat from * across row, ch 1, turn. (17, 27, 37 sts)

R: 2 - * 1 dc in the 1st st, 1 sc in the next st ( dc in the scs, sc in the dcs for pattern)
repeat from * across row, ch1, turn.(17, 27, 37 sts)

R: 3 - * 1 sc in the 1st st, 1 dc in the next st, Repeat from * across row, ch1, turn.
(17, 27, 37 sts)

R: 4 - R: 16(24, 32) - Repeat R: 2 and R: 3, alternating rows.
Tie off, weave in your ends.

Corner Pocket:

R: 1 - Ch 4, 3 dc in the 4th ch from the hook, ch 1 turn (4 dc)

R: 2 - 1 sc and 1 dc in the first st, 1 sc in the next st, 1 dc in the next st,
1 sc and1 dc in the last st, ch1, turn (6 sts)

R: 3 - 1 dc and 1 sc, in the first st, 1 dc in the next st,
1 sc, in the next st, 1 dc in the next st, 1 sc in the next st,
1 dc and 1 sc in the last st, ch1, turn (8 sts)

R: 4 - Follow previous pattern of sc, dc across row, ch1, turn (8sts) No increases

R: 5 - 1 sc and 1 dc in the first st, sc, dc, sc, dc, sc, dc across row,
 1 sc and1 dc in the last st, ch1, turn (10sts)

R: 6 - 6 Inch -Repeat R: 4 (10sts)

9 inch  - R: 7- R: 11 - Repeat R: 4

12 inch R: 7 - R: 15 - Repeat R: 4
Do not tie off.

Trim  - 1 sc in each st across, All Sizes.

Place the Triangle in the one of the corners of the washcloth.

 sc evenly across sewing the corner to the washcloth, 3 sc in the corner, sc evenly across the other side,

Continue to sc evenly on the other sides of the washcloth,
placing 3 sc in each corner, join to the 1st sc, and tie off.
Weave in your ends.

If you want the Corner Pocket to be a scrubby, use 1 strand of scrubby yarn and 1 strand of cotton yarn held together. it works great.

Learning How to Dye Wool With Koolaide

about Dying yarn with Koolaide

I thought it would be fun to Try.

So here is what I did.

The first thing I did was buy some wool, and soak it in cold water.

And then I bought some Koolaide and vinegar.

This is a very inexpensive project.

The yarn was about $8.00

I bought it from Hobby Lobby

(using my 40% off coupon)

The Koolaide was 19cents each

and the Vinegar was about $1.50

Following the directions from the blog I spoke of ,

 I made some purple, red, orange and green batches

 and began the dying process.

(My kitchen smells all fruity)

After rinsing well, I hung it outside,

in the aspen tree in my back yard to dry.

I was disappointed in the colors at first,

But once they dried....I loved them.

I am calling them...

Shades of Sherbert!

I'll let you know what I decide to make with them.

Yarn Bomb -- Big Spool!

UPS left this on my Doorstep...

I was so excited, I thought it was a big spool of yarn!

NOT!

Well, when my hubby was done with his project,

he gave me the empty spool.

I decided to Yarn Bomb it!

First,

 I covered the center with Home Town USA yarn,

wrapping it around, and around, and around......

And around, till the center was covered.

Then I crocheted a circle top,

using different scraps of yarn.

By doing decrease stitches on the last 2 rows,

 it naturally fit over the edge.

Lastly, I made a circle on the top of the bottom,

and sewed it in place.

I was going to use this as a nifty side table

 in my craft room,

But I think Maximo and Rosie Bell

Have other ideas.

I Love How the Spool

turned out....

I decided to design a dog rug that I could

take with me in our RV, for camping trips.

I wanted it to be completely washable and

able to roll up and store.
