Patriotic Bow Tie For Dogs, Pets and Humans

I wrote this pattern a couple years ago,
and while searching some of my sites,
I realized I had never
blogged about the pattern.

This dog Collar pattern is adjustable
and will fit any size dog, cat or pet.
The pattern is written in 3 colors
but can make it any color combination you choose.
How fun it would be to make for for even Holiday!

We have added a video tutorial!

Skill: Easy

Materials:
Hook : H
Yarn needle
Yarn: Worsted weight small amount of Red, White and Blue

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single crochet (sc)
Back Loops only (blo)

Getting Started:
The first thing you need to do is measure your dog's neck.
You will need to make the collar your dog's neck measurement plus 1 inch
Maximo's neck is 10 inches, so I will make his collar 11 inches
10+1= 11 inches

Collar:
Ch 1 does not count as a st, it is a turning chain.
R : 1 - With Blue Yarn, ch 6, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook
and in each ch across, ch 1, turn ( 5sc)
R : 2 - Working in the BLO, 1 sc in each sc, ch1, turn (5sc)
R : 3-24  - Repeat R : 2 for as many rows as you need for your dog's neck measurement.
Put the to ends of the collar together and sl st closed, to form a circle.

Bowtie:
Chain 31 with White yarn

R : 1 - 1 sc in 2nd ch from the hook, 29 more sc,  turn ( 30 sc)

R : 2 - Change to red yarn, ch1, working in the back loops,
1 sc in each sc, turn

R : 3 - Change to white yarn, ch1, working in the back loops,
1 sc in each sc, turn

R : 4 - Change to red yarn, ch1, working in the back loops,
1 sc in each sc, turn

Put the ends of the bowtie together, and using the yarn tail sew them,
weave in the end.

Center of the Bow:
Ch 10 with Blue yarn
R : 1 - 9 sc, ch1, turn
R : 2 - 9 sc, and then tie off leaving a 8 inch tail for yarn

Wrap the center piece around the center of the bow tie,
and sew the ends together,
tight enough to hold, but loose enough to be able to
slide the collar through the back.

I hope you make some of these
for your dog, cat, and all pets.
