This Beanie is designed with
It is thick, soft and very comfortable.
It was easy to work with also.
I designed this Chunky Beanie to
resemble the Colorado State Flag.
And it is also a basic chunky beanie
that can be made using any chunky yarn.
Chunky Colorado Beanie Crochet Pattern

Materials:
Hook -K
Yarn - Chunky (6)
I used Lion Brand
Hometown USA
C1 -Blue-7oz.,
C2 -White 3 oz.
C3- Yellow, small
amount
C4 - Red, Small Amount
Yarn needle
Tape Measure
Stitches-
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet ( dc)
Double Crochet Decrease (dc dec)
Back Loop only (
blo)
Note:- Hat is Sized For Child( 16-18 inches)
and Adult/ youth(19-22 inches).
and Adult/ youth(19-22 inches).
R: 1 - Starting at the had band - With C1, ch 6,
1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch,
Ch 1,( ch1 does not count as a st) turn ( 5 sc)
R: 2 - blo, 1 sc in each sc, ch 1 turn ( 5 sc)
R : 3- 35 Repeat R : 2 for child size hat
R : 3 3- 50 Repeat R
: 2 for adult size hat
Put the 2 ends together and sc across,
sewing the ends together,to form the hat
band.
R : 50 - Turn, st 1 sc in the top of each row around, join,
ch 3
(35 sc child, 50 sc adult)
R : 51 - 1 dc in each sc, join, (35 dc child, 50 dc adult)
R : 52 - Change to C2, ch1, 1 sc in the 1st st, ch1, skip
the next st,
*1sc in the next st, ch1, skip the next st*,
repeat from * to* around hat, join, ch 1
R : 53 - *1sc in the next st, ch1, skip the next st*,
repeat from * to* around hat, join, ch 1
R : 54 -*1sc in the next st, ch1, skip the next st*,
repeat from * to* around hat, join,
R : 55 - Change back to C1, 1 dc in each sc and in each ch1
space, join ch 3
(35 dc child, 50 dc adult)
R : 56 - 1 dc in each dc, join, ch 3
R : 57 - St 1st 2 dc tog( dc dec) 1 dc in the next 5dc, *1
dc dec, 1 dc in next 5 dc*,
Join, ch 3 ( 30dc-child,
43 dc-adult)
R : 58 - St 1st 2 dc tog( dc dec) 1 dc in the next 4dc, *1
dc dec, 1 dc in next 4 dc*,
Join, ch 3 (25dc-child,
36dc-adult)
R : 59 - St 1st 2 dc tog( dc dec) 1 dc in the next 3dc, *1
dc dec, 1 dc in next 3dc*,
Join, ch 3 (20dc-child,
30dc-adult)
For child's Hat -
Cut yarn leaving a 12 inch tail of
yarn,
thread onto needle
and sew hole in top of hat closed. tie securely.
R : 60 - St 1st 2 dc tog( dc dec) 1 dc in the next 2dc, *1
dc dec, 1 dc in next 2dc*,
Join, ch 3 (18dc-adult)
For Adult - Cut yarn leaving a 12 inch tail of yarn,
thread onto needle
and sew hole in top of hat closed. tie securely.
For the applique : With C3,
Ch 5, 9 dc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join with a sl st,
(10dc)
Change to C4, ch 3, 1 dc in the same st, 2 dc in next 7 dc,
tie off. weave in your ends. place on hat and sew into place with matching
yarn.
Pom pom - With one strand each of the yarns, wrap around
your 4 fingers loosely,
4 times.
4 times.
Cut a piece yarn 16
inches long, and slip through the loops, pull and tie securely.
Trim the strands evenly and attach to the top of the hat.
