Don' t tell my youngest Grand daughter,
But I designed her a super sweet hat.
The crochet pattern I designed
is For a children's Beret Hat, But
I made it look like
Strawberry shortcake!
I used Red Heart Shimmer Yarns
and it is so Sparkly!
She loves Sparkly things
and Strawberry Shortcake!

Size - Fits a 17-18 inch head, My grand daughter a little over 2 years old.
Gauge - I did not add a gauge because it was a difficult to
measure all the increases and decreases.

Materials -
Hook - K
Yarn - 2 skeins of Red Heart Shimmer Pink (C1)
20 oz. of Green Shimmer(C2), And White Shimmer(C3)
Stitches and Terms -
Chain ( ch)
Slip Stitch ( sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet ( dc)
Front Post Double Crochet ( fpdc)
Double Crochet Decrease (

Skip ( sk)
Note - The entire hat is stitched using 2 strands of yarn.
R : 1 - Using 2 strands of C1, Ch 3,
10 dc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join to the 1st dc, ( 10dc)
R : 2 - Ch 3, 1 dc in the same st as the ch 3,
2 dc in each dc, join to the top of the ch3, (20dc)
R : 3 - Ch 3, 1 dc in the same st as the ch 3,
2 dc in each dc, join to the top of the ch3, (40dc)
R : 4 - Ch 3, *1 fpdc in the next st, 1 dc in the next st*,
Repeat From * to * around, join, (20 dc, 20 fpdc =40 sts)
R : 5 - Repeat R : 4
R : 6 - Ch 3, *1 fpdc in the next st, 2 dc in the next st*,
Repeat From * to * around, join, (40 dc, 20 fpdc =60 sts)

R : 14 - Change to C3, still using 2 strands of yarn, ch1, 1 sc in each dc, join ( 40 sc)
R : 15 - Ch1, 1 sc in each sc around, join ( 40sc)
R : 16 - Change to C2, still using 2 strands of yarn, ch1,1 sc in each sc, join (40)
R : 17 - 1 sc in the next 18 sc, 1 sl st in the next st,
ch1, TURN( 18sc)
R : 18 - sk the sl st, 1 sc in next 16 sc, sl st in the last
st, ch 1, turn
(16sc, 2 sl st)
R: 19 - 1 sc in each sc, turn, ch 1 ( 16 sc)
R : 20 - sl st in the 1st sc, 1 sc in next 14 sc, sl st in the last st, ch 1, turn
(14sc, 2 sl st)
R : 21 -1 sc in each sc, turn, tie off, weave in your ends.
( 14sc)
Pom pom -
With C2, Wrap the yarn around your 4 fingers 35 times.
With
a 12 inch piece of matching yarn, slip the yarn
through the loops and tie
securely.
Trim the loops evening and attach to the top of the hat.
