a mug of hot cocoa.

This Santa Coaster is so cute you,

 could use it as a Tree ornament!

Crochet Pattern by Sara Sach

Skill: Easy

Materials -

Hook - H/ 5.00 MM
Yarn Needle

Yarn - Any Worsted Weight Yarn (4) or Cotton Yarn
           Pink, White and Red Sparkle, tiny bit of blue

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch (sl st)

Half Double Crochet (hdc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Back loop only  (blo)

Front loop only (flo)

Skip (sk)

Size: 5 inches

Notes:
Ch 3 counts as dc
Ch 2 counts a hdc

R: 1 - With pink yarn,  Ch 4, (counts as 1 dc) 9 dc in the 4th ch from the hook, 

join, ch3 (10dc)

R : 2 - 1 dc in the same st as ch3, 2 dc in each st around, join, ch 3

(20dc)

R : 3 - Change to the White yarn, 1 dc in the same st as ch3,
*1dc in next st, 2 dc in the next st*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ch 2 (30dc)

R : 4 - FLO, 1 hdc in each st around join, ch2 (30hdc)

This makes a nice edge for the Mug or wine glass to stay in place on the coaster.

R : 5 - Beard -Working blo of R : 3, 1 slst in the 1st st, sk the next st, 4 dc in the next st,
sk the next st, 1 slst in the next st, sk the next st, 4  dc in the next st,
sk the next st, 1 slst in the next st, (2 shell st made) turn, ch2

R : 6 - 1 slst in  2nd  dc of the 1st shell st, ch2, 4 dc in the
 slst between the 2 shell sts, ch2, 1 sl st in the 3rd dc of the 2nd shell st, ch2, join to 1st slst,
tie off and weave in your ends.

R : 7 -Santa's Hat - count up 5 sts from the right side of the beard,
attach Red yarn with a slst, Ch 3,1 dc in the next 11 sts, turn, (12dc)

R : 8 - Sl St in the 2nd and 3rd st, sc in the next 9 sts, Ch 4, turn,
sk 1st ch, 1 slst in the next 3 chs, join to the 1st sc. tie off, weave in your end.

How to make a Tiny Pom pom -

Wrap your yarn around your 2 middle finger 12 times.

With a 10 inch piece of matching yarn, slip it through the loops

 and tie securely. Trim the loops evenly.

 Use the tie to attach the pom pom onto the 3rd ch on Santa Hat.

Santa's Face is embroidered. His nose is 2 straight stitches or a French knot,

 and the Eyes, Brows and mustache are simple straight stitches.
