Itis a uniquely designed poncho in 

that it is not pointed or round, It is rectangle.

It is casual enough to wear over your shorts,

 jeans or swimsuit, but also very classy, 

and would look great over a sundress.

And because it is stitched in a rectangle shape,

 it can be used as a lightweight throw as well.

I designed this poncho with

Red Heart Super Saver

Because I wanted it to be durable, 

hold it's shape and of course, washable.

Materials:

Hook : I

Yarn – Worsted Weight (4) 15 oz

            I used Red Heart –Spa Blue Fleck (C1) - 2 skeins (10oz)

            Warm Brown (C2) – 1 skein (5 oz)

Yarn needle for weaving in ends.

Stitches –

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Triple Crochet (tr)

Foundation Double Crochet (FDC)

Skip (sk)

Space (sp)

Size – Measures Approx. 20 X 40 inches.

Notes – Ch 1 at beginning or ends of rows do not count as a st.

When changing colors we will ch1, after the color change.

Pattern:

R : 1 –With C2, FDC 97 sts, turn ch1 ( 97 FDC)

Optional Start – ch 98, 1 dc in the 2^nd ch from the hook and

 in each ch across, turn, ch1

R : 2 – 1 Tr in the 1^st 2 dc, sk 2 dc, *tr in the next st, 

cross back and tr in the 2^nd sk dc, ch1, sk2*

Repeat From * to * across row 30 times, 

for a total of 31 tr cross over sts,

Tr in the last 2 dc, turn ch1 (31 TR crossover sts, 4 tr)

R : 3 – 1 dc in each st and ch across row, turn, (97 dc)

R : 4 – Change to C1, ch1,  1dc in the 1^st 2 dc, sk 2dc, 

*dc, ch1, dc in the next st, ch1, sk 2 dc*

Repeat from * to * across row, 1 dc in the last 2 dc, turn, ch1. 

(23 V sts, 4 dc)

R : 5 – 1dc in the 1^st 2 sts,  *ch1, 3dc in the ch1 sp of the next V st* 

Repeat From * to * across row, ch1,

Dc in the last 2 dc, turn, c1 (23 clusters, 4 dc)

R : 6 – 1Dc in the 1^st 2 dc, *Ch1,  dc,ch1, dc  in the 2^nd dc

 ( center dc of the cluster)* Repeat From * to * Across Row, 

ch1, dc in the last 2 dc, turn, ch 2 (23 V sts, 4dc)

R : 7 – Repeat R : 5

R : 8 – Repeat R : 6

R : 9-15 – Continue to repeat R : 5 and R : 6 Alternating Rows.

R : 16 –Change to C2, 1 sc in each st and ch across, turn, ch 1 ( 97sc)

R : 17 – 1 sc in each sc, turn, ch 2 (97 sc)

R : 18 – Change to C1, Repeat R : 4

R : 19 –30  -  Repeat R : 5-15

R : 31 –Change to C2, 1 dc, in each st and ch across, turn, ch1 (97dc)

R : 32 – Forming the neck opening, 1 tr in 1^st 2 dc, sk3 dc,

 *tr in the next st, cross back and tr in the 2^nd sk dc, ch1, sk2*

 Repeat From * to * 8 more times, ( 9 crossover sts) ch1,

 1 tr in the next 2 dc,Ch 31, sk 31 dc, join to next dc with a TR, 

  Tr in next st, sk 3 dc,

Repeat From * to * 9 times, skip 2 sts, 1 tr in the last 2 sts, turn

(2tr, 9 crossover sts, 2tr, ch 31, sk 31, 2 Tr, 9 crossover sts, 2 tr)

R : 33- 1 dc in each st and ch across, turn ( 97 dc)

R : 34 – Repeat R :4

R : 35-46  -- Repeat  R : 5-R : 12

R : 47 -  Repeat R : 16

R : 48 - Repeat R : 17

R : 49 –Repeat R : 4

R : 50-R : 61 – Repeat R : 5- R : 15

R : 62 – Repeat R: 31

R : 63 – Repeat R : 2

R : 64 –Repeat R : 62, tie off and weave in your ends.

Side Trim – Attach c2, to the bottom edge of the one of the sides,

 dc evenly down the side by stitching 2 dc in the end of each row,

 tie off at the end of the row and do the same 

for the other side of the poncho.

I named This Poncho Sand and Sea Poncho

 because of the colors

 I chose to make it with. 

But also it is perfect for wearing to the beach, 

or even boating.

It is the perfect take a long for any

 outing or vacation.
