Kwanzaa Luminary Jar Cozie By Special Request | Posh Pooch Designs

Kwanzaa Luminary Jar Cozie
Crochet Pattern By Special Request
By Sara Sach of Posh Pooch Designs
A Very Dear Friend asked me to make a Luminary for her
Kwanzaa Party, after seeing the other Jar cozies that I had designed.
The Party is at her mom's apartment, and  they are not allowed to use
real candles. She wants to give them to her family and friends,
as a reminder of the party and the time spent together.
I am so very honored that she asked me to design
the Luminary. I wasn't sure how Kwanzaa was celebrated,
and wanted to make sure I was respectful
 and represented  it right.
I hope I did this Beautiful Celebration justice.

A Brief Explanation:
"The celebration honors African Heritage in African-American culture
and is observed from December 26 to January 1,
culminating in a feast and gift giving.
Kwanzaa has seven core principles (Nguzo Saba).
It was created by Maulana Karenga and was first celebrated in 1966–67."

I was inspired By the Kwanza Candles.
During Kwanzaa a special candle holder called a kinara is used.
kinara holds seven candles, three red ones on the left, three green ones on
the right, with a black candle in the center.
