Peppermint Frost Cowl Crochet Pattern

Skill: Easy

Materials:
Crochet Hook – I / 5.50 mm
Yarn – Med (4) Caron 3 oz. White (C1) 3 oz. Red (C2)
Yarn Needle

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Foundation Double Crochet (FDC)
Skip (sk)
Space (sp)
Stitch (st)
Change to (chgto)

Special Stitch:
Long Single Crochet/ Spike Stitch (Lsc)
Stitch the sc around the st of the st the row below


Size: 9 X 34
3 sts = 1 inch
2 Rows = 1 inch (1 dc, 1 sc)
Multiples – 5 + 3

Notes:
Ch1 Does not count as a st
Ch3 Counts as a dc
When Changing colors, ch1 after the color change
Do not cut yarn when changing colors, trail it up the side of the cowl

Pattern:
The Demo Swatch is made using White and Green yarn.

R: 1 – With C1, FDC 28, turn, ch 3 (28 FDC)

R: 2 – 1 dc in the next 2 sts, ch2, sk 2 sts,
*1 dc in the next 3 sts, ch2 sk 2 sts*
Repeat From * to * 3 more times,
1 dc in the last 3 sts, turn.
(18 dc, 10 chs = 28 sts)

R: 3 – Chgto C 2, Ch1, *1 sc in the 1st dc, Lsc in the next dc, 
sc in the next dc, 2 sc in the ch2 sp*
Repeat From * to * 4 more times,
1 sc in the next dc, Lsc in the next dc, 1 sc in the last dc, turn, ch 3
(6 Lsc, 22 sc = 28 sts)

R: 4 – 1 dc in the next 2 sc, ch2,
*1 dc in the next 3 sc, ch 2* Repeat From * to * 3 more times,
1 dc in the last 3 sc, turn.
(18dc, 10 chs = 28 sts)

R: 5 – Chgto C1, Ch1, *1 sc in the 1st dc, Lsc in the next dc,
 sc in the next dc, 2 sc in the ch2 sp*
Repeat From * to * 4 more times,
1 sc in the next dc, Lsc in the next dc, 1 sc in the last dc, turn, ch 3
(6 Lsc, 22 sc = 28 sts)

R: 6 – Repeat R: 4

R: 7 – 35 –Repeat R: 3 – R: 6 – Alternating Rows and Changing colors every 2 rows.
Add More Rows in increments of 2 if a longer cowl is desired.
Make sure you end on a R: 4 Repeat

Turn Working down the side of cowl were the yarn was carried up the side.
Sc evenly down the side of the cowl.

Place the ends of the cowl together, wrong side out,
 and slst them together, tie off weave in the ends.

Flip the cowl Right side out.


Tie:
With 1 strand of each color, ch 50.
 If a longer chain is desired, you can make the chain as long as you would like.
Using both colors make 2 pompoms and attach one pom pom
 to each end of the chain.
I made 2 pom poms using my pompom maker, the are about 3. 5 inches.

Tie the chain around the cowl at the seam, gathering up the cowl gently,
 and tie securely.
