It can also be used as an applique on hats, scarves, cowls,
bags and anything you want to add a heart to.
I designed my Valentine Coasters With Acrylic yarn, But cotton or blends will work great as well.

Materials:
Crochet hook – H/ 5.00 MM
Yarn – Med (4) Acrylic Red and White or 2 colors of choice
Yarn needle
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst0
Single Crochet (sc)
Double crochet (dc)
Skip (sk)
Space (sp)
Change to (Chgto)
Size: 5 X 5 Inches
Crochet hook – H/ 5.00 MM
Yarn – Med (4) Acrylic Red and White or 2 colors of choice
Yarn needle
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst0
Single Crochet (sc)
Double crochet (dc)
Skip (sk)
Space (sp)
Change to (Chgto)
Notes:
Ch1 Does not Count as a st
Ch3 Counts as a dc
Join Rounds to the ch3 with a slst, unless otherwise stated
Pattern:
R: 1 – With Red yarn, ch 5, join, ch 3, 11 dc, join to the ch3 with a slst,
Ch3 (12 dc)
ch2, sk 2dc, 2dc in the next dc, ch2, sk 2 dc,
*2dc, ch2, 2dc in the next, ch2, sk 2dc, 2 dc in the next dc, ch2, sk 2 dc*
Repeat From * to * 2 more times,
Join the ch3, ch1.
(4 sets of 2dc, ch2, 2dc, ch2, 2dc)
3 tr in the sp between the next2 dc, 2 dc in the next ch2 sp,
2dc in the ch2 sp,
3 tr in the sp between the next2 dc, 2 dc in the next ch2 sp,
Sc in the next 2 dc, 2sc in the next ch2 sp,
sc in the next 2 dc,
2sc in the
next ch2 sp, sc in the next 2 dc, 2 sc in the ch 2 sp,
Join to the 1st sc with a slst,
R: 5 – sl st
in the next 4 sc, 2sc in the ch2 sp,
Dc in the next 2 dc, 2 tr in each of the 3 tr, dc in the 2 dc,
Join to the 1st sc with a slst,
Dc in the next 2 dc, 2 tr in each of the 3 tr, dc in the 2 dc,
2 sc in the ch2 sp, sc in the next sc, 2 sc in the ch2 sp,
Dc in the 2 dc, 2 tr in each of the 3 tr, dc in the 2 dc,
2 sc in the ch2 sp, join to the next sc with a slst.
* ch3, sk the next st, sc in the next st*
Repeat From * to * around the heart, join to the 1st sc,
tie off, weave in your ends.
