The School Spirit Beanies Crochet Pattern was
originally designed in September 2012.
I decided this year, ten years later, was a great time
to retest and update the pattern with lots of new pics
and a brand new video.
The Pattern Has Four Sizes -
Newborn to 3 months,
6 to 12 months,
Child,
Youth / Adult
Keep in mind this hat is very stretchy
The beanie is designed to be used with any
school and team colors of your choosing.
It can be stitched up in any Acrylic yarns or Your
fiber you prefer.
Add a pom pom or not. With or without it, this
Easy School Spirit Beanie Hat is perfect for cheering
Your favorites teams and Schools.
Or Just make it in Your favorite colors.

Materials:
Crochet Hook- I / 5.50 mm
Yarn: Medium Weight (4) Acrylic – Red
Heart Super Saver
(Main color, C2 And C3 of Choice)
(N - 1 oz., T – 1.5 oz., C- 2oz.
oz., A – 2.5 oz.)
Yarn Needle
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Change to (chgto)
Sizes: Size notes in (parentheses – N, T, C, A)
Newborn (N - 3 ms.) – 14 inches
Toddler – 6 – 12 ms.) 16 inches
Child – 18 inches
Adult/ Youth – 20-22 inches
Notes:
Rounds are joined to the ch3 with a slst,
unless indicated otherwise
in the pattern
Ch3 counts as a dc
When Changing colors, ch1/ ch2 after the color change.
R: 1 – With Mc, Ch 5, join in a circle, Ch3, 9 dc in the
circle,
join, ch 3 (All Sizes
- 10 dc)
R: 2 - 1 dc in the same st as the ch 3, 2 dc in each dc
around,
join, ch 3 (All Sizes
– 20 dc)
R: 3 - 1 dc in the same st as the ch 3,
*1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in the next dc*,
Repeat from * to *around, join, ch 3 (N, T, C, A – 30 dc)
(Skip to R: 7 for N to 3 ms)
R: 4 - 1 dc in the same st as the ch 3,
*1 dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in the next dc*
Repeat from * to * around, join, ch 3 (T, C, A – 40 dc)
(Skip to R: 7 for
6 to 12 ms)
R: 5 - 1 dc in the same st as the ch 3,
*1 dc in the next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc,
Repeat from *to * around, join, ch 3 (C, A - 50 dc)
(Skip to R: 7 for
Youth)
R: 6 - 1 dc in the same st as the ch 2,
*1 dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in the next dc*
Repeat from * to *
around, join, ch 3 (A – 60 dc)
R: 7 - 1 dc in each dc around, join, ch 3 (N - 30, T - 40, C - 50, A - 60)
N - R: 8 –
R: 9 – Repeat R: 7 (2 rows)
T – R: 8 -
R: 10 – Repeat R: 7 (3 Rows)
C – R: 8-
R: 11 – Repeat R: 7 (4 Rows)
A – R: 8 –
R: 12 – Repeat R: 7 (5 rows)
The remainder of the Beanie is stitched the same
for all sizes (Stitch Counts - N - 30, T - 40, C - 50, A - 60)
R: 13 – Chgto C2, leave C1 attached,
ch1, 1 sc in each dc around,
Join to the 1st sc
R: 14 – Chgto C3, leave C2 attached,ch1
1 hdc in each sc around, join to 1st hdc, ch 1
R: 15 – 1 hdc in each hdc, join to 1st hdc
R: 16 – Chgto to C2, tie off C3, 1 sc in each hdc around,
join
R: 17 – Chgto to MC, tie off C2, 1 sc in each sc around,
join to 1 st sc, tie
off and weave in your ends.
Add a Pom Pom if desired.
