The Carnival Hood is a quick And easy Crochet Pattern

 that is also quite fun to stitch up. It is designed to fit

 heads from about 18 inches to 24 inches, 

because it is a comfy loose fitting hood. So if You have

 never made a hood before and want to, this is the 

crochet pattern for you.

It has three pom poms, one for the top and 

one at each point, which makes is playful and fun, 

like a carnival.

The Yarn I chose to design the hood with is the

 Premier Cotton Puzzle Yarn. 

It is soft medium weight (4) yarn.

the color I chose if called Carnival.

Crochet Hook – I / 5.5 mm.
Yarn – Medium (4) – Premier Cotton Puzzle 7 oz.
Yarn Needle
Optional - Pom Pom Maker
 
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Foundation Half Double Crochet (FHDC)
 
Size: Youth to Adult - fits 18 inch to 24 inch heads, 

comfy loose fitting hood

Hood depth is 12 inches/ 24 inches across

 
Notes:

Ch2 Counts as a hdc
Ch1 Does Not Count as a st
 
Pattern:
 
R: 1 – 40 FHDC, turn, ch1 (40 FHDC)

R: 2 – 2 hdc in the 1st FHDC, 1 hdc in the next 38 FHDC,
2 hdc in the last FHDC, turn, ch1 (42 hdc)

R: 3 - 2 hdc in the 1st hdc, 1 hdc in the next 40 hdc,
2 hdc in the last hdc, turn, ch1 (44 hdc)
 
R: 4 - 2 hdc in the 1st hdc, 1 hdc in the next 42 hdc,
2 hdc in the last hdc, turn, ch1 (46 hdc)

R: 5 - 2 hdc in the 1st hdc, 1 hdc in the next 44 hdc,
2 hdc in the last hdc, turn, ch1 (48 hdc)
 
R: 6 - 2 hdc in the 1st hdc, 1 hdc in the next 46 hdc,
2 hdc in the last hdc, turn, ch1 (50 hdc)

R: 7 - R: 23 – Repeat R: 6  increasing every row.
Tie off yarn.
(at R: 23 - 84 hdc)

These measurements are approximate - check your tension

R: 24 – Fold the Hood in half, wrong side out,

Join yarn to the top of the back of the hook.
Slst the back of the hood together.
Do not tie off yarn,
 
Trim - Flip the hood right side out.
Hdc evenly up the 1st side of the hood,

2 hdc In the point, and hdc across the front of the hood,

2hdc in the 2^nd point, and evenly hdc down the 2^nd side,
Join to the 1 hdc, tie off weave in the ends.  

 
Make 3 pom poms –
One for the top of the hood,
and one for each point of the hood.
