"Colorado became the 38th state to join the Union,
 August 1, 1876
On this day in 1876, Colorado became the 38th 
state to join the Union when President Ulysses Grant
 signed a proclamation of statehood. 

Colorado is known as the Centennial State 
because it won statehood 
the same year the United States celebrated its
 centennial. 
The name Colorado reflected the belief at the
 time that the Colorado River originated there."

On this day in 1876, Colorado became the 38th state
 to join the Union

Materials:
Crochet Hook - I /  5.50 MM
Yarn - Worsted weight/ Med (4)
            Small Amount of Yellow, Red, White, Blue
Yarn Needle

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Double crochet (dc)
Chang to (chgto)
Front Loop Only (flo)

Size: 4.5 Inches across

Notes:
Ch3 counts as a dc
When changing colors, Ch3 After the color ch
Rounds are joined to the ch3 with a slst

Pattern:

R: 1 - With yellow yarn, ch 5, join in a circle,
ch3, 11 dc in the circle, join (12 dc)

R: 2 - Chgto Red yarn, ch3, 1 dc in the same st as the ch3,
2 dc in the each of the next 9 dc,
Chgto to White yarn, 2 dc in each of the next 3dc, join
(24 dc)

R: 3 - Ch3, 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, 
*1 dc in the next dc, 2 dc in the next dc*
Repeat From * to * Around, join
(36 dc)

R: 4- Chgto Blue yarn, Ch3, 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, 
*1 dc in the next 2dc, 2 dc in the next dc*
Repeat From  * to * Around, join
(48 dc)

R: 5 - Chgto white yarn, ch1, 1 slst in the flo of each dc loosely around,
 join to 1st slst, 
tie off weave in your ends. (48 slst)

We wanted it to look cute, 
not scary.

Shark Bite Jar Cozy Crochet Pattern and Video

Skill: Easy

Materials:
Crochet Hook – I/ 5.50 MM
Yarn- Worsted Weight (4) about 2 oz, total grey
             Small Amount of White, red and Black
Yarn Needle
Jar – 16 oz. Canning Jar

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Change To (chgto)
Front Post Only (FLO)
Back Loop Only BLO)
Skip (sk)
Stitch (st)

Size: fits a 16 oz. Canning jar (6 inches tall)

Notes:
Rounds are joined with a Slip Stitch
Ch 3 Counts as a Double crochet
Ch1 Does not Count as a st

Pattern:

R: 1 – With Grey yarn, Ch5, join in a circle. Ch3, 
12 dc in the circle, join, Ch 3. (12 dc)


R: 2 –Dc in the same st as the ch3, 
2 dc in each dc around, join, Ch1. (24dc)

R: 3 – 1 Sc in each dc around, join, ch 3. (24sc)

R: 4 –  1 dc in each sc around, join. (24dc)

R: 5 – Ch 3, 1 dc in each dc around, join. (24dc)

R: 6 – R: 8 – Repeat R: 5

R: 9 – Ch1, *1 sc in the 1st 2 dc, 1 hdc in the next 2 dc, 1 dc in the next 4 dc,
1 hdc in the Next2 dc, 1 sc in the next 2 dc*
Repeat From * to * 1 more times, join to the 1st sc.
(2sc, 2hdc, 4dc, 2hdc, 2 sc X 2 = 24 sts)

R: 10 – Repeat R: 9

R: 11 – Chgto red yarn, FLO, ch1, slst in each st around, join to 1st slst,
(24 slst)

R: 12 – Chgto White yarn, BLO, ch1
*slst in the next st, ch 2, sk the next st, slst in the next st*
Repeat From * to * around, join and tie off.
Weave in all your ends.

Eyes:
Thread a 12 inch piece of black yarn on the needle and sew
on the eyes using straight stitches, as shown in picture.
Make sure you stitch through a st, not hole.


Shark Fin:
R: 13 – Ch 3, 3 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, ch1, Turn (3sc)

R: 14 – 2 sc in the 1st sc, 1 sc in the next 2 sc, ch1, turn (4 sc)

R: 15 – 1 sc in the next 3 sc, 2 sc in the last sc, (5 sc)

Sc Evenly on all up the side of the Fin, place 2 sc in the top point of the fin,
Sc down the other side of the fin, then across the bottom of the fin,
join to 1st sc, tie off leaving a 12 inch tail of yarn.

Place fin on Shark Cozy, line up with the point of the shark nose to center,
and place between R :4  and R 7,as shown in picture, and sew in place
with needle and tail of yarn, using whip stitches on both sides of the fin.
Handle - Ch 60, starting and leaving a 10 inch tail, to sew it to the Shark .
Stitch to the inside of the bag at each nose point. Sew Securely.
