Skill: Easy

 

Materials:

Crochet Hook – I/ 5.50 MM

Yarn - Med WW (4) 1 oz. of 3 different colors (C1, C2, C3) (total 3 oz.)

           Small Amount of White For the eyes

Yarn Needle

 

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Slip Stitch (slst)

Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC)

Back Loop Only (blo)

Foundation Double crochet (FDC)

Change to (chgto)

Double Crochet Together (Dc Decrease) Dctog

 

Size: Youth to Adult - 20 -22 inches

3 FDC = 1 inch

 

Notes:

Ch 3 Counts as a dc

Rounds are joined to the ch 3 with a slst

Ch3/ Ch1 after The color change when changing Colors

 

Hat Pattern-

 

R: 1 – With C1, FDC 60, join in a circle, ch 3 (60 FDC)

 

 

R: 2 – Chgto C2, *FPDC in the next st, dc in the next st*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ch 3 (30 fpdc, 30 dc)

 

R: 3 – Chgto C3, Repeat R: 2

 

 

R: 4 – Chgto C1, BLO, 1 dc in each dc, join, ch 3 (60 dc)

 

 

R: 5 – 1 dc in each dc, join, ch 3 (60 dc)

 

R: 6 – Repeat R: 5

 

R: 7 – R: 9 – Chgto C2, Repeat R: 5

 

R: 10 - R: 13 – Chgto C3, Repeat R: 5

 

R: 14 - *Dctog the next 2 dc, 1 dc in the next dc*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ch 3

 

R: 15 - Repeat R: 14

 join, Tie off leaving an 18 inch tail of yarn.

 

Turn hat wrong side out, thread yarn tail onto needle and gather the

 hat opening closed, weave in securely.

 

Antenna –

With 2 strands of yarn, ch 12,

*dc in the 2^nd ch from the hook,1 slst in the next 11 chs,

Ch12, Repeat From * to *, tie off.

 Attach to the center top of the hat.

 

Eyes – Make 2 –

 

R: 1 – Ch4, 8 dc in the 4^th ch from the hook, join, (9dc)

 

R: 2 – Chgto White yarn, 2 dc in each dc around, join, (18dc)

 

R: 3 – Chgto to Color of choice, ch1,

*1 sc in the next dc, 2 sc in the next dc*

Repeat From * to * around, join, tie off leaving an 18 inch tail of yarn.

 

Sew onto front of hat with needle and tail of yarn.

 

Mouth –

 

Ch13, sc in the 2^nd ch from the hook, 3 sc in the next ch, 1 dc in the next 5 chs,

Sk the next 2 chs, 1 sc in the last 2 chs, tie off leaving an 18 inch tail of yarn.

 Sew onto the front of the hat using the needle and tail of yarn.
