The Chevron or Ripple Stitch Crochet Pattern is a stitch

 pattern that many people find difficult, but once you

 get the hang of it, it's super easy.

It can be worked in many different ways and and styles.

 You can stitch up any thing from headbands to blankets.

It was one of the first stitch patterns I learned from my 

mother In law when my daughter was a newborn.

She made it look so easy, showed me her technique,

and so I have passed on her 

style in these six Chevron Crochet Patterns.

Does Ch1 Count as a stitch

Most of the time the ch1 does not count as a stitch,

 but there are times that it will. Always do what the 

directions on the Crochet Pattern tell you to do or

 you will get the stitch count off.

 What's A Turning Chain

When stitching in Rows, the Ch1 usually does

 not count as a st. It's called a turning ch, 

it's an extra chain so your project lays smoothly.

Crochet Pattern

The Ladies Tote Bag was one of the first Bag Crochet

 Pattern designs I actually wrote up. It was originally made 

out of Red Heart Super Saver yarn and  Scrap yarns.

But I really love the striping yarns for this bag.

It is the perfect bag for shopping, and produce at the

 Farmer's Market. It also makes a great book bag, Ipad bag, 

project bag, tote bag, and overnight bag.

 and just about any any med (4) weight yarns.

Whatever fiber is your preference, it will work.

I like to make them in cotton yarn for produce and shopping.

Lady's Shopping Bag Crochet Pattern

INTRO VIDEO - LINK

Skill: Easy

Materials:
Hook: I/ 5.500MM
Yarn: Med (4) Cotton or Acrylic – 5 oz. / 245 yards

            I used Sweet Roll By Premier Yarns For the Demos.
Yarn Needle
 
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Shell Stitch (shst) 3 dc in the same st

Size: 10 X 13 Inches/ 26 Inches around

 (not including the handles)

Notes: Ch3 Counts as a Double Crochet.
Add more Rows of Sc if you would like thicker handles.

Pattern:  

 

Step 1- Starting At The Base Of The Bag

Step 1 - VIDEO LINK

 

R: 1 - With C1, ch 35

*2 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in each ch across, 

2 sc in the last ch, Working  down the opposite side of the ch,

 repeat from *, join, ch 1 (72 sc)

 

R: 2 - 1 sc in each sc around, join, ch1 (72 sc)

R: 3 -1 sc in each sc around, join, ch1 (72 sc)

 

R: 4 - 1 sc in each sc, join, ch 3 (72 sc)

Repeat R: 4 if a thicker bag base is desired. 

 

 

Step 2 - Body of The Bag

R: 5 -  2 dc in the same st as the ch3, *skip next 2 sts, 

3 dc in the next st*, repeat from *to* around, 

sk last 3 sts, join, ch 3 (24 shells)

 

R: 6 - Sl st in the next dc, 

slst to the next sp between the 1^st and 2^nd shst,

ch 3, 2 dc in first space between shell stitches, 

3 dc in each space between the shell stitches around, join. (24 shells)

R: 7 -Sl st in the next dc, 

slst to the next sp between the 1^st and 2^nd shst,

ch 3, 2 dc in first space between shell stitches, 

3 dc in each space between the shell stitches around, join. 

Ch3 (24 shells)

 

R: 8 - 1 dc in each st, around, join, ch 3 (72 dc)

 

R: 9 – R: 10 - Repeat R: 8

R: 11 - Repeat R: 5

 

R: 12 -13 - Repeat R: 6 - R: 7

 

R: 14 - 16 - Repeat R: 8 - Do not ch3 after R: 16

Continue to Repeat R: 5 - R: 10 if a taller bag is wanted.

Step 3 - The Bag Handles

R: 17 - 1 sc in the 3 slsts, 1 sc in each dc around, join to the 1st sc, ch 1 (72 sc)

R: 18 - R: 20,  1 sc in each dc around, join, ch1 (72 dc)
 

R: 21 - With C1, Forming the handle, 11 sc, ch 20 skip next 14 sts,
 join in the next st with a sc, 21 sc, ch 20, skip 14 sts, 11 sc, join, ch1 
 

(Check to make sure handles are spaced evenly).
 
R: 22 - 1 sc in each sc and ch around, join ch 1 (84sc)
 
R: 23 - 1 sc in each sc, join, tie off, weave in your ends.

Repeat R: 23 if a thicker handle is wanted.

The Whimsical Cape Shawl is a wonderful gift for

 Mother's Day, or Any day.

The design is a open style with just enough thickness 

to add a little warmth without being to heavy.

 A perfect addition to a morning, and evening outfit, 

or when there is a slight chill in the air.

It's a Cape, A Shawl, and a Poncho all in one.

This Crochet Pattern works up quickly because I designed

 it using A bulky (5) yarn and a 9.00 mm Crochet Hook.

We have Updated The Crochet Pattern to Include

 Sizes XS - 3 X. 

Need a last minute gift, this will work up in an evening.

But once you make it, you will want to keep it for yourself.

So you better make two.

Crochet Hook: N-9.00MM
Yarn: Bulky yarn (5) 8.5 -12.5 oz. / (3.5 oz = 109 yards)
           I used Toy Box yarn/ Premier/ Lincoln Logs
           The amount of yarn used depends on which size you make.
            (S and M – 2 skeins, L 2.5 skeins, XL 3 skeins)
 
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Double Crochet (dc)
Foundation Double Crochet (FDC)
Skip (sk)
Space (sp)
 
Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2 X, 3X
Neck measurement – 30(32,34, 36, 38, 40, 42) inches
Pattern written in X Small with (Medium, Large, Xl, 2X, 3X) in parenthesis.
Each row is approximately = 1.5 inches
 
Notes: 

Ch1 Does ot Count as a st.

Ch3 counts as the 1^st Dc on the next row.

R: 1 - FDC 60 (63, 66, 69, 72, 75, 78), Turn, ch 3

If you want your Cape shawl longer, repeat R: 4 for as many rows as you like.

Sew Buttons to top left side.
No buttonholes are needed, as the space between
 the 1^st 2 dc are perfect for the buttonholes.
