Dog Backpack  2 Sizes - Small and Medium

Re-Release Free Crochet Pattern

This was  previously a paid crochet pattern

and I have decided to re-release

 it as a free pattern here on my Blog.

This is a super easy pattern 

and works up really fast.

You will be ready in no time to

 take that walk, or go to the park.
And your pooch can carry his own stuff.

Skill: Easy

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Half double Crochet  (hdc)

Materials:

Hook: H

Yarn needle

2  Buttons – ¾ inch

Yarn: I used Worsted weight Yarns (4) 3.5 oz. - colors your choice

Size: Small 5 x7inches 2-7 lbs,
Medium 8x10 inches 8-15 lbs

(Maximo, the model in the picture weighs 6 lbs)

Notes: Pattern is written for Small with Medium in parenthesis

Ch1 at ends of rows does not count as a stitch.

Body of the bag -  Row 1: Ch 19,(27) 1 hdc in 2^nd ch from the hook,

and in each ch, ch 1 turn. (18, 26 hdc)

R : 2 – 1 hdc in each hdc, ch1, turn (18,26 hdc)

R : 3 – R : 38  - Repeat R : 1, tie off.

 Side Panels:  Make 2  -

R : 1 - ch 6, 1 hdc in 2^nd ch from hook, and in each ch, ch1 turn. (5hdc)

R : 2 – 1 hdc in each hdc, ch1, turn (5hdc)

R :  3 - R : 10(16) : Repeat row 1, tie off.

Sewing on the side panels:  Lay bag open flat,
count down 8 rows from the top,

 that will be the part that fold over for the flap.
Place side panels in place, 

by folding up the bottom of the bag, And Sew in place,
 using the same color yarn

 as the bag, to hide stitches.

Trim: With another color, join yarn at the
 right inside corner of the bag,  

sc around the top of the bag, and around
 the flap of the bag.

Drawstring: ch 60(90) and tie off. draw string
 is then fed through around

 the top of the bag and tied in front.

Straps: Make 2 -
Ch 50(90) hdc in each ch and tie off. Crossing the straps

 in the back, sew on at the four corners of the backpack.
Place buttons and sew on.

Your Dog can carry his own,

 toy, poop bags, water and snacks!

Maximo has his backpack packed and

 is already to go to the park!
