I had so much fun Designing this Slouchy hat.

 I was inspired by the hat that Jovie wore in the movie Elf.

She wore a similar hat when she was singing to bring

 Christmas cheer so Santa Could Fly his sleigh.

Jovie is short for Jovial which means cheerful and Friendly.

I Hope the Jovie Slouchy Hat brings everyone some 

Christmas Cheer! 

The Hat seems a little Complicated, 

but it is really quite easy, and fun.

Materials:
Crochet Hook - H / 5.00 mm
Yarn – Med (4) 5 oz. Bernat Pop / Foggy Notion
Yarn Needle
 
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Back Loop Only (blo)
Skip (sp)
Double Crochet together (dctog)
       also called Double Crochet decrease (dec)

Cross Stitch (crst) explained in he Pattern
 
Size: Fits Youth to Adult (22 -24 inches)
Band is very stretchy
 
Notes:
Ch1 Does Not Count as a st
Ch3 Counts as a dc
 
Pattern;
R: 1 – Starting at the Hat band –
Ch 10, 1 hdc in the 2^nd ch from the hook, and in each ch across, turn, ch 1 (9hdc)
 

R: 2 – BLO, 1 hdc in each hdc, turn, ch 1 (9 hdc)
 

R: 3 – Repeat R: 2
 

R; 4 – R: 48 – Repeat R: 2
Join ends together, slst them to form a circle for the hat band, ch3
(48 Rows)
 

R: 49 – Evenly dc 67 dc around the top of the hat band, join, ch 3 (68dc)
 

R: 50 – 1 dc in the next 7 dc,
*sk the next dc, 1 dc in the next 2 dc, cross in front and dc in the sk st*
Repeat From * to * 5 more times,
1 dc in the next 16 dc,
Repeat From * to * 6 more times,
1 dc in the last 8 dc, join, ch 3
(8dc, 6 Crsts, 16 dc, 6 Crsts, 8 dc)
 

R: 51 -1 dc in the next 7 dc,
*sk the next dc, 1 dc in the next 2 dc, cross in front and dc in the sk st*
Repeat From * to * 5 more times,
1 dc in the next 16 dc,

*sk the next dc, 1 dc in the next 2 dc, cross in front and dc in the sk st*

1 dc in the next 10 dc,
Repeat From * to * 6 more times,
1 dc in the last 5 dc, join, ch 3
(5dc, 6 Crsts, 10 dc, 6 Crsts, 5 dc)
 

R: 61 – 1 dc in each st around, join,  tie off leaving a 20 inch tail of yarn.
 Using the tail of yarn and a yarn needle, gather the end of the slouch closed,
Weave in securely.
 

Add More Rows Here, if a longer slouchy is desired.

Make a Big Floppy pompom - You can use a pom pom maker
or use the method I use on the video.
 
Attach the pom pom to the end of the Slouchy
