Striped Shell Stitch Washcloth

Washcloth 3 – Washcloth of the Month

Skill: Easy

Materials:

Crochet hook – H / 5.00 MM

Yarn – Med (4) Cotton) 2 Colors ( C1, C2) About 3 to 3.5 oz. total

Yarn Needle

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Change to (chgto)

Skip (sk)

Space (sp)

Stitch (st)

Special Stitch: Shell Stitch (shst) -  3 dc I the same st

Size: 10 X 10

Multiple – 6 + 4

Notes:

Ch1 Does not count as a st

Ch 3 Counts as a dc

Change colors every 4 rows

When changing color, ch1/ ch3 after the color change

Pattern:

R: 1- With C1, Ch 46, 

1 dc in the 4^th ch from the hook,

*Sk2 chs, sc in the next ch, sk 2 chs, 1 shst in the next ch*

Repeat From * to * 5 more times,

Sk the 2 chs, 2 dc in the last ch, ch 1, turn

(4 dc, 6 shsts, 7 sc)

R: 2 – 1 sc in the 1^st dc, *shst in the next sc, sc in the 2^nd dc of the next shst*

Repeat From * to * 5 more times,sc in the next shst, shst in the next sc,

1 sc in the last dc, ch 3, turn

(4 dc, 7 shsts, 8sc)

R: 3 - 1 dc in the 1^st st, * sc in the 2^nd dc of the next shell st, shst in the next sc*

Repeat from * to * 5 more times, sc in the next shst, 2 dc in the last st, ch1, turn

(4 dc, 6 shsts, 7 sc)

R: 4 – With  Repeat R: 2

R: 5 – Chgto C2, Repeat R: 3

R: 6 – Repeat R: 4

R: 7 – Repeat R: 3

R: 8 - Repeat R: 4

 R: 9 – R: 12 - Chgto C1, Repeat R: 5 - R: 8

R: 13- R: 16 - Chgto C2, Repeat R: 5 - R: 8

R: 17 - R: 20 - Chgto C1, Repeat R: 5 - R: 8

Trim:

Ch1, turn after R: 20

1 sc in each dc and sc across top of washcloth, 2 sc in the corner st,

Evenly Sc on the 3 other sides, 2 sc in each corner,

join to the 1 st sc, tie off, weave in your ends.

The Shell Stitch

Skill: Easy

Materials:

Crochet Hook – H/ 5.00 MM

Yarn- Worsted Weight (4) Colors of your choice

Yarn Needle

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Skip (sk)

Space (sp)

Special Stitch - Shell Stitch (shst) - 3 dc in the same st

Size: 25 X 25 inches - Completed Blanket
3 chs = 1 inch

Repeat for adjustment (3chs + 1 ch)

Remember if you added width to your blanket, 

              you will need to adjust the pattern to fit.
You may need to add more or less dc at the beginning and end of R: 1

Notes:

Ch 3 counts as a dc.

When changing colors at the end of a row, Ch3 AFTER the Color change.

For R: 1 - R: 14 - (Stitches 1-4) Click this LINK

R: 15 - 1 dc in each st across across, turn (74dc)

R: 16 - Ch3, 1 dc in the next 3 sts, 

*sk the next 2 sts, shst in the next st*

Repeat From * to * across row,

1 dc in the last 4 sts, turn.

R: 17 - R: 18 - Repeat R: 16
