Crocodile Stitch Dog Collar Crochet Pattern

I Love the look of the Crocodile Stitch
and wanted to incorporate it into a simple, yet
fun crochet pattern. So I started with a dog collar...
I definitely have more ideas in mind!
I have been working on this
pattern for a few days,
and really wanted to make it
easy to understand.
Please, Add This Crochet pattern to Your
Ravelry Favorites

Skill : Easy

Materials:

Hook : H
Yarn- Any Worsted Weight yarn
Tape measure

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Double Crochet (dc)
V Stitch ( vst)
Crocodile Stitch ( croc st)

Getting Started:
I will try my best to explain the Croc st. in easy to follow terms,
but if you need more help here is a link with pics
Crocodile Stitch Dog Bandanna photo Tutorial

The first thing you need to do is measure your dog's neck in inches,
according to the pic:
For a 12 inch neck ch 37, add or subtract 3 chs per inch to
adjust to your dog's neck size, also, you need a odd
number of chains for the pattern to work properly.

R : 1 - 1 sc in the second ch from the hook, 1 sc in each ch, ch 1, turn

R : 2 - (V- St Row)-- 1 dc in the 1st st, * skip the next 2 sts,
(1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in the next st, repeat from * across row,
1 dc in the last st. turn

R : 3 - (Croc St Row) - 1 dc in the 1st dc, *turn work sideways and
st 4 dc around the 1st post of the dc of the 1st v st,
then turn work the opposite way and st 4 dc around
the post of the other dc in this v st. That is the first crocodile scale,
1 sc in the next v st, turn

Repeat From * across row, 1 dc in the dc at the end of row.

Again, if you don't understand how to do the croc st,
check out the link I listed above.

R : 4 - Ch 3, and Repeat R : 2

R : 5 - Ch 3, and repeat R : 3

R : 6 - Ch 3, 2 sc in the 1 v st, 2 sc in the center of the 1st croc st,
 * 2 sc in the next v st, 2 sc in the next croc st, repeat from * across row,
ch 7, ( the amount of chs here will depend on your dog' neck measurement)
join to opposite side of the collar with a sc, to form a circle, turn, ch 1,

R : 7 - 1 sc in each sc around collar, join and tie off

This is a Great project to help you learn the Crocodile Stitch.

Happy Stitching!

Crochet IPad Cover

I got a Ipad 2 and I love it.
I bought a nice leather cover for It, but I wanted a bag with a pocket to carry it in, to take with me.
I found this one Here on the Red heart yarn site.  It wasn't exactly what I wanted.....So I tweaked it up
some.

I made it a little big bigger to accommodate the leather cover,
I added handles and made the pocket square.

I ch 31, and followed the pattern for the cover,
but instead of making 2 pieces,
I stitched for 35 rows and folded it over, sc up the sides.

To make the handles:
R : 36 - Attach the yard of your choice, I choose a solid, to the top right
side of the bag opening, 1 hdc in each st around the bag opening, join and ch 2

R : 37&38 - 1 hdc in each st, join, ch 2

R : 39- 1 hdc in the 1st 8 sts, ch 20 ( or more if you want a longer handle),
join to the top of the bag with hdc, in the 8th st from the left side, hdc in
the next 15 sts, ch 20, joining again in the 8th st from the end, checking to
make sure the handles are centered on the bag, join, ch 2

R : 40- 1 hdc in each st and in each ch, join ch 2

R : 41&42 - 1 sc in each Hdc, join, Ch 2

R : 43- 1 hdc in each st, join and tie off

Pocket- Ch 21
R : 1 - Repeat R-1 from the bag Pattern
R : 2 - Repeat R : 2 from the bag Pattern
R : 3-13 Repeat R 2 from bag pattern
R : 14 -1 sc in each st, 3 sc in the last st, sc evenly around the remaining 3
sides of the pocket, with 3 sc in each corner, join , and tie off.

Place pocket centered on the front of the Ipad bag and  sew in place
 with matching yarn.

I really like it how it turned out!
