Can I Iron A Patch on A Crochet Projects?
I do not recommend ironing on a Patch to any crochet project
made of  Acrylic yarn. Now having said that,
I do know people who do this.
The issue is not the patch, but the yarn.
Acrylic yarn can burn very easily, and it can ruin your
project in a matter of seconds.
I would imagine that if you are using a Cotton yarn
 it would be fine.
I talked with a few of my Crochet Peeps and they said,
they suggest hand sewing the patch on with clear thread or
thread to match the trim of the patch.
I have never done this my self, but it sounds like a great solution.
The clear thread is not visible and it's a sturdy thread.
