Granny Square Christmas
The Christmas Tree Ornament is a super fun And
easy project. It is basically a granny square we
fold into a triangle. The size of the tree
is determined by the Size of The Square you
stitch up. The Bigger the square
the bigger the Christmas Tree.
I made mine 5 x 7 Inches. The perfect size for an
ornament, or display decoration, like a
bunting or centerpiece.
Gather up beads, buttons, gems, flatbacks,
ribbons and bows, and don't forget stars.
You can even add some fun eyes and a face.
I used a popsicle stick for the tree trunk.
Some other options are cinnamon sticks,
small sticks from your yard, or crochet a stem.
It's a great yarn stash busting project because any
medium (4) weight yarn will work. Mix and match
your colors for fun variations, like Sparkle,
Ombre, or use traditional yarn colors.
I made mine is 4 different styles and colors.
It is such a fun project.
Decorate the Tree, put them in a basket on the table,
or make a bunting for the door way or mantle.

Use them as place markers. Let your
Holiday guests take one home. So many fun
ways to decorate with them also.
How about a decorating party. Stitch up a bunch
of trees from your yarn stash. Everyone chose one
and decorate it. How fun is that!

Materials:
Crochet Hook - H / 5 mm.
Yarn - Med (4) Acrylic Yarn 1 oz.- Any Acrylic yarn, And color / colors
Wooden popsicle stick - or other choice for stem
Star Button Flatback
Ribbon - Thin, for hanger
Assorted embellishment - beads, buttons, ribbon, etc.
Yarn needle
Hot Glue Gun and Glue or glue of choice
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slipstitch (slst)
Double Crochet (dc)
Space (sp)
Size: 5 X 7 with stem, not counting the hanger
Notes: ch3 Counts as a dc
Color changes are not indicated in the pattern.
Choose what ever colors you like.
Pattern: We are making a 4 inch basic Granny Square
R: 1 - Ch 5, form into a circle,
ch3, 2 dc, ch 2 in the circle, * 3dc, ch2*
Repeat From * to * 2 more times,
Join to ch 3, slst to the next ch2 sp
(4 sets of 3dc, ch2)
(4 sets of 3dc, ch2)
R: 2 - Ch3, 2 dc, ch2,
3dc in the 1st ch2 sp, ch2 (1st corner)
*3dc, ch2, 3dc in the next ch 2 sp*
Repeat From * to * 2 more times,
Join to ch 3, slst to the next ch2 sp
(4 sets of 3dc, ch2, 3dc)
(4 sets of 3dc, ch2, 3dc)
R: 3 - Ch3, 2 dc, ch2 in the 1st ch2 sp, ch2

Join to ch 3, Do Not Tie off
(4 sets of 3dc, ch2, 3dc, and 3dc, ch2)
Fold the Square as shown in the pic.
*Slst, ch1, sk 1* the sides together to form the top of the Christmas Tree.
Stitching in the inside loops.
Lay it Flat, and fold up the bottom of the Square,
Tuck it in the bottom of the tree.
Stitch a few stitches to hold it in place.
Let's Decorate Our little Christmas Tree Ornament.
Add star, Some "ornaments" or leave it plain.
Break one of the popsicle sticks in half,
Dab a little hot glue and push it in the bottom middle of the tree.
Add a little bow to the tree were the stem is.
For The Hanger
Cut a long piece of ribbon and slide it through the top of the Tree,
add some beads if desired, tie a knot to hold it together.
Now it's ready to decorate for the Holidays.
