St. Patrick's Day Dog Collar

St. Patrick's Day Dog Collar

This pattern was originally
designed to be used for a
fund raiser for a
Chihuahua Rescue.

I decided to update the pattern
and release it,
for everyone to use.

It can be made with a Bow tie or Shamrock.

Skill: Easy

Materials :
Hook: H
Worsted Weight yarn -- Green and White
Fun Fur - Green and White
1 Gem - for each collar
Fabric Glue or Hot glue and gun

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch ( sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
V Stitch ( V st)

Getting Started:
The first thing you need to do is measure your dog's neck loosely.

Collar :
R : 1 - With yarn of choice, ch 7, 1 dc  in the 2nd ch from the hook,
1 dc in the next 5 chs, turn.

R : 2 - ch 3, skip the next st, 2 dc in the next st, skip the next st,
2 dc in the next st, skip the next st, 1 dc in the last st, turn.

R : 3 - Ch 3, 2 dc in the sp between the 1st 2 dc,
2 dc in the space between the 2nd 2 dc, 1 dc in the last dc.
 ( ch 3, 2 V sts, 1 dc).

R : 4 - R : 20   -  Repeat R : 3

You will repeat R : 3 until collar is the desired length and
 fits around your dog's neck.

R : 21 - Place the two ends together and sl st the ends closed,
work in ends and tie off.

Trim:
Attach eyelash yarn to top edge of the collar,
1 sc in each row around the top, eye lash yarn is not very stretchy,
so sc loosely. tie off, weave in the ends.

Repeat this around the bottom edge of the collar as well.

Shamrock -
Ch 5, in the 3rd ch from the hook - ( 3 dc, ch2 sl st)
to form the first petal, (*ch2, 3 dc, ch2, sl st) to form the 2nd petal,
repeat 2 more times to make 4 petals, ch 4, turn and sl st back
up ch to form a stem, join and tie off.

I used hot glue to attach the gem, you can also use fabric glue,
 it takes longer to dry.

Sew on Front of Collar with matching yarn.

Bow tie :
R : 1 - Ch 13, with choice of yarn, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook,
1 sc in the next 11 chs, ch1 turn.

R 2 -6 - 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn

R : 7 -1 sc in each sc, tie off, weave in ends.

Cut a 12 inch piece of contrasting yarn and wind it around the
center of the bow tie several times and tie in the back.

Sew on front of Collar with matching yarn
