Bunny Hugs Hooded Baby Blanket

I am very excited to release this Crochet Pattern and Video.

Red Heart Yarn sent me this amazing baby yarn, 
and it's been tested for harmful substances,
 so its safe for babies and children.
It's called Bunches Of Hugs.  It's a Worsted weight (4) yarn.
 It's very soft, and durable at the same time.
It has many wonderful colors to choose from.
Both solids and Variegated.

Also, My neighbor is having a baby.  It's a Win, Win.

 I got to design this cute baby blanket and give it to my neighbor!

Here is a close up of the Stitch Pattern.

 Can you see why I called it "Bunny Hugs"?
Although this Stitch pattern looks complicated, It is not.

The Blanket is a little larger then the average baby blanket, 
so they will be able to use it for well into their toddler years.
Works great for Boys and Girls, as well as neutral colors.

Bunny Hugs Hooded Baby Blanket Crochet Pattern

Skill: Intermediate

Materials:

Crochet Hook - I / 5.50MM

Yarn - Worsted Weight (4) 20 oz (10 oz of 2 colors of your choice)

             I used Red Heart Bunches of Hugs, Dragon - C1 and Capri – C2

Yarn Needle

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Triple Crochet (tr)

Skip (sp)

Space (sp)

Stitch/ Stitches (st/sts)

Change to (chgto)

Size: 40 x 40 inches, plus the hood (Fits a newborn to toddler)

         Repeat is 5 chs + 2 chs

       

Notes:

Ch3 counts as a dc.

Ch1 does not count as a sc.

When changing colors ch1 after the color change.
Do not cute your yarn, let the yarn trail up the said.

Blanket Pattern:

R: 1 – With C1, Ch 125, dc in the 4^th ch from the hook, 1 dc in each ch across,

Turn, ch3, (123dc)

 R: 2 - 1 dc in the next 2 dcs, ch 2, sk 2 dcs,

*1 dc in the next 3 dc, ch2, sk 2 dcs*

Repeat From * to * across row, 1 dc in the last 3 dc, turn, ch1. (123 sts)

R: 3 – 1 sc in the 1^st 3 sts,

*1 tr stitching in the 2 skipped sts from previous Row, 1 sc in the next 3 sts*

Repeat From * to * across Row, Turn, ch 3 (123 sts)

R: 4 – 1 dc in the 1^st 2 sts, ch2, sk 2 sts,

*1 dc in the next 3 dc, ch2, sk 2 sts*

Repeat From * to * across row, 1 dc in the last 3 dc, turn, ch1 (123 sts)

R: 5 – 1 sc in the 1^st 3 sts,

*1 tr stitching in the 2 skipped sts from previous Row, 1 sc in the next 3 sts*

Repeat From * to * across Row, Turn. (123 sts)

R: 6 – Chgto C2, Ch 3, 1 dc in the 1^st 2 sts, ch2, sk 2 sts,

*1 dc in the next 3 dc, ch2, sk 2 sts*

Repeat From * to * across row, 1 dc in the last 3 dc, turn, Ch1 (123 sts)

R: 7 - 1 sc in the 1^st 3 sts,

*1 tr stitching in the 2 skipped sts from previous Row, 1 sc in the next 3 sts*

Repeat From * to * across Row, Turn, Ch3 (123 sts)

R: 8 – 1 dc in the 1^st 2 sts, ch2, sk 2 sts,

*1 dc in the next 3 dc, ch2, sk 2 chs*

Repeat From * to * across row, 1 dc in the last 3 dc, turn, ch 1 (123 sts)

R: 9 - 1 sc in the 1^st 3 sts,

*1 tr stitching in the 2 skipped sts from previous Row, 1 sc in the next 3 sts*

Repeat From * to * across Row, Turn, ch3 (123 sts)

R: 10 – R: 73 - Repeat R: 2 – R: 9, 8 times

R: 74 - R: 77 – With C1, Repeat R: 2 – R: 5, 1 time, tie off weave in your end.

If you are not adding the hood skip to the “Trim”

Hood Pattern:

HR: 1 – With C1, Ch 45, dc in the 4^th ch from the hook,

1 dc in each ch across, turn, ch 3

HR: 2 - 1 dc in the next 2 chs, ch 2, sk 2 chs,

*1 dc in the next 3 dc, ch2, sk 2 chs*

Repeat From * to * across row, 1 dc in the last 3 dc, turn, ch1. (43 sts)

HR: 3 – 1 sc in the 1^st 3 sts,

*1 tr stitching in the 2 skipped sts from previous Row, 1 sc in the next 3 sts*

Repeat From * to * across Row, Turn, ch 3 (43 sts)

HR: 4 – 1 dc in the 1^st 2 sts, ch2, sk 2 sts,

*1 dc in the next 3 dc, ch2, sk 2 chs*

Repeat From * to * across row, 1 dc in the last 3 dc, turn, ch1 (43 sts)

HR: 5 – 1 sc in the 1^st 3 sts,

*1 tr stitching in the 2 skipped sts from previous Row, 1 sc in the next 3 sts*

Repeat From * to * across Row, Turn. (43 sts)

HR: 6 – Chgto C2, Ch3, 1 dc in the 1^st 2 sts, ch2, sk 2 sts,

*1 dc in the next 3 dc, ch2, sk 2 chs*

Repeat From * to * across row, 1 dc in the last 3 dc, turn, ch1 (43 sts)

HR: 7 - 1 sc in the 1^st 3 sts,

*1 tr stitching in the 2 skipped sts from previous Row, 1 sc in the next 3 sts*

Repeat From * to * across Row, Turn, ch3 (43 sts)

HR: 8 – 1 dc in the 1^st 2 sts, ch2, sk 2 sts,

*1 dc in the next 3 dc, ch2, sk 2 chs*

Repeat From * to * across row, 1 dc in the last 3 dc, turn, ch1(43 sts)

HR: 9 - 1 sc in the 1^st 3 sts,

*1 tr stitching in the 2 skipped sts from previous Row, 1 sc in the next 3 sts*

Repeat From * to * across Row, Turn. (43 sts)

HR: 10 – HR: 17 – Repeat HR: 2 – HR: 9, 2 times, tie off, Weave in Your end.

Fold Hood in half, with wrong side out, sc the back of the hood

 Closed with matching yarn. Tie off weave in your ends.

Place Hood Opened in the center of the blanket, With Stripes going sideways,

as shown in the picture. Sc the hood onto the blanket with matching yarn,

tie off, weave in your ends.

 Trim:

Without The Hood:

Dc evenly across the 3 remaining sides of the hood, stitching 3 dc in each corner,

Join to the 1^st dc with a slst, tie off, weave in your ends.

With The Hood:

Attach yarn of choice to the top right corner of the blanket,

Dc evenly across blanket until you reach the hood,

Dc around the hood placing one dc in each st,

Dc evenly across the  right side of the blanket to the corner,

St 3 dc in the corner,

Dc evenly across the 3 remaining sides of the hood, stitching 3 dc in each corner,

Join to the 1^st dc with a slst, tie off, weave in your ends.

Remember: if you are giving this Blanket as a gift, 

to include the yarn wrapper in the gift wrapping. 

This way they will know how to wash it.
