And makes a great Patritic decoration.

Ch1  after the color change, when changing colors.
leave yarn attached, when changing colors.

R : 7- R: 30  - Continue to repeat R : 3 - R: 4
alternating between red and white stripes
for a total of 15 stripes (8 red, 7 white)

Put the ends together,  wrong side out,
so the stripes are going up and down, and sl st the ends.

Place the Blue hat top on top, and sew them together,
Or slip st them together, around the top,
then flip to the right side. Weave in the ends.

Step 3 - Hat Band

R :1 - Join blue yarn to hat bottom, any where,
with a sl st, hdc around the bottom edge of the hat,
putting 1 hdc in each row around, join , ch 2

R : 2 - 1 hdc in each hdc, join

Step 4 - Hat Brim

R : 3 - Change to red yarn, ch 3, 1 dc in 1st st,
*2 dc in the next st,  1 dc in the next st*, Repeat
from * to * around hat brim, join to 1sy ch 3 with a slst,
tie off, weaving in the ends.
