Yarn
– Med (4) 3.5 oz. Acrylic
(MC- Main Color 2.50 oz., and SC - Assort colors of Scrap yarn 1 0z.)
Decorative
Button - 1 inch
Yarn

Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double
Crochet (dc)
Back
Loop Only (blo)
Double
Crochet Together (dctog)
Size:
Youth
to Adult – 22 inches
2 HDC Rows = 1 Inch (hatband)
Notes:
Ch3
Counts as dc.
Ch1
does not count as a sc.
When
Changing Colors, Ch3 After The color Change,
leaving the MC Attached
Pattern:
R:
1 - Starting with the Hatband
– MC
Ch
7, 1 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook,
And
in each ch across, ch1, turn (6hdc)
R:
2- Working in the Blo, 1 hdc in each hdc, ch1, turn (6hdc)
R:
3 – R: 43 - Repeat R: 2
R:
44- Place the 2 ends together and sc closed to form the hatband.
Do
not
tie off.
R:
45 – Sc evenly around the top of the hatband,
(44
sc)
R:
46- Ch to color of Choice, leaving the MC attached,
Ch3, 1 dc in each sc Around, join. (44dc)
R:
47- Chgto MC, 1 sc in each dc around, join. (44sc)
R:
47 – R: 54 – Repeat R: 46 and R: 47 Alternating Every other Row,
And
Changing Colors Every other Row.
R:
55 – With MC, 1 dc in each sc around, join, ch 3 (44 dc)
R:
56 – With MC, 1 dc in the next dc,
*
dctog the next 2 dc, 1 dc in the next 2 dc*
Repeat
From * to * Around, Join, ch 3 (33dc)
R:
57- 1 Dc in each dc around, join, tie off leaving a 20 inch tail of yarn. (33 dc)
Turn
Hat wrong side out. Thread the tail of yarn in the yarn needle.
Gather
the top of the hat closed and tie securely,
So
it will not be able to be pulled open.
Turn Right side Out and Sew
on your button with matching thread.
