Today Starts Our Winter Crochet A Long.
I AM SO EXCITED!
Last year we Crocheted A Christmas Elf  Together.

It was so much fun.

 Well, Posh Pete our Christmas Elf can not be here
 this year. He must keep the Elves all safe at the
 North Pole. And Santa, too. We Do not want Him
 getting sick before the big night.
So Posh Pete sent instructions for us to crochet
  his best friend, Crystal, The Christmas Puppy.



We will Complete The Puppy in 5 Steps:

Each Step is written out. Pictures and A Video
 will be added each day for each step.

Crystal The Christmas Puppy Crochet Pattern

Step1 – Beginning Info And The Materials List

Skill: Easy

 

Materials:

Crochet Hook – J/ 6.00 – For Puppy Body, Legs, Ears, tail and snout

                          H / 5.00 – For Eye and Collar

Yarn – Chunky (5) 9.5 Oz. – I used So Crafty/ Sparkle Silver (For Puppy)

             Med (4) small amount of black for nose, paw stitches

             Med (4) Small Your choice for collar for collar and tag

Stuffing – Poly fiber fill – 6 oz.

Stitch marker

Yarn Needle

 

 Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch (slst)

Single Crochet (sc)

 

Size: About 20 inches Tall


Step 2 -  Head and Body –

They Are Stitched in one piece.

We will be starting at the top of the head and work in rounds.

 

R: 1 - With 6.00 MM hook, Ch 3, 6 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook,

 join in a circle, ch1. (6 sc)

 


R: 2 - 2 sc in each sc, (12 sc) 



Do not join, we will work in continuous rounds for the rest of step 2

Mark each round with a stitch marker

 

R: 3 - *1 sc in the 1st sc, 2 sc in the next sc, Repeat from * around, (18 sc)

 


R: 4 - * 1 sc in the 1st 2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, Repeat from * around, (24 sc)

 


R: 5 - * 1 sc in the 1st 3 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, Repeat from * around, (30 sc)

 


R: 6 - * 1 sc in the 1st 4sc, 2 sc in the next sc, Repeat from * around, (36 sc)

 


R: 7 - 1 sc in each sc, (36 sc)

 


R: 8 – R: 32 – Repeat R: 7

Tie off Leaving a 24 inch of yarn.

Stuff the head and body, flatten it and slst closed.

 


Cut a pieces of yarn 24 inches long, Tie it around the  “neck”

At R: 16 to form the head of the puppy, secure tightly with

the needle and weave in the ends.



Step 3 - Arms and Legs

 Make 4

The Arms and the Legs are all made exactly the same.

 

R: 1 - With 6.00 mm hook, Ch 3, 6sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join in a circle. ch1 (6 sc)

 


R: 2 - 2 sc in each sc, (12 sc)


 Do not join, we will work in continuous rounds for the rest of step 2

Mark each round with a stitch marker



R: 3 - *1 sc in the 1st sc, 2 sc in the next sc, Repeat from * around, (18 sc)

 


R: 4 - 1 sc in each sc, (18 sc)



R: 5 - R: 18 – Repeat R: 4

Leave an 18 inch tail of yarn for sewing closed and sewing onto doll.

 


Stuff each arm and leg and slst them closed, 


 

Remember to Make 4 Paws

With Black Yarn and needle, stitch 3 lines in the end of each to form the paws.



Sew onto the puppy as shown in the picture.




 

Step 4 – Ears, Tail, Snout And Eyes

Ears: Make 2

R: 1 - With 6.00 mm hook,  Ch 2, 3 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, ch 1 tur, (3sc)

R: 2 - 1 sc in each sc, ch 1 turn

R: 3 – 2 sc in the 1st sc, 1 sc in the next, 2 sc in the next sc, ch 1, turn. (5sc)

R: 4 – 1 sc in each sc, ch 1 turn. (5sc)

Skip to R: 7 For Kitty Ear

R: 5 – R: 6 - Repeat R: 4

R: 7 – 1 sc in each sc across, turn sc evenly up the side of the ear,

3 sc in the top point of the ear, sc evenly down the side of the ear,



Join to sc with a sl st, tie off leaving a 12 inch tail of yarn to sew on top of puppy head.

 


Tail:

With 6.00 mm hook, Ch 11, 1 slst in the 2nd ch from the hook, sl in the next 2 chs,

 sc in the next 4, dc in the last 2 chs, tie off leaving a 10 inch tail of yarn.

Sew tail onto the back of the puppy.



Snout:

R: 1 - With 6.00 mm hook, ch 2, 6 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join with a slst to 1st sc,
 to form a circle, ch 1(6sc)

R: 2 – 2 sc in each sc around, join with a sl st to the top of the 1st sc, ch 1 (12sc)

R: 3 - *1sc in the 1st sc, 2 sc in the next sc* Repeat From * to * around (18 sc)

 R: 3 – 1 sc in each sc around, join, tie off leaving a 12 inch tail of yarn for sewing

snout on the front of the puppy.



Stuff a small amount of stuffing in the snout, and

Center it on the front of the puppy head and sew in place.

With Needle Black yarn embroider the nose and mouth on the center of the snout.

 


Eyes: Make 2

With Med 4 yarn and The H / 5.00 Crochet hook

With 5.00 mm hook and Black yarn, ch 3, 6 sc in the 2nd ch from the Hook, join to the 1st, sc,

 Tie off leaving a 10 inch tail of yarn for sewing eyes on.

Place and sew the eyes right above the snout on each side.

  





Step 5 – The Collar and finishing Up

With Med (4) yarn and The H / 5.00 Crochet hook

 R: 1 - with 5.00 mm hook and med (4) yarn
 Ch 41, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 
 1 sc in ch across, turn, ch1(40 sc)


R: 2 – 1 sc in each sc, turn, ch1(40sc)

R: 3 – Repeat R: 2, tie off, leaving a 12 inch tail of yarn


 Add a charm or button to the collar, and gently ease around  the puppies neck.
sew the ends closed with the tail of yarn and the needle.

for The Bow - Ch 41, tie off, knot each end and attach to the puppy, add a button if you desire.



 You can add any embellishments you like. Buttons, ribbons, bow or even clothes.

This is one of Classic Stitches that you can make 
lots of different projects.
Once you learn this stitch you will love it.
You will also learn the Foundation half Double crochet with this month's Washcloth of the month.

Skill: Easy

Materials:
Crochet hook – H / 5.00 MM
Yarn – med (4) Cotton 1 oz. each of 2 colors (C1, C2)
Yarn Needle

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Change to (chgto)
Skip (sk)
Space (sp)
Foundation Half Double Crochet (FDHDC)

Size: 10 X 10 Inches
4 Sts = 1 inch
2 rows = 1 inch
Multiples - 4 + 3

Notes:
Ch1 Does not Count as a st.
Ch3 Counts as a ch3
When Changing Ch1/ Ch3 After the color change.
When changing colors do not cut your yarn, trail it up the side of the washcloth.

R: 1 – With C1, 30 FDHDC, turn, ch 1 (30 FDHDC)

R:2 – 1 sc in the 1st 2 sts, *ch3, sk 2 sts, sc in the next st*
Repeat From * to * 8 More times, sc in the last st, turn.
(4sc, 9 sets of ch3)

R: 3- Chgto C2, Ch3, 1 dc in the next sc, *3 dc in the next ch3 sp*
Repeat From * to * 8 More times, 1 dc in the last 2 sc,
Turn, Ch 1. (4dc, 9 sets of 3dc)

R: 4 – 1 sc in the 1st 2 dc, sc in the sp before the next 3dc set,
*ch3, sc between the next 2 sets of 3 dc sets*
Repeat From * to * 8 More Times, 1 sc in the last 2 dc,
Turn (4sc, 9 sets of ch3)

R: 5 – Chgto To C1, Repeat R: 3

R: 6 – Repeat R: 4

R: 7 – R: 20 – Repeat R: 3 and R: 4 alternating rows
and Changing colors every 2 rows.

R: 21 – Chg Colors, tie off the other colors and Repeat R: 4
Do not tie off.

Trim:
Turn, 1 hdc in each dc across, 3 hdc in the corner,
Evenly hdc around the other 3 sides of the washcloth,
placing 3 hdc in each corner,
Join to the 1st hdc, and tie off.
