Back To Crochet Basics - Lesson 7 - 
 Half Double Crochet

Each lesson will have a 
Lesson Portion and a Practice Project portion, 
so we can put our skills to work.

In our last Lesson (6), We learned to Half Double Crochet
 in Straight Rows.
Today's Lesson we are learning to Half Double Crochet
 Around, How to increase, change colors and join.

What You Need For The Lesson 7:
Crochet Hook - H/ 5.00MM
Yarn - 3 colors of Worsted weight (4)
Yarn Needle
Scissors

Our Practice Project:
Small Drawstring Bag Crochet Pattern by Sara Sach



Skill: Beginner

Materials:
Crochet Hook - H/ 5.00MM
Yarn - 3 colors of Worsted weight (4)
          ( C1, C2, C3)
Yarn Needle
Scissors



Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Change to (Chgto)
Stitch (st)

Notes:
ch 2 counts as a hdc
Rows are joined to the ch2 with a Slst

Size: 4 X 3 inches

R: 1 - With c1, Ch 5, Form in a circle, ch2, 9 hdc in the circle,
join, ch 2 ( 10 hdc)

R: 2 - 1hdc in the same st as the ch2, 
2 hdc in each st around, join, ch 2 ( 20 hsc)

R: 3 - 1 hdc in each st around, join, ch 2 ( 20hdc)

R: 4- Chgto C2, Repeat R: 3

R: 5 - Repeat R : 3

R: 6 -Chgto C3, Repeat R: 3

R: 7 - Repeat R: 3

R: 8 - Chgto C1, Repeat R: 3

R: 9 - Repeat R : 3

R: 1- Repeat R: 3, tie off weave in your ends.

Drawstring :
 Ch 25, tie off, cut your yarn.
Weave the tie through R : 10,  2 sts at a time.
tie the ends together.

Today's Lesson We Will Be Learning:

Half Double Crochet Stitches In Rows,

How To Change Colors

Sewing a button onto crochet projects

What you need for Lesson Six
Crochet Hook - H/ 5.00MM
Yarn - Worsted Weight Yarn (4) - 2 colors
Yarn Needle
A Button  - 1 to 1.5 inch
Scissors


Practice Project - Coffee Cup Cozy

Skill: Beginner

Materials:
Crochet Hook - H/ 5.00MM
Yarn - Worsted Weight Yarn (4) 2 colors
Yarn Needle
Scissors
1 Button - 1 to 1.5 inch

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Change to (chgto)

Size: 9.5 X  3.5 inches

Notes:
Ch1 does not count as a st
When Changing colors, Ch1 after the color change
When changing colors, Do not cut yarn, tail it up the side.

R: 1 - With Color 1, Ch10, turn, 1 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook,
1 hdc in each ch across, (9 hdc)

R: 2 - Ch1, 1 hdc in each hdc, turn (9 hdc)

R: 3 - Chgto Color 2, ch1, 1 hdc in each hdc, turn

R: 4 - Ch1, 1 hdc in each hdc, turn (9 hdc)

R: 5 - Chgto Color 1, ch1, 1 hdc in each hdc, turn

R: 6 - Ch1, 1 hdc in each hdc, turn (9 hdc)

R: 7 - R: 22 - Repeat R: 3 - R: 6 , 4 times

R: 23 - Ch1, sc in the 1st 5 hdc, 
ch 12, join with a slst to the 5th sc,(button loop made)
sc in the last 5 sc,  turn and sc evenly down the side of the Coffee Cup Cozy.
(which is the top, were the tail was tailed up the side)


Tie off and weave in your ends.

Center Button, and sew in place using matching yarn and needle.
