Dolly and Me Whimsical Capes | Posh Pooch Designs

Dolly and Me Whimsical Capes 
Crochet Pattern

little girls and their American Girl Dolls.
 I didn't so I wrote one.

Skill: Easy

Materials:
Crochet Hook: I
Yarn: Bulky yarn (5) 3-4 oz. Child’s Cape, 1 oz. Doll’s Cape
           I used Lion Brand Tweed Stripes/ Popsicle

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Double Crochet (dc)
Foundation Double Crochet (FDC)
Skip (sk)
Space (sp)

Sizes: Doll – 18 inch Doll (American Girl Doll)
            Girl - S – 3-5 year old – 20 inches), M-6-8 year old (24 inches)
Pattern written in Small with Medium in parenthesis.

Girl Cape Pattern:
Gauge: 4 dc = 1 inch
Each row is approximately = 1/2 inch

Notes: ch3 counts as the 1st Dc on the next row.

R: 1 - FDC 63 (66) Turn, ch 3

R: 2 – 1 dc in the same st as ch 3, *ch3, sk 2 dc, dc, ch1, dc in the next dc*
Repeat From * to * across row, ch 3 turn.

R: 3 – 1 dc in the same dc as the ch3, *ch3, dc, ch1,
dc in the ch1 space between the next 2 dc*
Repeat From * to * across row, Turn, ch 3

R: 4 – R: 15 – Repeat R: 3.
Only ch 1 at the end of R: 15

R: 16 – Trim -1 sc in each st and in each ch around, tie off and weave in your ends.

Sew a Button to top right side. No buttonholes are needed, as the space between
 the 1st 2 dc are perfect for the buttonholes.


Doll Cape Pattern:
Notes: ch2 counts as the 1st hdc on the next row.

R: 1 - FDC 33, Turn, ch 2

R: 2 – 1 hdc in the same st as ch 2, *ch2, sk 2 dc, hdc, ch1, hdc in the next dc*
Repeat From * to * across row, ch 3 turn.

R: 3 – 1 hdc in the same hdc as the ch2, *ch2, hdc, ch1,
hdc in the ch1 space between the next 2 hdc*
Repeat From * to * across row, Turn, ch 3

R: 4 – R: 6 – Repeat R: 3.
Only ch 1 at the end of R: 6

R: 7 – Trim - 1 sc in each st and in each ch around, tie off and weave in your ends.

Sew a Button to top right side. No buttonholes are needed, as the space between
 the 1st 2 hdc are perfect for the buttonholes.

Dolly Spring Poncho For American Girl Dolls Crochet Pattern | Posh Pooch Designs

My grand daughter's birthday is coming and 
I am having a blast designing her some doll clothes
 for her American Girl Dolls.

She asked for some "Dolly and Me" Things
 so this is the first one I came up with.


The Dolly and Me Spring Ponchos
She loves Purple, and I was thinking Spring.
I really love it.
I think the Bright flowers really make the 
Ponchos say,"Spring is Here!"
The Doll is wearing a "Simple Doll Dress" 
under the poncho.

Materials:
Crochet Hook - H/ 5.00MM
Yarn - Worsted Weight yarn (4) Red Heart Love (2 oz of each color)
             Purple – C1, Dark Purple – C2
             Small amount of green, yellow and pink for flowers
Yarn needle

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Space (sp)
Skip (sk)

Size:  Doll poncho - Fits 18 inch dolls like American Girl Dolls (9 X 12 inches)
         
Notes:
Ch1 does not count as a st, ch2 does count as a st.
When changing colors, ch2 after the color change.

R: 1 – with C2, ch 31, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook,
 1 sc in each ch across, ch 2, turn, (30sc)

R: 2 – Ch2 counts as 1st hdc, 1 hdc in the next sc, *ch2, sk 2 sc, 1 hdc in the next 2 sc*
Repeat From * to * across row, ch2, turn (8 clusters, 7 ch2 sps = 30sts)

R: 3 - Ch2 counts as 1st hdc, 1 hdc in the next hdc, 2 hdc in the next ch 2 sp
*ch2, 2 hdc in the next ch2 sp*
Repeat From * to * across row, 1hdc in the last 2 hdc, ch 2, turn.
(9 clusters, 6 ch2 sps = 30sts)

R: 4 - Ch2 counts as 1st hdc, 1 hdc in the next hdc, *ch2, 2 hdc in the next ch2 sp*
Repeat From * to * across row, 1hdc in the last 2 hdc, ch 2, turn.
(8 clusters, 7 ch2 sps =30sts)

R: 5 – Repeat R: 3

R: 6 – Chg to C1, Repeat R: 4
R: 7 – Repeat R: 3
R: 8 – Repeat R: 4
R: 9 – Repeat R: 3

R: 10 – Chg to C2, Repeat R: 4
R: 11 – Repeat R: 3
R: 12 – Repeat R: 4
R: 13 – Repeat R: 3

R: 14 –Chg to C1, 1hdc in each hdc and 2 hdc in each ch 2 sp  across, ch1, turn (30 hdc)

R: 15 – Forming the neck hole - 1 hdc in the 1st 8 hdc, ch14, sk the next 14 hdc,
Join to the next hdc with a hdc, 1 hdc in the last 7 hdc, ch 1, turn
(8hdc, ch14, 8hdc =30 sts)
R: 16 – 1 hdc in each hdc, and in each ch across, ch1 turn, (30hdc)

R: 17 – Chg to C1, Repeat R: 2
R: 18 – Repeat R: 3
R: 19 – Repeat R: 4
R: 20 – Repeat R: 3

R: 21 – Chg to C2, Repeat R: 4
R: 22 – Repeat R: 3
R: 23 – Repeat R: 4
R: 24 – Repeat R: 3

R: 25 – Chg to C1, Repeat R: 4
R: 26 – Repeat R: 3
R: 27 – Repeat R: 4
R: R8 – Repeat R: 5

R: 29 – 1sc in each hdc and 2 sc in each ch 2 sp across (30hdc)


 Trim-
With C2, Turn working up the side of the poncho, 3 hcc in the corner, hdc evenly,
Placing 1 hdc in the end of each row, 3 hdc in the next corner,
hdc across the bottom of the poncho, 3 hdc in the corner,
hdc evenly up the 2nd side of the poncho.
hdc across the front bottom of the poncho, join to the ch2 with a sl st.
Tie off and weave in the ends.

Small Flowers – Make 3 in your choice of colors
Ch 2, 12 dc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join with a slst to 1st dc.
Ch 3, 3 hdc, in 1st dc, ch3, sl st in the next dc, ch 3, (1 petal made)
Repeat 5 more times for 6 petals. Tie off, and weave in your end.
Sew onto poncho.
