I Designed This Crochet Pattern September 2014 

and decided it as time to retest, update and

 film a brand new video.

Crochet Pattern

Skill - Easy

Materials-

Hook- N- 9.00MM

Yarn - Homespun  Lion Brand Bulky(5) 1.5 skeins (9 oz.)

I used Homespun color -Bourbon

Any (5) Bulky yarn can be used for this pattern.

Yarn needle to weave in ends.

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Double Crochet (dc)

Picot (ptst)

space (sp)

Size: 30 L. By 60 W. Inches

2 Chs = 1 inch, 

1 row = 1 inch

Notes:

When working with this type of yarn, it is best to crochet loosely.

Ch4 at ends of rows counts a dc, ch1 on the next row.

Pattern: 

R: 1 - Ch5, dc, ch1, dc in the 5th ch from the hook, ch4, turn (3dc)
(The first 4 chs of the beginning chain count as your

1st double crochet, chain 1.)

(3dc, 2 ch1)

R: 2 - 1 dc in the same st as the Ch4, ch1 dc in the next dc,

ch 1, dc, ch1, dc in the last dc, ch 4, turn (5 dc, 4 ch1)

R: 3 - 1 dc in the same st as the Ch4, ch1 dc in the next dc, 3 times,

dc, ch1, dc in the last dc, ch 4 , turn (7 dc, 6 ch1)

R: 4 - 1 dc in the same st as the Ch4, *ch1, dc in the next dc*,

Repeat From * to * across row,  ch1, dc, ch1, dc, in the last dc,

ch4, turn (9 dc, 8 ch1)

R: 5 -  1 dc in the same st as the Ch4, *ch1, dc in the next dc*,

Repeat From * to * across row,  ch1, dc, ch1, dc, in the last dc,

ch4, turn (11 dc, 10 ch1)

R: 6 - 1 dc in the same st as the Ch4, *ch1, dc in the next dc*,

Repeat From * to * across row,  ch1, dc, ch1, dc, in the last dc,

ch4, turn (13 dc, 12 ch1)

R: 7 - R: 30 -- Repeat R:6 -

You should have 2 increases for each row.

Ch3 After R: 30 or your last row

If you want your Shawl to be bigger, continue to repeat 

R: 6 until you have the desired size.

R: 31 - 1 dc in the 1st dc, 1 dc in the 1st ch1 space,

 *1 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next ch1 space* 

Repeat From * to * across row,

We will be working down the side of the shawl toward the point, 

*evenly space 5 dc, 1 pc st* Repeat down the side of the shawl to

 the point, then work up the other side of the shawl till you 

reach the 1st dc,

Join and tie off. Weave in your ends. 

All finished and ready to wear.

I really love this style of yarn. I know many do not.

And Struggle crocheting with it.

 But I really like a challenge.

What is Boucle Yarn?

"Yarn With a looped or curled ply" 

1. 
   

 Crocheting with this Boucle yarn.

1. Choose a large project.  Do not try to make little 

intricate designs.

Most of the color variegation can not be seen with a small

project. I suggest scarves, throws, blankets and cowls.

2. Choose a project with very little detail. 

Most intricate detail is lost because of the bumpy and

fuzziness of the yarn.

3. Crochet loosely - It is better to be too lose then 

too tight with this type of yarn. It is hard to find the

stitches if you crochet too tightly, and just as hard to work

with if you are a tight stitcher.

4. Lastly, don't let the yarn frustrate you. 

Make a practice swatch, and study how to find your

stitches, and where to place your hook.

If you are struggling with it, set it down and come back later.

It is a thick boucle, so I made the pattern simple to crochet. 

But the end result is definitely not simple.

It's Classy, Warm and Comfy.

Although this yarn is a bulky 5, it is not heavy, 

and yet still very warm.

Super Nova Super Scarf And Wrap Crochet Pattern

Materials:

Crochet Hook – N / 9.00MM

Yarn – Super Bulky (5) (32 oz/ 480 yds.) 

Yarn Needle for weaving in ends.

Scissors

Stitch markers for keeping your chain count

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Double Crochet (dc)

Skip (sk)

Size: 84 X 33 inches with Fringe

Multiples - 2 + 5 Chs

2 chs = 1 inch

1 Row = 1 inch

Pattern notes: 

Ch 4 counts as 1 dc, ch1 at beginning of rows.

R: 1 – Loosely ch 67, 1 dc in the 5^th ch from the hook, ch 1,

*sk the next ch, dc in the next ch, ch 1* Repeat From * to * across chain,

 Turn, ch 4 (33 dc, 32 ch 1 spaces)

R: 2 - *1 dc in the next dc, ch 1* Repeat From * to * across row, 

dc in the 3rd ch of the ch4, Turn, ch 4

(33dc, 32 ch1 spaces)

R: 3 - Repeat R: 2

R: 4 - Repeat R : 2

R: 5 – R: 84 – Continue to Repeat R: 2, tie off weave in your ends.

I did not add any trim, as I didn't see it was necessary.

Add or substract length as desired. 

Fringe: See Video above for how to attach Fringe.

Cut pieces of yarn 12 inches long for each end of the scarf.

With 2 strands of yarn, attach yarn to the 1^st corner,

 then repeat in each ch1 space, and on the last corner.

Repeat On the opposite end of the Scarf.

Repeat On the opposite end of the Scarf.

What a comfy and elegant scarf and Wrap Shawl.

 It's perfect for any time of the day.

It also makes a great  throw,

 when there is a chill in the air.

Homespun Christmas Tree Skirt Crochet Pattern

 I was going to release this design this last year, but time
 got away from me. So here it is a year later..and I love it!

It is a really easy pattern that stitches up fast.

It lays beautifully and sort of reminds me of one of
my old Christmas Sweaters!

I wanted a Rocky Mountain Colorado Rustic Feel.

It hasn't started snowing yet, so I put it around one
 of the trees in the side of yarn.

I chose this tree for the photo, for it's rustic pine tree look
 and imperfections. Those scars are from the Bucks 
rubbing their antlers on the it.

The yarn I used is Holiday Homespun, by Lionbrand Yarn.

 1 skein each of Red, Green and White.

 It is  lovely soft and bumpy yarn,with gold thread
 running through it.

It is a Bulky (5) yarn, so if you do not have this yarn, 

or want to use a different yarn, any Bulky (5) would

 probably work great.

As you can see from this picture, it is basically stitched in a pentagon shape, and has a fun and easy chain loop trim.
You do not have to use the same striping effect I used.

                              1 skein of each color – C1 White, C2 – Red, C3- Green

5 Stitch markers for marking the Corners

But once you learn the pattern, it is super easy,

Fringed  Boucle' Cowl

Fringed Homespun Cowl Crochet Pattern - 

A Beginner Pattern for Working with 

Homespun Style Yarns.

I was given this beautiful Sky Blue Yarn,  

and thought it would make a lovely  Fringed Cowl.

 The yarn is Lionbrand Homespun.

The colors are Sky Blue and White.

The Applique is make with Worsted Weight (4)Yarn.

This simple pattern is a great way to use up some

 of the Homespun style yarn you have and don't

 know what to do with it.

This Cowl is made using Homespun Yarn, 

the colorway is Water Fall.

I love how the fringe fluffs out and gets a little fuzzy.

Because this yarn can be a little tricky to work with.

Fringed Boucle' Cowl Crochet Pattern By Sara Sach

Please add this crochet Pattern to Your Ravelry Favorites.

Skill: Easy

Materials:

Crochet Hooks – K 6.50 MM for Cowl
                            H 5.00 MM for Applique

Yarn – Cowl -Chunky (5) Homespun or any Boucle' Yarn 4 oz.

             I used Homespun Lion Brand Sky Royal Blue C1 – 3 oz.

            Small Amount of White Lion Brand Homespun C2 – 1 oz.

             Applique -Worsted Weight (4) Yellow – C3, Red – C4

Yarn Needle 

Stitch Markers - 10

Stitches and Terms:

Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch (sl st)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Half Double Crochet (hdc)

Skip (sk)

Change (chg)

Size: 36 X 8 inches with fringe

   Easy to adjust to as long as you like and as wide as you like.
2 chains = 1 inch
1 Row = 1 inch

     

 Notes:

Ch4 at beginning of rounds counts as 1dc, ch1.

Join each round with a slst.
Ignore the color changes if making in one colorway.

Pattern:
R: 1 - With K hook and C1, ch 100, loosely.

Use Your stitch markers to mark every 10 chs
 to help you keep your stitch count correct. 

 join with a slst,

 Be careful not to twist the ch. (100 chs)

R: 2 – Ch4, *sk next ch, 1 dc in the next ch, ch 1*

Repeat From * to * around, join to 3^rd ch. (100sts)

R: 3 – Ch4, *sk next st, 1 dc in the next dc, ch1*

Repeat From * to * around, join. (100sts)

R: 4 – Chg to C2, Repeat R: 3

R: 5 – Chg to C1, Repeat R: 3

R: 6 – R: 7 - Repeat R: 3
To make the Cowl longer add more rows here.
tie off weave in your ends.

Fringe:
Make a Template:

Wrap the yarn around, and cut to length needed.

With C1, cut 100 pieces of yarn, 7 inches long.

Loop one piece of yarn into each dc and ch1 sp. 

Once your have added your fringe, look through to make sure you have not missed any.

With H hook and C3, Ch 5 join in a circle,
 ch 2, 9 hdc in the circle, join with a sl st,

(10 hdc)

Change to C4, ch 3, 1 dc in the same st as ch3, 

2 dc in next 7 hdc tie off.

Weave in your ends.

Place on cowl and sew into place with matching yarn.

I am so in love with this cowl. 

 I have several other colors of Homespun Style yarn. 

 I am going to make a few more.
