The Loop Handle Washcloth is great for kitchen and bath.

 It's a fun gift to add to a wedding or baby shower gift,

 as well as, a house warming and off to college gift.

The loop give you a way to hang it up to dry, 

loop it over a cabinet or draw handle, or up on the

 sink faucet or a hook. No more soggy washcloths

 in the sink or tub. 

Stitch up a bunch from your yarn stash and have

 them on hand for last minute gifts. It's also a great take

 a long project that fits neatly in your carry on bag.

Please note, If you are going to be giving these

 to a small child, do not add the button, as it might

 be a choking hazard.

Yarn – Peaches And Creme / Stripey / Green - 2 oz.

Yarn Needle

Decorative Button
 
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Half Double Crochet V Stitch (Hdc Vst)
Skip (sk)
Space (sp)
 
Size:  10 X 10 Inches
Multiples of 2 + 2
 
Notes:
Ch1 does not count as a st
 
Pattern:

R: 1- Loosely ch 32, hdc in the 2^nd ch from the hook,
Hdc in each ch across, turn, ch 1 (31 hdc)
 

R: 2 – Hdc in the 1^st 2 hdc, sk the next hdc,
*hdc, ch1, hdc in the next hdc, sk the next hdc*
Repeat From * to * 12 more times,
1 hdc in the last 2 hdc, turn, ch 1 (4 hdc, 13 Hdc Vst)

R: 3 - Hdc in the 1^st 2 hdc, sk the next hdc,
*hdc, ch1, hdc in the ch1 sp of the next hdc *
Repeat From * to * 12 more times,
1 hdc in the last 2 hdc, turn, ch 1 (4 hdc, 13 Hdc Vst)

R: 4 - Hdc in the 1^st 2 hdc, sk the next hdc,
*hdc, ch1, hdc in the ch1 sp of the next hdc *
Repeat From * to * 12 more times,
1 hdc in the last 2 hdc, turn, ch 1 (4 hdc, 13 Hdc Vst)

R: 5 – R: 21 - Repeat R: 5

R: 22 – Hdc in each hdc across, do not st in the ch1 sps,

Hdc, ch1, hdc in the corner

Evenly Hdc around the other 3 sides of the washcloth,
Place a hdc, ch1, hdc in each of the corners,
Join to the 1st hdc with a slst

Loop - Ch 24, join to the hdc with a slst,
26 sc around the ch, join to the washcloth with a slst,
tie off leaving a 10 inch tail of yarn.
 
Sew on the button securely with the tail of yarn.

They are so much fun to make and give, 

you will want to stitch up a bunch of them.

The Technique For The Thick And Thirsty Dishcloth

 makes a very dense cloth which makes it very absorbent.

 That's Why we called it 'thick And thirsty".

We are stitching half Double Crochet stitches, 

but stitching them through the front, back and 3rd loop.

 This is what give the cloth it's thickness.

This Technique also works great for hot pads and

 pot holders.  It is safe for working with hot items,  

because it is thick and does not have holes. 

It will protect your hands and surfaces.

This Cloth is so easy to adjust to any size because 

there is no multiples. Just add more chains for width, 

and add more rows for length. Measure as you go.

I also really like the way it stitches up when alternating

 two colors of yarn. And it has a little bit of texture

 for scrubbing and cleaning.

Crochet Hook – H / 5.00MM
Yarn – Med (4) Cotton Sugar And Cream
             C1- Orange – 1 oz., C2- Green – 1 oz.
Yarn Needle
 
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Change to (chgto)
 
Stitching through 3 loops Crochet Technique –
The Technique we will be using is
Stitching Hdc in the front, back and 3^rd loop at the same time.
Yo, push the hook through the front, back and 3rd loop,
From the front of your work,
Yo, and pull the loop through the 2 loops on the hook.
I demonstrate this technique in the Video tutorial
 
Size: 9 X 9 Inches
3 ch = 1 inch
3 rows = 1 inch
To make the Cloth wider add more beginning chs.
          There is not a multiple of sts.
To Make the Cloth longer add as many rows as you desire.

Ch1 does Not Count as a st

R: 1 - With C1, ch 26, 1 sc in the 2^nd ch from the hook.
1 hdc in each ch across, turn, ch 1 (25 hdc)

R: 2 – 1 hdc in each sc across, turn, ch1 (25 hdc)

R: 3 –Stitching Through 3 loops, as explained above
1 hdc in each hdc across, turn, (25 hdc)

R: 4 - Chgto C2, ch1
Stitching Through 3 loops,
1 hdc in each hdc across, turn, (25 hdc)

R: 5 - Stitching Through 3 loops,
1 hdc in each hdc across, turn, (25 hdc)

R: 6 - Chgto C1, ch1
Stitching Through 3 loops,
1 hdc in each hdc across, turn, (25 hdc)
 
R: 7 - Stitching Through 3 loops,
1 hdc in each hdc across, turn, (25 hdc)

R: 8 – R: 23 – Repeat R: 4 – R: 7 for 4 more times

Evenly Sc to the corner, sc, ch1, sc in the corner,

 Witches Skirt Dishcloth And Washcloth Crochet Pattern

I designed This Pattern a several years ago. At The time 

of release it was Called 'Tie Dyed Washcloth" 

because I used yarn I had Tie Dyed. It was quite fun.

 But I wanted to update the Pattern with yarns that 

everyone could find and use.

I chose Halloween Color and Changed the Name To

 "Witches Skirt Washcloth", because it looks just like

 the colors of skirts witches would wear.

I redesigned this crochet pattern using cotton yarns 

like Peaches and Cream and I Love This Cotton. 

Any cotton will work as long as it's a Med (4) Cotton. 

I Chose to use an H / 5.00Mm Crochet Hook because 

It works best for the style of Washcloth.

I am very happy with how this washcloth worked up and 

love that is can also be used as a small doily. 

Place a candle, candy dish or decorative item on it.

Yarn - Any Cotton of Choice –  2.5 oz.

Yarn Needle

 

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch (slst)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Skip (sk)

 

Size: 8 inches across

 

Notes:

Ch3 counts as a dc

Rounds are joined with a slst to the ch 3

When Changing Colors Ch1/ Ch3 After The Color Change

Change colors At R: 4 and R: 6

 

R: 1 - Ch 5, join in a circle, ch3 in the circle,

9 dc in the circle,

Join, ch 3 (10dc)

R: 2 - 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, ch1

2dc, ch1 in the each st around, join, ch 3.

(10 sets of 2dc, ch1)

 

R: 3 – 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, 2 dc in the next st, ch1,

*2 dc in the next 2 dc, ch 1*

Repeat From * to * 8 more times, join, ch 3.

(10 sets of 4 dc, ch1)

 

R: 4 – 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, 1 dc in the next 2 dc, 

2 dc in the next dc, ch1,

*2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next 2 dc, 2 dc in the next dc, ch 1*

Repeat From * to * 8 more times, join, ch 3.

(10 sets of 6 dc, ch1)

 

R: 5 - 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, 1 dc in the next 4 dc,

 2 dc in the next dc, ch1,

*2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next 4 dc, 2 dc in the next dc, ch 1*

Repeat From * to * 8 more times, join, ch 1.

(10 sets of 8 dc ch1)

 

R: 6 – 1 sc in each dc, and 1 sc in each ch1 space around, join, Ch3

R: 7 - Slst in the same st as ch3,

*sk the next sc, dc, slst in the next sc*

Repeat From * to * around, join. Tie off and weave in your ends. 

The Washcloth may be a little bit rippled it's okay. 

Witches Skirts are a little bit rippled

 But if you want it to lay flat, go down a hook size to

 tighten up your stitches.

Today's Topic is 

"What Is the Best Yarn For Dishcloths and Washcloths?"

Before you yell "Cotton", Let's talk about it.
What are you going to use it For?
What you use it for can determine which yarn is best.

1. Washing your skin? or baby's skin.
I would only use cotton, and try to use a soft cotton.
Like I love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby.

The nice thing about cotton yarn is it get softer 
and more absorbent each time you wash it.

2. Washing The Dishes?
For Washing dishes I like to use cotton. Sometimes cotton
 is too absorbent and can absorb the smell, 
and mildew easily. Make sure you rinse them out 
and wash them often. 

My favorite choice for dishes is the new Scrubby yarns.

I like to combine cotton and scrubby yarn together.

You get the best of both, Cotton and the scrubby yarn

 work well together and wash up nicely.

3. As A Placemat or Table Runner? I think if you are not
 going to place anything hot on them, and use them as
 just a table protector, that acrylic yarn is fine.
And if they get dirty you can toss them in the wash.

4. Hot Pads for use and For Decoration?
If you are using them as actual hot pads, 
do not use acrylic yarn, it was melt, and burn.
And it can burn you.
If you are going to use using them fore decoration, 
acrylic yarn is fine. Make sure those who use your 
Kitchen know the difference.

The Bottom line is use what works best for the use of the item.
