Happy Hearts Beanie and Slouchy
 Crochet Pattern

I got so many emails, messages and requests 
to turn the
 into a hat, that I just had to do it.
It fits me perfect, and I Love it! 
It is really easy to turn the
 headband into a hat.
And I really like how it urned out.
This is the beanie, and instructions
 are given to make it a slouchy hat, too.

Skill: intermediate

Materials:
Crochet Hook – I
Yarn – Worsted Weight (4) 2 oz. of each color.
             Pink C1, Lavender C2, White C3
            I used Red Heart Super Saver
Yarn Needle

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Triple Crochet (tr)
Skip (sk)
Stitch together (st tog)

Sizes: are approximates
Child – Small/16 inches
Youth – Medium/18 inches
Adult – Large/20 inches

Notes:
Pattern is written in Large
 (medium and small in parenthesis)

12 + 3 is the beginning ch repeat.
Small – 5 repeats for 5 hearts (ch 60+3)
Medium – 6 repeats for 6 hearts (ch72+3)
Large – 7 repeats for 7 hearts (ch84+3) 
Skill: Easy

Notes:
Join rounds with a sl st, Ch3 counts as a dc.

Make the Head band in your 
Colors of Choice according to the directions
 of the Headband R: 1 – 6. HERE
Use Size indicated by the head band Pattern.

R: 7 – Join yarn to the top of Headband, 
with a sl st and ch 3 (counts as 1st dc).
1 dc in each hdc around. Join with a sl st, ch 3
(Your st count will depend which size you are making)

R: 8 - 1 dc in each dc, join, ch 3

R: 9 - R: 10(11, 12) - Repeat R: 8

For a Slouchy hat Repeat R: 8 for 3 additional Rows.

R: 13 – *St tog 1st 2 dc, 1 dc in the next 5 dc*
              Repeat From * to * around, 
dc in the remaining dcs, join, ch 3

R: 14 - *St tog 1st 2 dc, 1 dc in the next 4 dc*
              Repeat From * to * around,
 dc in the remaining dcs, join, ch 3

R: 15 - *St tog 1st 2 dc, 1 dc in the next 3 dc*
              Repeat From * to * around, 
dc in the remaining dcs, join, ch 3

R: 16 -*St tog 1st 2 dc, 1 dc in the next 2 dc*
              Repeat From * to * around, 
dc in the remaining dcs, join, ch 3

R: 17 - *St tog 1st 2 dc* Repeat From * to * around,
 dc in the remaining dc,
               Join, tie off leaving an 18 inch tail of yarn. 
Turn your hat wrong side out.
               With the tail of yarn gather closed the top
 of the hat and tie securely.


Optional Heart Ties:
Crochet 2 individual hearts. Same shown on the headband.
Sc evenly around each heart with contrasting yarn.
Make 2 chains 20chs long. Attach one to each heart
 and attach them to the top of the hat.
I used lots of Purple and Pink
 for testing the patterns,

Happy Hearts Cowl Crochet Pattern

I have designed a Cowl to go with the 
Happy Hearts Headband that I released last week.
It is the Happy Hearts Cowl Crochet Pattern


The Heart Technique is done exactly like the headband.


Only More repeats, for length.
Which means you can 
make the Cowl as long, or as short as you want.
The Colorado Colors Cowl is 
36 inches around.
and
The Pink and Grey cowl is 40 inches around, 
and long enough to wrap.

Materials:
Crochet Hook – I
Yarn – Worsted Weight (4) 3 Oz. of each color
             Yellow C1, Red C2, Royal Blue C3 White C4
            I used Red Heart Super Saver
Yarn Needle

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Triple Crochet (tr)
Skip (sk)

Sizes:
Medium - 36 inches around X 6 inches wide
Large - 40 inches around X 6 inches wide

Notes:
Pattern is written with the Colorado Colors,
 but you can change the colors as you like.

Pattern is written in Medium with Large in Parenthesis
12 + 3 is the beginning ch repeat.
Small – 12 repeats for 12 hearts (ch 120+3)
Medium – 14 repeats for 14 hearts (ch144+3)

R: 1 – We will be starting with the hearts –
With C1, Ch123 (147), 1 dc in the 6th ch from the end.

Ch3 counts as 1st dc.
4dc in the same st. (5dc)
Sk next 2 chs, 1 sl st in the next ch,
Sk the next 2 chs, 5dc in the next ch,
Sk the next 2 chs, slst in the next ch
1st 2 heart bumps made

*sk next 2 chs, 5 dc in the next ch, sk next 2 chs,
1 sl st in the next ch, sk next 2 chs,
5 dc in the next ch, sk the next 2 chs, cl st in the next ch*
Next 2 heart bumps made.
Repeat From * to * 10 more times for medium,
 12 times for Large.
Join last st with sl st.

R: 2 – Turn, Working down the Opposite side of the ch,
*working in the slst between the next 2 hearts bumps,
4 Tr, ch1, 4 Tr
Sl st in the next sl st*
1st heart completed
Repeat From * to* across row,
Join to the 1s st of R: 1
Join the hearts in a circle with a sl st. Tie off C1. 

R: 3 – Join C2, Working the top of the heart bumps,
Dc, hdc, sc, sc, sc, hdc,
dc in the center of the slst from previous row.
Hdc, sc, sc, sc, hdc, dc*
Repeat From * to * around, join to 1st dc.
Do not tie off, Ch 4,

R: 4 - From behind your work,
Move to the bottom of the 1st heart,
*Tr, dc, hdc, sc, sc, sc in the ch2 of the heart point,
Sc, sc, hdc, dc, tr*
Repeat From * to * around, join to 1st heart, ch3

R: 5 – With C3, 1 dc in each st around, 
tie off, weave in your end.

R: 6 - Attach C4 to the top of the Cowl, 
1 dc in each st around, join, ch3

R: 7 – Cross stitch row – *sk the next st,
 1 dc in the next st, cross back and dc in the sk st*
Repeat From * to * around, join, ch 3

R: 8 –  chg C4, to Repeat R: 5

R: 9 – Repeat R: 7

R: 10 – 1 dc in each st around, join, 
tie off weave in your ends.

R: - Chg to C4, 1 hdc in each st, join, 
tie off weave in your ends.
