Little Peanut Butter Jar Bag is a fun way
to recycle an empty peanut butter container
and make something pretty and useful.
Today we are crocheting a fun treasure, candy,
trinket, marble, make up,
or whatever you want to put in side it, bag.
We are using a 16 oz. peanut butter container.
A 16 oz. mason jar will also work. Or just
about Any 16 oz. container you have on hand.
I do recommend you use a plastic jar, especially,
if making it for the kids.
There lots of different jars that will work for
this bag. Pickles jars, mayo, salsa, and sauce jars.
Look in Your pantry I bet you will one that
will work. Again, I do prefer
you use a plastic jar, us adults can be clumsy,
and drop a jar, too.
The crochet pattern is also a fun way to use up
some yarns you have in your yarn stash,
as it does not take very much yarn. Only,
about 2.5 ounces of a medium (4) weight yarn.
I decided to use up some of my older scratchy
yarns. I love how they stitched up. I added
some beads to the ends of the drawstring,
and some fun charms, just for fun.
OH! You do not even have to use the jar / container
if you don't want to. It's still a fun little bag to
make. Stitch up bunch and fill them with candy
for the kids, and adults, too

Materials:
Crochet Hook - H / 5 mm.
Yarn - med (4) Acrylic Yarn - 2.5 oz. Any color/colors you want
Plastic peanut Butter container - 16 oz.
Yarn Needle
Optional - beads, charms, decorations
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC)
Size: Fits the 16 oz. Peanut Butter Container
7 inches tall X 11 inches around
Notes:
Ch1 does not count as a st
Ch3 Counts as a dc
16 oz, mason jars, glass or plastic,
will work for this as well.
Pattern:
R: 1- Ch5, join in a circle, ch3, 11 dc in the circle,
join to the ch3 with a slt, ch 3 (12dc)
R: 2 - Dc in the same st as the ch3,
2 dc in each dc around,
join to the ch3 with a slst, ch1 (24dc)
R: 3 - Sc in the 1st 3 dc, 2 sc in the next dc,
*Sc in the next 3 dc, 2 sc in the next dc*
Repeat from * to * around,
Join to the 1st sc with a slst, ch 3 (30sc)
R: 4 - 1 dc in each sc around,
Join to the ch3 with a slst, ch3 (30dc)
R: 5 - *FPDC in the next dc, dc in the next dc*
Repeat from * to * around,
Join to the ch3 with a slst, ch 3 (15 FPDC, 15 DC)
R: 6 - *FPDC in the next FPDC, dc in the next dc*
Repeat from * to * around,
Join to the ch3 with a slst (15 FPDC, 15 DC)
R: 7 - *Slst in the FPDC,
*FPDC in the next dc, DC in the next FPDC*
Repeat from * to * around,
Join to the FPDC with a slst (15 FPDC, 15 DC)
R: 8 - *Slst in the FPDC,
*FPDC in the next dc, DC in the next FPDC*
Repeat from * to * around,
Join to the FPDC with a slst (15 FPDC, 15 DC)
R: 9 - R: 16 - Repeat R: 7 - R: 8 For 1 more time.
Note: Some Jars may be taller or shorter,
And you may need to adjust the amount of rows.
Add Rows in 2 row repeats
Slip it on your jar/ container to see
if adjustments are needed.
R: 17 - Ch4, sk the next st, Dc in the next st,
*ch3, sk the next st, dc in the next st*
Repeat from * to * around,
Join to the 3rd ch of the ch4, ch3 (15 dc, 15 ch1)
R: 18 - Dc in each dc, and ch1 sp around,
Join to the ch3 with a slst, ch 1 (30 dc)
R: 19 - SC in each dc around,
Join to the 1st sc with a slst, ch2 (30sc)
R: 20 - Hdc in the same st as the ch2,
*sk the next st, slst, ch2, hdc in the next st*
Repeat from * to * around,
Join to the ch2 with a slst,
Tie off weave in the ends.
Drawstring -
Holding 2 strands of yarn together,
Start with a 6 inch tail of yarn, ch 60,
Tie off, leaving a 6 inch strand of yarn.
Knot both ends of the ch.
Lace the Drawstring Through R: 15 ,
Tie securely together about 4 inch from the knots.
Add beads of choice to the strands
of yarn and tie securely.
Add charms and key chains of choice.
Slide the 16 oz. container in side,
and close the top of the bag.
