Dog Woobie Crochet Pattern

Woobie Dog Toy Crochet Pattern
Kids like them, too!
By Sara Sach of Posh Pooch Designs

First of all: What is a Dog Woobie?

A Dog Woobie is a long, about 12 inches or longer,
Stuffed Dog toy, usually shaped like a dog.
Some of them have squeakers, some do not.
It is totally up to you if you want to put a squeaker in
it or not. My Rosie Bell, aka Chihuahua model # 2,
is terrified of the Squeaking sound and runs away
from them. Maximo, aka Chihuahua model #1,
on the other hand, loves the Squeaker and loves to
make it squeak, but probably just to annoy Rosie.

Note about Squeakers and dogs:
My friend has a Doxie who loves to eat toys with squeakers in them. She had to take him to the vet for emergency surgery because he had swallowed the squeaker out of his woobie,
not one of mine, and it had lodged in his intestine.
He almost died. So All My Woobies will not  have the
Squeakers in them.
Maximo says, "Don't touch my Woobie"!

I was wondering if the fiberfill will come out if the dogs consistently chew on it.

How do you join the rounds? I'm kinda new to crochet

Muzzle:

R : 1 - Ch 7, 2 sc in 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in the next 5 chs, 2 sc in next ch, 2 sc in the last ch, working down the other side of the ch, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 5 chs, 2 sc, in next st, join, ch 1

You are working down the opposite side of the chain.

I'm still lost. If I chain 7, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, that only leaves me with 5 ch left before I start working on the other side

Okay, Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I wanted to talk with one of my testers to get it right.

I have corrected it in the pattern in red, But it should be ch 9 not 7

Hope This helps!
Thanks

This is soooo cute! My puppy Melody will love seeing this in her stocking on Christmas! I think I'll fill it with a plastic bottle like someone else thought of, it would keep her happy!

Just finished making my puppy his woobie. I wish I would have seen this when I first got him. I am pretty sure it is bigger than he was lol. I think he actually had more fun with me making it then he might with the actual toy. He thought it was fun to get into the stuffing while I was trying to stuff it. He also thought it was great to try and take the body out of my hands while i was crocheting it. I am so excited I found this site. I plan on making Bentley many more things. He is a baby mini doxie. Sweaters are hard to find with how tiny he is right now and how long he is. . Now I can make them!.

This pattern is a great idea. I made a stuffed dog from my own pattern for my schi-poo 6 years ago. Instead of fiberfill, I used an old soft sweater that I cut up in strips to stuff it with. I made it with bamboo yarn. It has had a lot of shaking, throwing, tugging and it still holds up. Every other dog toy she has ever had gets torn up in a few days to a week.

This is a great idea for a dog toy. I had made a stuffed dog toy for my schi-poo 6 years ago and it has taken a lot of beating, shaking, tossing, tearing and has never fallen apart. I stuffed it with an old soft sweater that I cut up into strips. I made it out of bamboo yarn, soft on the teeth, strong enough to hold up to even Tia's rough housing.

My alternative to normal stuffing is to use only organic catnip, I just make sure that the stitches are tight in whatever project doing.
It's completely safe for dogs and cats to ingest just in case the stuffing magically appears on the outside of the toy :)
