What is a Shrug?
It's A waist length or short jacket, or sweater,
usually designed in Knit or Crochet.


This Shrug is perfect for Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
 It can be worn with any outfit from casual To fancy.
Morning, Brunch, or out for a evenly get together.
It so Comfortable you can wear it anytime and anywhere.

I designed the Firecracker Shrug a few years ago, 
and wanted to up date the Pattern with a new yarn 
since the precious yarn was no longer available. 
I think The Red Heart Ombre is perfect. 
This Colorway is called Hot Sauce.

Skill: Easy
 
Material :
 Hook – J / 6.00 MM
Yarn – Med (4) Red Heart Super Saver Ombre / Hot Sauce 
                   (12 - 20 Oz. Depending on Size)
Yarn Needle
Tape measure
 
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Skip (sk)
Space (sp)
 
Note:
Ch3 counts as a DC
Ch 1 at end of rows does not count as a st.
 
Size: Pattern Written in s (all other sizes in parenthesis)
S – 27 inches
M – 30 inches
L – 33 inches
XL – 36 inches
2 Xl – 39 inches
3 XL – 42 inches

Please Note: these sizes are approximates as some stitch looser, or tighter than others. 

3 Ch = 1 inch
1 Row = 1 inch
 
Remember To Measure as you go for a proper fit.
 
Pattern:
Step 1 - The Body or rectangle of the Shrug
 
 R: 1 - Ch 88 (92, 94, 98, 100, 104)
 1 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across, ch1, turn
 
87(91, 93, 97, 99, 103 sts –
This will be your st count for Your size for the main body of the shrug.
 

R: 2 - 1 hdc in each hdc, ch 3 turn.
 

R: 3 - Repeat R: 2, turn, ch3


R: 4 - 1 dc in the next dc, *ch1, sk the next st, 1 dc in the next st,*
Repeat from * to * across, 1 dc in the last 2 sts, ch 3, turn.


R: 5 - 1 dc in the next dc, *ch1, dc in the next dc*
Repeat from * to * across, 1 dc in the last 2 dc, ch 3, turn.
 

R: 6 – Repeat R: 4, turn, ch1, 
 

R: 7 – 1 hdc in each dc, and ch1 sp across, ch3, turn
 

R: 8 - 1 hdc in each hdc across, ch 3, turn
 
R: 9 – Repeat R: 8, turn, ch 3
 

Repeat R: 4 – R: 9 ,
S – M - 6 times
L - XL – 7 Times
2 XL – 3 XL --8 times

Do not cut yarn.



Once you have completed the amount of repeats for your size,
measure to make sure it is going to fit comfortably.


The Hem- Fold Rectangle in half, Make sure rows are going vertically.
Starting at the right bottom corner of rectangle, 



stitch 4  hdc stitching the front and back together,
Evenly hdc across the shrug only stitching through the top layer, 



 then stitch 4 hdc, stitching the front and back together,
turn, slst in those 4 sts, Evenly hdc across the bottom layer,
 join to 1 st hdc, ch1,


Turn working back in the opposite direction. 1 hdc in each hdc across,
Do not st in the 4 hdc, 1 hdc in the hdc across, join to the 1st hdc,
 tie off weave in your ends. 
 


 The Sleeves
Join yarn next to 1st hdc of the beginning 4 hdc, 
sc evenly around the sleeve opening, join to the 1st sc,
 tie off, weave in your end.


Repeat on the other Sleeve opening.
