Materials:
Crochet Hook – H / 5 mm
Yarn Med (4) Acrylic Yarn, Red heart Super Saver
                      Red – 1.5 oz.
                       Bright pink, White, light green, Green – 1 oz. of each
Yarn Needle
Stuffing – Poly fiberfil
 
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Change to (chgto)
 
Size: 9X 13  inches
 
Notes:
Ch1 Does not Count as a st.
Ch3 Counts as a dc
 
 Pattern:
 
R: 1 – With red, Ch 5, join in a circle, ch3,
9 dc in the circle, join to the ch3 with a slst, ch3 (10dc)


R: 2 – Dc in the same st as the ch3,
2 dc in each dc around, join to the ch3 with a slst, ch 3 (20 dc)


R: 3 –  Dc in the same st as the ch3,
2 dc in each dc around, join to the ch3 with a slst, ch 3 (40 dc)


R: 4 - 1 dc in the next 2 dc,
*2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next 3 dc*
Repeat from * to * around, Join to the ch3 with a slst, ch 3 (50 dc)
 
R: 5 - 1 dc in the next 3 dc,
*2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next 4dc*
Repeat from * to * around, Join to the ch3 with a slst, ch3 (60 dc)


R: 6 ––1 dc in the next 4 dc,
*2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next 5dc*
Repeat from * to * around, Join to the ch3 with a slst, (70 sc)
 
 R: 7 - Chgto pink, ch3, 1 dc in the next 5 dc,
*2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next 6dc*
Repeat from * to * around, Join to the ch3 with a slst (80 dc)
 

R: 8 - Chgto White, 1 sc in the 1st 7 dc,
*2 sc in the next dc, 1 sc in the next 7 dc*
Repeat from * to * around, Join to the 1st sc with a slst, (90 sc)


R: 9 –Chgto Light green, Ch3, 1 dc in the next 7 sc,
*2 dc in the next sc, 1 dc in the next 8 sc*
Repeat from * to * around, Join to the ch3 with a slst (100dc)



 R: 10 – 1 dc in the next dc,
*chgto Dk. green, 1 dc in the next 2 dc,
Chgto light green, 1 dc in the next 2 dc*
carry your yarn, Stitch over the carried yarn.
Repeat from * to * around, join to the ch3 with a slst, ch 3
(100dc)

How To Chane colors:





R: 11 – Repeat R: 11, tie off light green, leave dk green attached.
Fold the watermelon in half, right side out,
Sc across, stitching the sides together,
Leave a opening for stuffing, and stuff the watermelon.
Sc the opening closed, tie off weave in the ends.


Seeds:
With Black, Make 10 straight stitches around R: 3 and R: 4,
As shown in the pattern in the pic.


Eyes:
With White yarn, Ch 14, slst in the 2nd ch from the hook,
Sk 2 chs, 4 dc in the next ch, sk 2 chs, slst in the next ch,
Sk 2 chs, 4 dc in the next ch, sk 2 chs, slst in the last ch,
Turn, Working down the other side of the ch.
slst in the 2nd ch from the hook,
Sk 2 chs, 4 dc in the next ch, sk 2 chs, slst in the next ch,
Sk 2 chs, 4 dc in the next ch, sk 2 chs, slst in the last ch,
tie off leaving a 12 in tail of yarn sewing on Watermelon.
 
With Green yarn, place 2 French knots for the pupils of the eyes.
 
With pink yarn, stitch on a fun smile.

I designed This month's Square using Red From
 Red Heart Super Saver, and Red, White and Blue Variegated.
Also Red heart Super Saver. they are both medium
 (4) weight acrylic yarns.

What is the This Crochet ALong
 All About? 

FYI: Each month there is a crochet Granny Square
 that is inspired by the Birthstone of each month.
There is a written pattern with pictures, 
and a Brand New Video Tutorial.
Make at least 2 squares for each month.

When we finish all 12 squares we will be joining
 them into a blanket,
 but you can make whatever you would like.
 A Bag, A Scarf, a Hat, or Whatever.

R: 4 – Slst in the next ch 5 loop, 
2 sc, ch2, 2sc in that loop,
ch2, 2 sc in the next loop, Ch2
*2sc, ch2, 2sc, in the next ch 5 loop, ch 2,

Repeat From * to * 2 more times, join to the 1st sc.
Slst into next 2 sc, slst into the ch2 sp
