Snowman Washcloth, Doily

 and Pot Holder

Snowman measures about 9 X 9 Inches,
so it's a perfect size.


If you are making a Pot holder or Washcloth, 
I recommend using cotton yarns.
If you are making a doily or decoration 
Acrylic yarn is just fine.
But Of course, 

You do what you prefer and works best for you.
Any Med (4) yarn will work for this project.

Skill: Easy

Materials:

Crochet Hook – H/5.00 MM

Yarn- Med (4) – Acrylic, Cotton or Blend
              White C1- 2 oz. Trim and pompom- C2- 1 oz,
                          small amount of Orange and Black

        Yarn Needle

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch (slst)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Skip (sk)

Space (sp)

Notes:

Ch3 Counts as dc

Rounds are joined with a slst to the ch3

Ch 4 Counts as a dc, ch1

Size: 9 X 9 Inches

Pattern:

R: 1 – With C1, Ch 5, join in a circle, ch3, 9 dc, join, ch 3

(10dc)

R: 2 – Dc in the same st as the ch3, 2 dc in each dc, join, ch4

(20dc)

R: 3 – *dc, ch1 in the next dc*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ch3

(20dc, 20 ch1 = 40 sts)

R: 4 – 1 dc in the same st as ch3,

*1 dc in the ch1 sp, 2 dc in the dc* Repeat From * to * around, join

(60 sts)

R: 5- Ch5 (counts as dc, ch2) *sk 1 st, dc in the next st, ch 2*

Repeat from * to * join, ch 3 (90 sts)

Do not worry if R: 5 is a little ripply,
 it will flatten out after the R: 6.

R: 6 – *2 dc in the next ch2 sp, 1 dc in the next dc*

Repeat from * to * around, join, ch1 (90 dc)

 R: 7 – Chgto C2, 1 sc in each dc around, join, ch1

 (90 sc)

R: 8 - 1 sc in each sc around, join, 
ch 12, join to the 1st sc, tie off weave in your ends
(90 sc)

Eyes: Make 2

With Black yarn, Ch 2, 5 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join and tie off, 

leaving a 8 inch tail for sewing eye in place on front of snowman face. (5 sc)

Nose:

With Orange, Ch 7, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in the next ch,
1 hdc in the next 2 chs, 1 dc in the last 2 chs, (2sc, 2hdc, 2dc)

tie off leaving a 18 inch tail of yarn for sewing nose on face.

Embroider the Smile on using black yarn and the needle, on R: 4

Pom pom -

Wrap 1 strand of  yarns around your four fingers about 20 times. 

Cut a 12 inch piece of matching yarn and push it through the hole

and tie the loops tightly. 

Trim loops evenly to form the pom pom. Attach to the top of the snowman,

under the hanger loop.

If Your Snowman is not as Flat as you would like.

 You can dampen  and Block it.

 or lay is flay to dry.

 Materials:

Crochet Hook - I/  5.50MM

Yarn – Worsted Weight (4) I Used Red Heart Super Saver

             White 2 oz. – C1, Green 1oz. – C2, Red .5 0z. C3, small amount of Black and orange.

 Yarn Needle

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Half Double Crochet (hdc)

Change to (chgto)

Size: 8 X 10 inches

Note:

ch1 does not count as a st.

Rounds are joined with a slst to the 1^st hdc
Ch3 Counts as a dc

When changing colors, ch1 , or ch 3 after the color change.

Pattern:

R: 1 – With C1, Ch 5, join in a circle, ch1, 10 hdc in the circle, join, ch1

(10hdc)

R: 2 - 2 hdc in each st, join, ch 1 (20hdc)

R: 3 - *2 hdc in 1st hdc, 1 hdc in next hdc*,

Repeat from *to* around, join, ch 1 (30hdc)

R: 4 - *2 hdc in next  hdc, 1 hdc in the next 2hdc*,

Repeat from *to* around, join, ch 1 (40hdc)

R: 5 - *2 hdc in next  hdc, 1 hdc in the next 3 hdc*,

Repeat from *to* around, join, ch 1 (50hdc)

R: 6 - 1 hdc in each hdc, join, ch 1 (50 hdc)

Stitch count remains the same for the rest of the bag.

R: 7 - R: 15  - Repeat R : 6, join, ch 1

R: 16 – Chgto C2, *1 hdc in the next hdc*

 Repeat from *to* around, join, ch 1

R: 17 - 1 hdc in each hdc  around, join

R: 18 -  Chgto C3, 1 dc in each st, join, ch 3

R: 19 – R : 21 -  Repeat R: 18, join, tie off weave in ends.

Drawstring: Holding 2 strands of yarn together,

Ch 80 , weave the chain through R:20 and tie ends together.

Eyes: Make 2

With Black yarn, Ch 3, 10 hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook, join and tie off, 

leaving a 8 inch tail for sewing eye in place on front of monkey face. (10 hdc)

Nose:

With Orange, Ch 8, 1 dc in the 4^th ch from the hook, 

1 hdc in the next ch, 1 sc in the next 2 chs, slst in the last ch, 

tie off leaving a 10 - 12 inch tail of yarn for sewing nose on face.

Little Pompom:

With Green yarn, Cut a 10 - 12 inch piece of yarn.

Holding 2 strands of yarn together,

Wrap the yarn around your four fingers 20 times. 
More Times if a thicker pompom is desired. 

Lay the loops across the string and tie the string securely.

Trim loops evenly to form the pom pom. 

Attach to top of the snowman's hat.

Size: fits a 16 oz. Canning jay (5 inches tall)

Nose:

With Orange, Ch 4, 2 dc in the 4^th ch from the hook, 
ch1, turn, slst in the next 3 sts, 

tie off leaving a 10 - 12 inch tail of yarn for sewing nose on face.

Eyes and Smile:

Embroider on eyes and smile with black yarn according to the picture,
using long stitches. 
Weave in your ends being careful not to show the black yarn through the White yarn.

Little Pompom:

Wrap 1 strand each of each of the 2  yarns, wrap your four fingers 12 -15 times. 

Cut a 12 inch piece of matching yarn and push it through the hole and tie the loops tightly. 

Trim loops evenly to form the pom pom. Attach to top of the snowman's hat.

Add a bow, button or flower in place of the Pompom 

Make a set to give as a gift!
