Turkey Doily and Placemat Crochet Pattern | Posh Pooch Designs

When I was designing this Turkey Doily I loved
 how it was stitching up.
But when I added the eyes and beak,  this silly
 doily  just made me giggle, or was that Gobble.

You can Leave off the face for a more "elegant" Doily.




I Just love it so much, and Hope you do too!
So Let's Gobble, Gobble, Gobble,

Skill: Easy
 
Materials:
 Crochet Hook – I / 5.5 MM
Yarn- Med (4) I Love This yarn By Hobby Lobby
           C1 - 2 oz. light brown, C2 - 1 oz. Fall Variegated,
           Small amount of gold, dark brown and White
Yarn Needle
 
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Skip (sk)
Space (sp)
Change to (Chgto)
 
Size: 12 X 12 Inches
 
Notes:
Ch1 Does not count as a st
Ch3 3 Counts as a dc
Ch4 Counts as a dc, ch1
Rounds are joined to the ch3 with a slst
 
Pattern:
R: 1 – Ch 5, join in a circle, ch 3, 11 dc in the circle, join, ch 4
(12dc)
 


R: 2 - *dc in the next dc, ch1*
Repeat from * to * around, join, ch 3
(12 c, 12ch1)
 


R: 3 – *2 dc in the next ch 1 sp, dc in the next dc*
Repeat From * to * around, join, ch 3
(36 dc)
 


R: 4- 1 dc in the same st as the ch 3, ch 1
*sk the next dc, 2 dc in the next dc, ch1*
Repeat From * to * around, join, ch 3
(36 dc, 18 ch1)
 


R: 5 – Dc between the  2 dc, dc in the next dc, ch 1
*dc in the next dc, dc between the 2 dc, dc in the next dc, ch 1*
Repeat From * to * around, join and ch3
(54dc, 18 ch1)
 


R: 6 – 2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next dc, ch1
*1dc in the next dc, 2dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next dc, ch1*
Repeat From * to * around, join, ch 3
(72 dc, 18 ch1)
 


R: 7 -  1 dc in the next 3 dc, ch2
*1dc in the next 4dc, ch2*
Repeat From * to * around, join, ch 1
(72 dc,  18 ch2)
 


R: 8 – 1 sc in each dc and 2sc in each ch2 sp around, join to the 1st sc
(108 sc)
 


R: 9 – Chgto C2, ch1, cs in the next sc, sk 1 sc,
*2 dc, ch1, 2dc in the next sc, sk 1 sc, sc in the next sc, sk 1 sc*
Repeat From * to * 12 More times, sc in the next sc, turn, ch 1 
(13 shsts)
 


R: 10 – *Sc in the sc, ch1, 5 dc in the next ch1 sp, ch1*
Repeat From * to * 12 Mores times
Sc in the next sc, (13 shsts)
 


Sc in each of the sc working around the bottom edge of the turkey,
 join to the sc on the other side of the turkey.
 
 


Eyes: Make 2
With White yarn, ch 2, 8 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join with a slst,
tie off leaving an 8 inch tail of yarn for sewing in place.
 
Pupil is made by stitching a French knot with Brown yarn.
Place on the top of the snood and sew in place.
 
Beak: With gold yarn, ch 2, 2 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, ch 1 turn (2sc)
2 sc in each sc, ch1, turn (4sc)
1 sc in each sc (4sc)
 turn down the 1st side and evenly crochet to the point of the beak,
2 sc in the point, the sc up the other side, join to the 1st sc and tie off.
Leave a 10 in piece of yarn for sewing place.

This Cute and silly Turkey can be used as a Washcloth, 

Doily or Pot Holder

Or Just use it as a decoration for the Thanksgiving table.

It would be wonderful to place one at each place setting,
 for all your guests to  take with them,to remember
 what fun they had at your Thanksgiving Celebration.

Skill: Easy

Materials:
Crochet Hook – H / 5.00MM
Yarn- Worsted Weight (4) Beige – C1, Fall Variegated – C2, ( .5 oz of each color)
             Small Amount for black, yellow and red for the face.
Yarn needle

Stitches:
 Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double crochet (dc)
Skip (sk)
Space (sp)
Chang to (chgto)
Shell Stitch (shst) 2dc, ch2, 2dc in the same st

Size: 6 X 9 Inches

Notes:
Ch3 Counts as dc
Ch1 does not count as a st

Pattern: Turkey body
R: 1 – With C1,Ch 5, join in a circle, ch3, 9 dc in the circle, join with a sl st to the ch3,
Ch3. (10 dc)

R: 2 – 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, 2 dc in each dc, join to the ch3 with a slst,
Ch3. (20 dc)

R: 3 – 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, *1 dc in the next dc, 2 dc in the next dc*
Repeat From * to * around, Join to ch3 with a slst. (30 dc)

R; 4 – Chgto C2, 1 sc
*sk 1 dc, ch1, shst in the next dc, ch1, sk 1 dc, sc in the next dc, *
Repeat From * to * 5 more times, turn.
(6 shell stitches made)

R: 5 - 1 sc in the sc,
*ch2, shst ch2 sp of the shst, ch2, sc in the next sc *
Repeat From * to * 5 more times, turn.

R: 6 - 1 sc in the sc,

*ch5, shst ch2 sp of the shst, ch5, sc in the next sc *
Repeat From * to * 5 more times, tie off weave in your ends.

Turkey face:
R: 9 – With C1,Ch 5, join in a circle, ch3, 9 dc in the circle, join with a sl st to the ch3,
Ch3. (10 dc)

R: 10 – 1 sc in the same st as the ch3, 2 sc in each dc, join to the ch3 with a slst,
Tie off leaving a 12 inch tail of yarn for sewing head on body.(20 sc)

Eyes – With brown yarn make 2 French Knots for eyes.
Beak – With yellow yarn embroider a triangle beak.
With Red yarn embroider a goggle on the turkey face.

Sew Turkey head onto the front of the Turkey.

The Turkey can be stitched up in any colors
 you prefer!
Traditional, Variegated or Autumn Shades.
