Skill: Easy

Materials:

Crochet hook – K / 6.5 MM

Yarn – Chunky (5) or 2 strands of WW (4)

           C1- Brown, C2 – Green, C3 – yellow

            ( I used 2 strands of I love This yarn From Hobby Lobby)

12-15 - Assorted buttons of Choice  I used round Glitter buttons and assort.

                                                                 purchased from Walmart)

Yarn Needle
Sewing Needle For Sewing on the buttons

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch (slst)

Single Crochet (sc0

Double Crochet (dc)

Back Loop Only (blp)

Change to (chgto)

Double Crochet Together (dctog)

Size - 20-22 inches – Youth/Adult

Notes:
The Hat is crocheted  with 1 strand of Chunky (5) or 2 strands of WW (4)

Rounds are joined with a slip stitch

Ch1 does not count as a single Crochet

Ch3 counts as a double Crochet

R: 1- Starting at the hat band- with C1, ch 5, 1 sc in the 2^nd ch from the hook,

1 sc in the next 3 chs, ch1, turn. (4sc)

R: 2 – Working in the BLO, 1 sc in each sc, ch1, turn (4sc)

R: 3 – R: 52 – Repeat R: 2

Place to 2 ends together, sc them together, to form a circle for the hat band.

R: 53 - Chgto C2, ch3, place 1 dc in the end of each of the rows of the hat band,

Join to top of ch3, ch 3. (52 dc)

R: 54 – 1 dc in each dc, join, ch3 (52dc)

R: 55 – R: 57 – Repeat R: 54

R: 58 – 1 dc in the 1^st 3 dc, *dctog the next 2 dc, 1 dc in the next 4 dc*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ch3 (45 dc)

R: 59 – 1 dc in each dc, join, ch 3 (45dc)

R: 60 - 1 dc in the 1^st 3 dc, *dctog the next 2 dc, 1 dc in the next 4 dc*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ch3 (36dc)

R: 61 - 1 dc in the 1^st 2 dc, *dctog the next 2 dc, 1 dc in the next 3 dc*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ch3 (27dc)

R: 62 - 1 dc in the 1^st 2 dc, *dctog the next 2 dc, 1 dc in the next 3 dc*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ch3 (21dc)

R: 63 – 1 dc in each dc, join, ch 1 (21dc)

R: 64 -1 dc in the 1^st dc, *dctog the next 2 dc, 1 dc in the next 2 dc*

Repeat From * to * around, join, ch3 (14dc)

R: 65 – 1 dc in each dc, join, ch 3 (14dc)

R: 66 – Dctog the 1^st 2 dc, *dctgo the next 2 dc*

Repeat From * to * around, join, tie off leaving a 12 inch tail of yarn (7dc)

Thread the tail of yarn onto a needle and close the hole at the top of the Hat.

Star:

SR: 1 – With C4, ch3, 5 sc in the 2^nd ch from the hook, join to 1^st sc, ch4

SR: 2 – Slst in the 2^nd ch from the hook, sc in the next ch, hdc in the next ch, join to the next sc,

*ch4, Slst in the 2^nd ch from the hook, sc in the next ch, hdc in the next ch, join to the next sc*

Repeat From * to * 3 more times, join to 1^st sc, leaving a 12 in tail of yarn for sewing onto the tree hat.

Randomly sew buttons onto the hat.
