I have wanted to design a Peppermint Christmas Blanket
 For a few years. I Love peppermint coffee, candy, 
ice cream and anything peppermint.  I could
 not decide on what yarn to use. That is until I found the

 Premier Basix Shimmer Peppermint. It is the perfect shade

of Christmas red, and bright white, and has a thread of

 metallic running through it. Yes, It is perfect matched

with the Bright White of the Premier Just Yarn. 

I decided to make it a granny square style blanket.

That way it can be just about any size, depending on 

how many of the 9 inch squares you want to make.

It is a throw blanket for tossing over a chair, couch or bed,

 but also a blanket for a Christmas baby gift.

It also makes a festive nice lap blanket.

The Squares can be used for a pillow, bag, wrap

 poncho and scarf. As well as, a table runner or 

place mats. That is why I love Granny Squares so

 much, there are just so many uses for them

Size: 9 X 9 Inch Squares
I made 16 Squares, About a 38 X 38 Inch Blanket including the trim
 
Notes:
Ch1 Does not count as a st
Ch3 Counts as a dc
 
Pattern:
The Square – Make 16 or as many you want for your blanket
 
R: 1 – With C1, Ch 5, join in a circle, ch3,
7 DC in the circle, join to the ch3 with a slst (8dc)

R: 2 – Chgto To C2, leave C1 attached,
Ch3, dc in the 1^st dc, *2 dc in each dc around,
Join to the ch3 with a slst (16 dc)

R: 3 - Chgto To C1, leave C2 attached,
Ch3, *FPDC in the next dc, dc in the same dc as the FPDC*
Repeat from * to * around,
Join to the ch3 with a slst (16 dc, 16 FPDC)

R: 4 - Chgto To C2, leave C1 attached,
Ch3, Dc in the ch3, FPDC in the FPDC,
* 2 dc in the next dc, FPDC in the FPDC *
Repeat from * to * around,
Join to the ch3 with a slst (32 dc, 16 FPDC)

R: 5 - Chgto To C1, leave C2 attached,
Ch3, 2 Dc in the next, FPDC in the FPDC,

Join to the ch3 with a slst (64 dc, 16 FPDC)

R: 7 - Chgto To C1, tie off C2,
Ch1, sc in the last FPDC, Ch 5,

Repeat from * to * around,
Join to the 1^st sc, slst in the ch5 sp
(16 sets of sc, ch 5)

R: 8 – Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in the 1^st ch5 sp,
Ch2, 3 dc in the next 3 ch5 sps,
*3dc, ch2, 3 dc in the next ch5 sp, ch2
Ch2, 3 dc in the next 3 ch5 sps, ch2*
Repeat 2 More Times, join  the ch3 with a slst, ch1

R: 9 -  *Sc, Ch1, sc in the corner ch2 sp,

sc in each dc, 2sc in each ch2 sp across*

Repeat from * to * 3 more times,

 join to the 1st sc with a slst, and tie off.

 Weave in the ends. 
 

Repeat R: 1 – R: 9 For 15 More Times,
Or as many squares you need.

Joining the Squares:
 
The Layout of the Squares –
I stitched 4 together
Then Stitched Rows of 4 together
 
I Placed them together Wrong side out, and evenly sc across,
Stitching in the “outside stitches”
Nothing Fancy

The Blanket Trim:
R: 1 – Chgto C2, Sc all the way around the 4 sides of the blanket,
3 sc in each corner, join to the 1^st sc,

R: 2 – Chgto to C1, tie off C2, *sc , 

*ch4, sk the next 2 sc, sc in the next sc*
Repeat from * to * all the ways around, Join to the 1^st sc,
 tie off, weave in the ends.

I decided I wanted to stitch up a new Christmas Blanket

 for Rosie, my Chihuahua this year. I like to lay a blanket

 on the couch to keeps her hair off the couch, and 

 a nice place to sit. I wanted it to be a Christmas 

crochet pattern that any one could make

 for any time of year.

Looking though my Christmas and Holiday yarn stash, 

I found 2 yarns I think compliment each other nicely.

The Herrsherners Worsted, Very Merry and

            Premier Yarn Basix, Merry Multi. Both are 

Medium (4) Weight acrylic yarns. 

One is a long striping yarn and the other a variegated.

I really love how they worked up together. 

I changed colors every 2 rows, and used the long striping

 yarn for the trim. I only chose that because I had

 more of that particular yarn. This just goes to show

 you that colors and styles you think do not go together,

 can end up looking so pretty together.

I think Rosie loves it !

It measures about 28 X 32 inches with the trim.

I did add the multiples so you can adjust it as needed.

Although, I designed it for my Rosie, it does not mean

 it is only for dogs. This blanket can be made for anyone,

 pet or human.

I wanted to make a new Fun Christmas Blanket for the 

living room Couch. I love the design of the mitered square.

It starts as a simple Granny square and makes such 

fun and easy design. I really love how it stitched up.

I designed the blanket using Premier Gumdrop 

Cake Yarn. It is a super bulky (6) yarn that is 

100 % polyester. It feels like velour, but much softer,

 yet sturdy. The Color is Holly Jolly and makes the

 perfect Holiday blanket. And would also be a wonderful

Christmas Baby Blanket.
