I am Featuring the

 Granny and The Stars Crochet Pattern

I am not a big fan of Granny Squares,

 But really, really love the combination of the

 Granny Squares and the Star Stitch in this hat.

The pattern is Easy and Quite fun!

 many different looks, with one pattern.

And did I mention it is a Free pattern!

I really love the way my "interpretation" 

of her pattern turned out.

I used WW(4) and an I Hook 

and it made the hat a little bigger 

and more slouchy.

"After resigning as a Police Officer to be a stay – at – home mom

 for her 2 beautiful children, Kati missed the rush, excitement 

and challenge of her former job.  She was very excited when 

she started crocheting again; to discover that when she began 

to play around with new pattern designs that the mental

 stimulation and excitement she missed was being replaced

 by such a delicate medium.   Kati loves to design and crochet 

patterns for her kids, family and friends; for without their

 support and encouragement she would not be where she is today!

"My blog is pretty much about just crochet.  

I love trying new ideas or finding old ideas and 

making them new with a completely different stitch.  

I'm not much into fluff.  If there is a bit of a story

 to go with the pattern then I gladly share it with you 

hoping you get a bit of enjoyment from it.  Other

 than that I try to keep it simple and crochet the cutest

 items and write the clearest directions possible

 so you can complete is also. "

Marie Segares - The Underground Crafter

I only asked her 2 questions:

1. Who is Marie Segares?

"I'm a crochet and knitting blogger, designer, teacher, podcaster, and 

small business consultant. My maternal grandmother taught me to

 crochet in 1984. For the next 16 or so years, I basically made one color,

 half double crochet scarves. In the early 2000s, I learned to read patterns

 and then my crocheting life just exploded! In 2008, I started 

Underground Crafter, became a Craft Yarn Council certified

 crochet teacher and instructor, and started designing shortly

 thereafter. In 2010, I conquered my lifelong fear of knitting,

 and now I teach knitting and design knitting patterns, too.

 Last fall, I launched the CreativeYarn Entrepreneur Show, 

a weekly podcast for small business owners in the yarn industry."

"Oh, and in my non-crafty life: I'm a native New Yorker 

and have lived in Brooklyn or Manhattan for all but 3

 years of my life, I have two rescued cats, 

and I'm more than a bit of a sci fi nerd."

2. Tell us About our Blog.

"I started blogging in 2011. My blog and my business got the

 name Underground Crafter because I would do a lot of crocheting 

and other crafts while riding the subway to and from work :). 

On my blog, I share free crochet patterns, crochet and knitting book 

and product reviews, pattern roundups, interviews with needle

arts industry pros, and my crafty adventures. Oh, and from time

 to time I toss in a giveaway, too. I've been honored to receive 

several awards since I started blogging, including the

2014Awesome Crochet Blog Award for Best Crochet Blog Post Series 

from Crochet Concupiscence for my 

2014Hispanic Heritage Month interview series."

I decided to Make one of her patterns: 

I chose The Pinky Circle Scarf

perfectly written pattern and fun to make.

It is a warm scarf, but has a "lacy" look and 

lets just enough air through.

I used Impeccable-folklore yarn.
