I have decided, after much 

thought and consideration

 to Not do A Crochet A Long in July, 

But Rather Go ahead and put the Pattern

 out there so you all could make it,
 at your leisure.
I have a bunch of Fun Things planned for  
The Christmas In July Event.

It is super easy and a great way to use of those left over yarns.

Heart Shaped Dog Rug/ Pet Mat By Sara Sach

Skill: Easy

Materials:

Crochet Hook: N-9.0mm

Yarn: 20-30 oz of Worsted Weight yarn, the amount is am estimate,

           as I do not know for sure how much yarn I used,

           as I used up a lot of my let over yarns

Yarn Needle

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Skip (sk)

Size: Approximately 42 X 24 inches

Note:

You will be crocheting with 3 strands of yarn at all times.

To make it easier to crochet, I rolled mine in balls,

attaching the yarn  as it ran out.

I ended up with some pretty fun color combinations.

How to crochet With more then 1 strand of yarn

Ch3 at beginning of rounds count as the 1^st dc.

3 Squares - We will be making 1 regular and 2 with rounded corners.

Step 1 - 1 Regular Square for center of Heart Mat –

With 3 strands of yarn, Ch 5, join in a circle

R : 1 - Ch 3, 2 dc in chain loop, *ch 2, 3 dc* 3 times,

 join to 1^st ch 3 with a sl st. (4 clusters)

R : 2- Turn, (only turn on this row)

 Sl st in the 1^st corner, ch3, 2 dc, ch2, 3 dc,

*1dc in each dc across,3dc, ch2, 3dc in the next corner

* Repeat from * to * 2 more times,

Dc in each dc across, join to 1^st ch3 with a sl st.

 (3 dc on each side, 4 corners)

R : 3 - Sl st to the 1^st corner, ch3, 2 dc, ch2, 3 dc,

 *sk the next 2dc, 1dc in next 5dc across, sk next 2 dc,

3dc, ch2, 3dc in the next corner*

Repeat from * to * 2 more times,

sk the next 2dc, 1dc in next 5dc across, sk next 2 dc,

join to 1^st ch3 with a sl st.

(5 dc on each side, 4 corners)

After R : 3 -- I made the sample in a solid so you could see it better.

Here is a picture to help you understand.

We will be skipping 2 dc after the corner,

and before the next corner.

This will help the Rug not be bunchy.

R : 4 – Repeat R : 3 (7dc, 4 corners)

R : 5 – Repeat R : 3 (9dc, 4 corners)

R : 6 - Repeat R : 3 (11dc, 4 corners)

R : 7 - Repeat R : 3 (13dc, 4 corners)

R : 8 - Repeat R : 3 (15dc, 4 corners) tie off and weave in your ends.

Step 2 - 2 Rounded Squares – For Heart Bumps

Repeat R : 1- R : 7

R : 8 - Sl st to the 1^st corner, ch3, 2 dc, ch2, 3 dc,

 *sk the next 2dc, 1dc in next 15dc across, sk next 2 dc,

3dc, ch2, 3dc in the next corner,

*sk the next 2dc, 1dc in next 15dc across, sk next 2 dc*,

4 dc in the next corner*

Repeat From * to *

sk the next 2dc, 1dc in next 15dc across, sk next 2 dc,

Join to 1^st ch3 with a sl st. tie off weave in your ends.

Step 3 – Sewing the Squares Together –

Sew the Pieces together with sc sts.

Place them back sides together and sc through both edges,

 1 sc in each dc across. Make sure the heart bumps / rounded corners

are in the right places. See pic above.

Step 4 - Trim:

R “ 1 - Attach yarn, using  3 strands, join to  the point of the heart,

3sc, then evenly sc around the heart, till you reach the center of the heart,

sc tog the 3 center “sts” for  a nice curved center,

 continue to sc to the point, join,

( St counts are not important here- Just make sure it is even)

If you find your heart bumps are curling, you can always 

add a increase or 2 to round them out.

 If you crochet tightly you will have more curling.

R : 2- I changed to Solid Color here – ch1, 3 sc in the point, I sc in each sc,

When you reach the Heart center, make 3 “3sc tog” with the 9 center scs.

Sc to the point, join, 

R : 3 – Repeat R : 2

R : 4 – Repeat R : 3, join and tie off.

Be sure to Block your rug for crisp clean finish.

Dog Bed Crochet Pattern

Dog Bed Crochet Pattern -  Adjustable Dog Bed

Materials:

Hook size : J / 6.00 MM

16 oz. of Worsted Weight Yarn ( I used Caron One pound - Taupe)

Stitch marker or 15 inch piece of a different color of yarn

Stitches :

Chain  (ch)

Slip Stitch ( sl st)

Single Crochet  (sc)

Double Crochet ( sc)

Pattern Notes :  2 sts = 1 inch

We will be working the whole pattern with 2 strands of yarn. I pull 1 strand from the center and  1 strand from the out side, in order to use just one skein of yarn.

We will work The center section of the dog bed  in rounds.

Pattern :

R : 1 - Ch 3, 10 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join  with a sl st to the 1st sc to form a circle.

R : 2 - 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in each sc around.

R : 3 - 1 sc in the next st,  1 sc in the next st, * 2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next st, Repeat from * around.

R : 4 - 1 sc in the next st,  1 sc in the next 2  sts, * 2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next st, Repeat from * around.

R : 5  - 1 sc in the next st,  1 sc in the next  3 sts, * 2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next 3 sts, Repeat from * around.

R : 6 - 1 sc in the next st,  1 sc in the next  4 sts, * 2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next 4 st, Repeat from * around.

R : 7 -  1 sc in the next st,  1 sc in the next  5 sts, * 2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next 5 sts, Repeat from * around.

R : 8 - 1 sc in the next st,  1 sc in the next  6 sts, * 2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next 6 sts, Repeat from * around.

R : 9 - 1 sc in the next st,  1 sc in the next  7 sts, * 2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next 7 sts, Repeat from * around.

R : 18 - 1 sc in the next st,  1 sc in the next  13 sts, * 2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next 16 sts, Repeat from * around.

R : 19 - 1 sc in the next st,  1 sc in the next  13 sts, * 2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next 17 sts, Repeat from * around.

R : 20 -  1 sc in each sc around.

 Circle should measure approximately 17 inches at this point.

This bottom section may curl some if you are a tight stitcher, if so you can block it before you start the side.

If you want the dog bed  bigger continue to follow the pattern adding increase stitches.

R : 21 - Sl st in the next st, then turn, stitching the opposite direction, 1 dc in each sc around, join to the 1st dc with a sl st, ch 2

R : 22 - 1 dc in each dc, until 20 dc are left, turn, leaving the last 20 dc un-worked. leaving a opening for the front of the dog bed.

R : 23 -  Ch 2, 1 dc in each dc around, turn

R : 24 - Ch 2, * 1 dc in the next 6 dc, st the next 2 dc together ( dc dec) * , Repeat from

 * to *  around, turn

R : 25 - Repeat R : 24

R : 26 - Ch 1, 1 hdc in dc, turn

 R : 27 - 1 sc in each hdc, 1 sc in the 1st corner of the opening, sc evenly down the side of the opening, sc across bottom of opening, then back up the other side, 2 sc in the second corner, tie off and weave in end.

If no extra rounds were added, dog bed will measure approximately 20 inches.

Skill: Easy

Materials:
Crochet Hook -K
Large Yarn needle
Yarn : Chunky (5 or 6) I used USA hometown by Lion Brand chunky yarn
             And I Love This Chunky/ Hobby Lobby


Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet ( dc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)

Getting Started: first measure your dog's neck--keeping mind yarn stretches.

And also you will need to slip the collar over their head.

My dogs have 12 inch necks( 24 chs + 2 chs =26chs)

Collar :
Ch 26, ( your dog's neck measurement + 2 chs)
join in a circle, ch1
R : 1 - 1 sc in each ch around, join, ch1
R : 2 - R : 4 - Repeat R : 1, tie off weave in your ends.

For a larger dog and a thicker collar, add more rows.

Bowtie :
R : 1- With Hot pink, Ch 13, 12 sc, ch1 turn
R : 2 - 12 sc, ch1, turn
R : 3 - R ; 4 - Repeat R : 2
Tie off, and weave in the ends of yarn.

Cut a 12 inch piece of matching yarn, wrap it around the center
of the bowtie and tie very snuggly.
Attach to center of the collar with the tails of the yarn.

6 Petal Flower :

With C1, Ch 3, 12 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join,

Change to C2 * ch 2, 3 dc, in next st, ch 2, slst in the next st*
Repeat from * to * 5 more times for 6 petals, sl st to join,
tie off and weave in ends. sew on the collar.

How to Make An Outdoor Dog Mat

My Dogs love to sit in the sun, 
outback on my deck.

I felt bad that they were laying on the wood,

 with no padding, 
so I decided to make them a

Outdoor mat to lay on.

These are perfect for kids, too.
It is a great way to use last years beach towel, 
or buy a new one when they are on sale.

This is what I did:

I bought a 1 X 22 X 22 piece of poly foam

 for about $4.00 at Hobby Lobby.

I looked in the Closet and 

pulled out a "much loved but still had 

lots of wear left in it",beach towel.

I folded the towel  in 3rds, like my pillow shams are folded,

making sure the foam piece would fit.

 I then sewed up the sides of the Towel.

Slid the foam in the towel cover, 

the way a pillow is slid inside a pillow sham.

The Dogs love it.

The best part is it is completely washable.

When it gets dirty or wet,

 I can slide out the foam 

and was the towel cover.

You can even was the foam piece,

 and let it air dry in the sun.

I have replaced the towel several times,

 and still use the same piece of foam.

How to wash the foam. 

I rinse and wash it in the kitchen sink,

 then lay it in the sun to dry.

once its dry, I put the cover back on.
