Big Striped Tote Bag Crochet Pattern | Posh Pooch Designs

Big Striped Tote Bag Crochet Pattern
By Sara Sach of Posh Pooch Designs

I designed This Simple Tote Bag Crochet Pattern
About 10 Years ago.
I decided it was time to retest and update the
Crochet Pattern. And Also, thought it would be fun to
do this update as a Video Crochet A Long.

I am very excited about this Video Crochet Along
and I hope you are too. Do not worry if you don't have
time for the Crochet A Long right now, the videos and
pattern will always be here when you do have the time.

The bag is a big roomy bag, that will fit lots of yarn,
groceries , books, toys, and whatever you need to carry.
It measures about 12 x12,  x 36 inches around.

It's Even Large Enough To Carry 2 Chihuahuas!
Max And Rosie Don't mind.

The Technique For The Stripes is called "Fading".
Moving from one color to next color,
blending the colors together.
You can use 3 or more colors. Have fun and see
what color combinations you can come up with.

These are the colors I have Chosen For
My New Big Striped Tote Bag

A Lesson in Crochet and Friendship

I had the privilege of having this
Sweet 15 year old as a house guest.
She already knows how to crochet,
but wanted some help making
a gift for a friend.

Her friend loves music,
so we decided to make a bag
 that resembled a music staff
with note appliques.

We took a break from crocheting
to take the pooches for a walk.

She loves dogs, and the pooches love her.

This is how the bag turned out.
Pattern For What We Did
measures about 12 x 12 inches

We used:
I Love This yarn Sparkle in Black and White,
and flat black for the notes.
H- hook

It was really simple to make.
R: 1 - With White Sparkle yarn, ch 29, 1 sc in the 2ns ch from the hook and in each ch across, turn working down the back side of the ch, 1 sc in each ch, join to 1 sc. We will be stitching in rounds. (56 sc)
R : 2- 5 - With White Sparkle yarn, 1 sc in each sc around.
R : 6-7 -  With Black yarn , 1 sc in each sc around

Continue to Repeat R: 2-7-The pattern of of 4 white rows and 2 black rows until you have 5 black stripes and 6 black stripes.

After the last white stripe row of sc, We will be forming the handle, With black yarn, 1 sc in the next 9 sc, ch 25, skip the next 10 sc, join to the next sc with a sc, 1 sc in the next 17 sc,  ch 25, skip the next 10 sc, join to the next sc with a sc, 1 sc in the last 8, join to the 1st sc, ch 1

Then *1 sc in each sc and in each ch around, join, ch1*, and Repeat from * to *. tie off and weave in your ends.

Music Note Appliques: This is what I used for the musical notes.

She also, brought me this Wonderful Magnet.
