Gingerbread Coaster Crochet Pattern | Posh Pooch Designs

These smiling gingerbread coasters can also be used as
Christmas tree ornaments, gift tags and be attached to  all sorts of
 Holiday decorations.

Skill: Easy

Materials:
Hook - H
Yarn - Any Worsted Weight yarn (4) Red heart Super Saver
           Small amount of Brown, White, Black,red, green
Yarn Needle

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Picot Stitch (pcst)

Size: 4.5 inches across

Special Stitch: Picot Stitch – ch 3, join to the top of the same st

Pattern: Coaster
Ch3 counts as a Double crochet

R: 1 - With brown yarn, Ch 5, 9 dc in the 4th ch from the hook, join, ch3
(10dc)

R: 2 - 1 dc in the same st as ch3, 2 dc in each st around, join, ch 3
(20dc)

R: 3 - 1 dc in the same st as ch3, 2 dc in each st around, join,
(40dc)

R: 4 - Icing: Change to white yarn, ch1, *1 sc in the next 3 sts, pcst *
Repeat from * to * around coaster edge. tie off weave in your end.

Face:
With Black yarn using straight stitches embroider the smile and eyes
 on the front of the  coaster.

Cheeks: make 2
Ch3, 5 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join in a circle with a slst, tie off leaving a
 10 inch tail of yarn for sewing onto front of coaster.

Bow: 2 sizes
Ch1 does not count as a st.

R: 1 - Ch 8,(10) 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the end and in each ch across, ch 1 turn. (7,9sc)
R: 2 – 1 sc in each sc, ch1, turn (7,9sc)
R: 3- Small - Repeat R: 2,  (7sc)
R: 4 - Medium - Repeat R: 2,  (9sc)
Slst in the 1st 4(5) sc, tie off  leaving a 12 inch tail of yarn.
Pinch the center of the bow, and wind yarn
 around several time, secure tightly and attach to coaster.
