What is DK Yarn?
According To The Yarn Council of America Dk
(Double Knitting) weight yarn is equivalent to
Light (3) on the Standard yarn Weight System.
Why is it called DK or
Double Knitting Weight?
This is because it is usually equivalent to
holding 2 strands of Fingering /Super Fine
Yarn (1) weight, together.
Some People Say, that DK is thicker than
a light (3) weight, but not as thick as a
medium (4) weight yarn.
But it really depends on the brand of yarn.
