Fall will be here soon, and the chilly winds will

 begin blowing.  So I decided it was

 time to post my New Checked Ear 

Warmer Headband.

It has a couple rows of a fun checked pattern

 through the center. It's fun and an easy crochet 

pattern to stitch up. The color choices are endless. 

You can make it in Fall, Winter, Christmas or

 your favorites colors. You can also make it

 in Your favorite team or school colors.

I stitched mine up in medium (4) weight 

Acrylic yarn I had in my yarn stash.

If you do not want it checked, you can make it in 

soiled colors, maybe variegated or ombre.

And add some fun Buttons to match

So Like I said, the color choices and button

 possibilities are as big as your button 

and yarn stash! And mine is pretty big!

Materials: 

Crochet Hook - I / 5.5 MM

Yarn - Med (4) Acrylic I Love This yarn

           C1 - Ivory - 1.5 oz., C2 - High Sierra Strip 1.5 oz.

Yarn Needle

Buttons for embellishment

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch (slst)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC)

Foundation Double Crochet (FDC)

Size: fits 22 -24 Inch Head

Notes:

Ch 1 does not count as a st

Ch3 Counts as a st

How To Change Colors And Carry 

Your Yarn For Double Crochet:

 

You will change Colors every 4th dc

yo, pull through the 1st 2 loops,

Yo with C2 and pull through the 2 loops

 Carry your yarn of Previous color and st over it.

This gives you a neat and tidy color change.

Pattern:

R: 1 - With C1, 60 FDC, Join to the ch3 with a slst, 

ch 3 (60 FDC)

With Needle and tail of yarn, close the gap at the join.

R: 2 - Dc in the next st,

 *FPDC in the next 2 sts, dc in the next 2 sts*

Repeat from * to * around, 

join to the ch3 with a slst, ch 3

(30 FPDC, 30 dc)

R: 3 - Repeat R: 2

R: 4 - Dc in next 3 sts,

 *Chgto C2, leave C1 attached,

Dc in the next 4 sts,

Chto C1, leave C2 Attached,

DC in the next 4 sts*

Repeat from * to * around,

Join to the ch3, with a slst, ch 3 (60 dc)

R: 5 - Repeat R: 4,

Join to the ch3, with a slst,

Chgto C2,  ch 3, (60 dc)

R: 6 - Dc in next 3 sts,

 *Chgto C1, leave C2 attached,

Dc in the next 4 sts,

Chto C2, leave C1 Attached,

Dc in the next 4 sts*

Repeat from * to * around,

Join to the ch3, with a slst, ch 3 (60 dc)

R: 7 - Repeat R: 6

R: 8 - With C2, 1 dc in each dc around,

Join to the ch3 with a slst, ch3 (60 dc)

R: 9 - With C2,Repeat R: 2

R: 10 - Repeat R: 9, ch1

R: 11 - Chgto C1, sc in each dc around, 

join to the 1st sc, tie off weave in the ends. 

Add decorative buttons if desired.
