V Stitch Market Bag Crochet Pattern

I designed This Market Bag back in 2011, 
I loved it, but it was time For a retest and update.

 I think The Caron Cotton Cake Yarn is a perfect
 choice to update the pattern, 
and make a Brand new Video.


It a big roomy bag with plenty of stretch.
It measures 12 X 20 Inches
It's perfect For the Market, But also For the Yarn Store.

Skill: Easy


Materials:
Option1 - Crochet Hook – J / 6.00 MM
                Yarn – Caron Cotton Cake yarn(4) 3.5 OZ
               
Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (slst)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Skip (sk)
Space (sp)
V St – dc, ch 1, dc in the same st

Size: 12 inches long X 20 inches around, not counting the handle.

Pattern Notes:
Join rounds with a slst
Ch1 Does not Count as a stitch.
Ch 3 at beginning of rounds counts as a dc.
Ch 4 counts as dc, ch1.

Pattern:

R: 1 - ch 37, *2 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 

1 sc in each ch across, 2 sc in the last ch*,

Working back down the opposite side of the ch, repeat from * to *,
 join, ch 1 (38 + 38 = 76 sc)

R: 2 -1 sc in each sc around, join, ch1 (76 sc)

 R: 3 - R: 4 - Repeat R: 2 (76 sc)
Ch 3 After R: 4




R: 5 - 1 dc in same st as the ch3,  ch 1, sk the next st,
*1dc in the next 2 sts, ch 1, sk the next st*, repeat from * to *around,
join to 1st dc. (26 sets of 2dc, ch1)

R: 6 – Slst in the ch1 sp of the 1st 2 dc, ch4 in the same sp, 
1 dc in the same sp, ch1
 *Vst in the space between the next 2 dc, ch 1*
 Repeat from * to * around, join to 1st dc. (26 Vsts )

R: 7 - Slst in the ch1 sp of the next Vst, V st, ch1 in the same sp,
 *Vst in the next ch1 sp of the next V st, ch 1*
 Repeat from * to * around, join to 1st dc. (26 V sts)


R: 8 - R: 27 - Repeat R: 7
(add more rows if you want a longer bag)
Ch1 after R: 27

R: 28 - 1 sc in each st around, join, ch 1

R: 29 – R: 31 - Repeat R: 23

Handle :
R: 32 - Ch 36
 (Ch more If a longer handle is desired -
 this would be a great over the shoulder bag)

R: 33 - 1 sc in each sc, join to the next sc with a slst, ch 1, turn

R: 34 -1 sc in each sc, ch 1 turn.
R: 35 - 1 sc in each sc, join to the next sc, tie off weave in Your ends.

Sew the other end to each side of the bag with matching thread.

Skill: Easy

Materials:
 Crochet Hook – I / 5.50 Mm
Yarn – Worsted Weight yarn (4) Bernate Pop/ Mandala Ombre
Yarn Needle

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single crochet (sc)
Double crochet (dc)
Skip (sk)
 Space (sp)

Size: 7 inches across, 8 Inches tall, 18 inches around

Notes:
Ch 3 Counts as a dc
Ch4 Counts as a dc, ch1
Rounds ar joined to the ch 3 with a slst

R: 1 – Ch 5, join in a circle, ch3, 9 dc, join to ch 3, ch 3 (10dc)

R: 2 – Dc in the same st as the ch3, 2 dc in each dc around, join, ch3 (20dc)

R: 3 - Dc in the same st as the ch3, 2 dc in each dc around, join, ch3 (40dc)

R: 4 - Dc in the same st as the ch3, *1 dc in the next dc, 2 dc in next dc*,
Repeat From * to * around join, ch3 (60 dc)

R: 5 – 1 dc in each dc around, join, ch 4 (60dc)

R: 6 – 1 dc in the same st as the ch4, sk 2 dc,
*dc, ch1, dc in the next dc, sk 2 dc*
Repeat From * to * around,
 join to the 3rd ch of the ch4, sl st in the 1st ch1 sp, ch3 (20 V sts)

R: 7 – 2 dc in the same ch1 sp, * 3 dc in the next ch 1 sp*
Repeat From * to * around, join to ch3, slst in the next ch1 sp, ch 4 (20 Sh sts)

R: 8 – ch3 in the same ch1 sp, *dc, ch1 dc in the next ch1 sp*
Repeat From * to * around, join to the 3rd ch, sl in the 2nd dc, ch3 (20 V sts)

R: 9 - Repeat R: 7

R: 10 - R: 15 – Repeat R: 8 and R: 9 Alternating Rows

R: 16 – 1 dc in each dc around join, ch 1 (60 dc)

R: 17 – 1 sc in each dc around, join (60 sc)

R: 18 – Forming the handle, sc in the next 8 sc, turn, ch 1 (8 sc)

R: 19 – R: 38 – Repeat R: 18

Line up the handle evenly and slst in place, tie off weave in your ends.


I did notice that the Project Bag made with Bernate Pop is a bout an inch longer and wider.
So keep that in mind when making your bags. And remember To measure as you go.
