I Love This crochet holder because  it can be made 

 so many different ways. You can use a cup, a glass, 

a left over jar, or a mason jar. And Some yarn from your yarn stash and make something useful and pretty.

We are basically making a open style coaster, running a drawstring through and placing it on top of a jar.

And loading it with some of our crochet hooks.

 It also works great for pens, pencils, and knitting needles.

I Found this mason jar with  handle and wanted to 

use it for my crochet hooks, and I love it.

It's so cute and handy.

Crochet Hook Holder Crochet Pattern By Sara Sach

Please,Add This To Your  Ravelry Favorites.

Skill: Super easy and Super fast!

Materials:

Crochet Hook - I / 5. 50 MM

Yarn - Cotton or Acrylic (4)

16 oz. Plastic Cup or Jar (3 - 4 inches across top, 5 inches tall)
Yarn ball, about 2 inches for the bottom of the holder.

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Slip Stitch (slst)

Single Crochet (sc)

Double Crochet (dc)

Skip (sk)

Size: 6 Inches across

Notes: 

Ch1 Does not count as a st.
Ch3 Counts as dc
Rounds are joined with a slst

Pattern:

R: 1 - ch 2, 8 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 

join with a sl st to 1st st, (8sc)

R: 2- Ch4 (counts as 1dc, ch1) *dc in the next st, ch1*

Repeat From *to* around, join to 3rd ch with a slst, (8dc, 8 ch1 sp =16sts)

R: 3 - Slst in the 1st ch1 sp, ch4, dc, ch1,
 *1dc, ch1, 1dc in the next ch1 Space, ch 1*
 Repeat from *to*  around, join, (16 dc, 16 ch2 sp =32sts)

R: 4 -  Slst in the 1st ch1 sp, ch4, dc, ch1,

 *1dc, ch1, 1dc in the next ch1 Space, ch 1*
 Repeat from *to*  around, join, slst the next ch1 sp, ch3

R: 5 -Shell Sts - 2dc, ch1, in the 1st ch1 sp,slst in the next ch1

*3 dc in the next ch1 sp, slst in the next ch1*

  Repeat from *to * around, join and tie off.

Tie: Ch 50 or more

Lace it through R: 4 

Lay across the top of the  cup, gather together, tie a knot, and bow.

I rolled up a ball of matching yarn, to have something

for the hooks to poke into, inside of the cup.

Now put all your hook, needles and pair of Scissors

 in your holder and set it next to you,

or on your work table.

Let"s Talk About Weaving In

 Your Ends.

Certain fibers, like thicker yarns,  can be more

 difficult to weave in.

 On Today's Video I showed you a few methods I prefer.

1. Stitching over your yarn ends/ tails.

2. Stitching in the stitches, not between stitches, 

with needle and yarn tails.

3. Stitching thorough yarn fibers with needle

 and yarn tail.

4. Weaving back and forth over your stitches,

again with needle and yarn tails.

5. I Know, "No Knots In Crochet".

I try not to use knots,

But there are times when a knot is what is needed.

Remember There is no "proper" way of 

weaving in your ends.

 You do what works best for you, 

and the yarn you are using.

How To Crochet With More Than One Strand of Yarn

First lets answer the Question,

"Why Crochet With more

 than One Strand of Yarn?"

There are several reasons.

1. If you use 2 or more strands of yarn 

you get a nice thick texture.

2. You can mix yarn colors for a unique look.

3. You can mix yarn textures, 

like a WW(4) and a Fun fur for a 

great furry fabric that is sturdy,

and get a very fun look.

Okay, Lets See how simple this is to do.

When you crochet with 2 or more strands of yarn,

You hold the strands of yarn together, 

just like you do with crocheting with 1 strand.

Here is a starting chain using 2 strands of yarn.

I used 2 colors so you can see how they work together.

I turned and stitched a few single crochets.

 One think to remember, is that the strands can get twisted 

as you pull them together.

So don't be in too big a hurry.

I turned and stitched a 2nd row of single crochets.

This is 2 Worsted Weight yarns (4) so I am using an I Hook.

If you use more strands you will want to go up to a larger hook.

See how simple this is.

There are many Crochet Patterns that

 call for a Chunky yarn,

You can substitute 2 strands of 

Worsted weight yarn, 

and get a very unique looking project.

Another technique is to add a 

thin thread of silver or gold, 

along with your yarn, to add a little sparkle.

Have fun playing with your yarn and 

see what new designs you can come up with.
