Learning How to make T-Shirt yarn or "Tarn"

I wanted to learn how to make
 T-shirt Yarn or "Tarn"

By Sara Sach of Posh Pooch Designs

I made a Video, which you can see
At This LINK

What You need:
Old T-Shirts - washed and dried
A Good Pair of Fabric Scissors
A Tape measure if you want to measure your strips

Let's Get started!

The first thing I did was raid my husbands
T-shirt drawer. Once I picked the colors I wanted,

I laid the it on the counter  flat, and cut  the hem off
and cut  across the chest, right under the sleeves,

I The turned it side ways so the folds were on the top and bottom.
I folded the Top down about 2 inches.
(Now, I did not measure anything,
I eyeballed it all.)
I cut from bottom to top  about 1 inch strips,
stopping short of the fold. I did this all the way across the the T-Shirt.

I  opened the end of the T-shirt the  I did not cut, and make a cut
from the first, strip to the next strip. It will be  a slanted cut.

I was struggling a little with cutting the next slanted cuts,
so I got out my big tea pitcher, and laid it the T-Shirt on top.
 This really helped a lot.

As I cut each strip, I unwound it and let it drape to the floor.
Isn't it pretty?

Once I had the "Tarn" all cut, It need to be stretched to look like yarn.
I gently pulled on the yarn to get it to stretch,
but not to hard or it will break.

I ended up making three different colors. I had to stop,
because all the cutting was rubbing a blister on my finger.
(yes, I am a big baby!)

With Tarn I made this yarn Bowl.
I think is is lovely.

Oklahoma Vs. Colorado

My husband loves
 the mountains
 and I love the beach.
 So we live in Oklahoma
 were there is neither.

This has always been a joke
between my husband
and I, as to why we live
 in Oklahoma,
But the real reason is
because our family lives here.

But it looks like we will be relocating to
 Denver, Colorado.

It is going to be hard.
....not the move.
...the leaving.

My sister, Mom and me
I will be leaving my sister and my mom.

I will be leaving my Grandkids, Daughter and Son-in-law.

I will also be leaving
my church Family At Eastland Baptist Church

I became a part of this church 40 years ago,
as a child, I and my sisters began to ride the church bus to Sunday school.
My Mother, came to church , when the new Pastor came.
His name was Dave Hardy.
We began attending every Sunday Morning , Sunday night and wed.
And became very active at the church,
Which wasn't easy for a single mother of 4 girls, in those days.

I grew up at Eastland Baptist church, I learned about the Lord,
I  learned about standards,  missions and tithing
and  The King James Bible..
When I was 15, the youth director's wife, lead me to the Lord..
I was baptized in the "old green auditorium".

I married a Christian man, my husband being the USAF
we traveled a lot, always went to good churches,
 but never one like EASTLAND.

Upon retiring from the USAF we decided to settle
back in Oklahoma, because of the my family, yes,
But, also because of  the church.

My daughter was married at this church, in the Blue Auditorium,
and I have seen several of my nieces and nephews saved and baptized
here, as well.  So alot of my heart is here.

A Pastor preached a sermon once, that was titled,
"Sometimes God Asks us to do hard things."

I Love my Church..
And Leaving is a "hard thing!"

And to answer the Question, "Is this God's Will".
Yes, It is God's will for me to be were my husband is.

Colorado...Here we come,
Are you ready for us!

Because of you, Chihuahua Rescue

Because of You Chihuahua Rescue is a rescue located in Edmond, Oklahoma. We are incorporated with the State of Oklahoma and are a 501(c)3 non-profit group. We are a small rescue and passionate about the Chihuahua breed and their well being.

"Because of You" is dedicated to finding loving "forever homes" for unwanted, unloved, and homeless Chihuahua dogs.

Because of You Chihuahua Rescue is a spay/neuter rescue and believe that there are more dogs than there are good homes to put them into. We would like more people to consider adopting existing dogs, rather than breeding more! And we want to encourage people to also consider the older dogs, since they are some of the most loving dogs and most in need of loving homes. These dogs have been someone's faithful companion, and for whatever the reasons, have been discarded like old garbage...

All rescued dogs live as our personal pets until a "forever home" is found. The dogs are not caged, but roam freely in our home! All veterinarian needs, including spay/neuter will be provided by "Because of You" prior to the adoption. We also do dental, shots, fecal, heartworm test and a prevention plan, grooming, nail care, microchipping and full exam.

Foster Homes Needed

Animal Shelters can be especially scary for the senior Chihuahuas. For some reason or another, senior Chihuahuas keep flowing into area shelters. Is it that they are no longer the young exuberant chi that they once were? Is it the gray on their muzzle that makes them unappealing for their owners? Is 10+ years too long to love a dog? Are these the reasons that so many seniors are in need of rescue?

I think not...a senior Chihuahua is the best of both worlds. They are calm; this doesn’t mean they are less active. They just do not feel the need to run around unless they have good reason. The gray on their muzzle gives them a regal and sophisticated look about them. It is by no means unappealing...Having your furry companion live for 10+ years, WOW, what a privilege to be able to love them and get love in return for that many years!

If you have an older pet please be a responsible pet parent and keep your faithful companion for life. Remember, you will be old someday too. Give your pet the respect they deserve, don’t abandon them in their silver years.

Please visit them on Facebook, too.

The Mini -E-Book is finally finished.
It was  alot of work, time,
and math. and you know how I hate math!
And it was a a lot of Fun.

It all started when I got my Business Cards in,
and loved the way they looked.
I wanted to design some crochet patterns and items
that looked just like the Chihuahuas on my logo.

The first thing I did was do a few sketches, of hats, woobies

of the perfect yarn and colors.  I ended up choosing
Red Heart Super Saver Yarn.
It is a good choice because it is easy to find,
it is not expensive, and it is a sturdy yarn.
And, they had the exact colors I wanted!

These are the Official Posh Pooch Designs yarn colors.
(I used some black and white, too)

April Fools Day Fun!

I ran out to get some more packaging supplies,
and as I was walking past the check out
counter I saw the glasses
with a  nose and mustache, hanging on an end cap.
I just could not resist buying some!
(I wonder if the dogs will wear these.)
I put them on "Buffy" the Stuffed dog model...
Rosie just looked at her.
Rosie is always scared of new things,
so I thought she might not be afraid
if I set them on her friend.
Then I put a pair on Maximo.
He is such a sweet, gentle guy that he
just sat there looking at me,
Rosie just looked at Maximo and then at me.
She still was not happy with this whole Glasses thing.
Then I added the cool Jamaican hat!
I think Maximo was posing like a true Jamaican would.
Rosie was not having any of it!
I put the Rainbow stripe hat on her,
She didn't mind, she is used to hats,
but then I put the glasses on her.... NO WAY!

(Maximo just waited patiently.)

So we left it at the Cool hats.
